Astrology for Self-care

Available now.

A few years ago, I began writing horoscopes for various publications, including a print magazine, an online app, and a new age website.

However, each outlet required a different approach, as one catered to women, another started their week on a Monday, and the third targeted a trendy millennial audience.

As a result, I needed to organize my astrological data and focus on three specific events in the astrology calendar each month: the New and Full moons, the planetary stations, and the ingresses.

By noting these movements on a monthly chart and setting my chart on the zero Aries house system, I could see where each event would occur for each sign.

Evolution

To make this process easier, I created a mini-PDF for clients with each month’s data, which I built up over five years with more valuable information, data, and tables.

However, people often had trouble printing or losing the file, so I eventually published a handy book on Amazon, which customers could easily purchase and return if necessary.

The Starzology 2024 Astro Guide is now available on Amazon, and it includes short interpretations for each lunation, station, and ingress.

These mini-insights are similar to what I would write for a horoscope column, and they can be used as a basis for creating horoscope insights for yourself or your clients.

Election Astrology: Podcast Start Chart

Election Astrology: Podcast Start Chart

Electional Astrology

In this episode, we’re going to have a look at our Starzology Astrology Podcast start chart.

Every entity can have a birth chart and in this case it’s our podcast.

This is the birth chart for the business of the Starzology Astrology Podcast.

It is the chart we chose as the start time and date with which to launch this podcast.

I’m going to explain why we chose the chart that we did and the main features within in it which I believe will support a prosperous podcast business model.

Electional Astrology

To start with this is electional astrology.

It has nothing to do with politics, or who will be the next president or prime minister, but rather it is about electing to do something at some point in the future.

Electional astrology and election charts are often used for business launches and to pick wedding dates.

Electional Chart Principles

Principles of a good election chart are that you reinforce the house that pertains to the activity.

So for example, for a marriage chart it’s the seventh house and for a business chart it is the tenth house.

To reinforce a house you want up place as many positive planets in that house as possible.

As this is a business, we focus on the tenth house of businesses you start yourself.

You also want the Midheaven ruler to be a positive planet or the planet that rules the endeavor.

For instance, if you were opening a restaurant, you would want the Moon in the tenth house because the Moon rules restaurants, food and cooking and if you were opening a beauty salon you would want Venus in the tenth house as Venus rules cosmetics and beauty products.

As this is an astrology podcast business, I wanted Uranus, as the ruler of Astrology, strongly positioned in this chart.

I did this by moving the time to place Uranus in the tenth house.

I also wanted Mercury as the ruler of podcasts, podcasters and podcasting, to be in the tenth house as well.

Planets to Avoid

As a general rule, with Electional astrology you want to avoid the malefic or troublesome planets, so that is Mars, Saturn and Pluto in the tenth house if possible.

Retrograde Planets

You don’t want the planet that rules the subject, in this case Uranus for astrology and Mercury for podcasting, to be retrograde.

When a planet is retrograde it cannot express energy at its highest peak performance.

For any planet, the state of being retrograde brings in a hesitation to the venture and we don’t want that.

The Moon

It is nice to have the Moon growing in light, so waxing, and perhaps in a favourable aspect with the Sun and the ruler of the endeavor in this case Uranus.

Ascendant

The Ascendant and chart ruler could align with the business or even the person’s natal chart who is opening the business.

Timing

You usually get a window for an election.

Perhaps you need to open the business in April anytime or if it’s a wedding they usually want it on a Saturday.

So, there are usually some constraints to the time line.

In my case, I wanted to launch the podcast asap and if possible, in April 2023.

I had the first episode already recorded and ready to go, but I waited for a good time and date.

This was my elected time and date.

Launch Date

I launched the Starzology Astrology Podcast at 1:12pm on April 5th in Vancouver.

I give you this chart data so you can erect the chart yourself and follow along.

This elected time and date returned a reinforced tenth house with a Leo Ascendant and an Aries Midheaven.

Tenth House Planets

The planets I managed to squeeze into the tenth house are:

  • The Sun
  • Chiron
  • Mercury
  • Jupiter
  • Venus
  • Uranus

The Sun

The Sun is most the most elevated planet. It is in its exaltation in Aries and closely conjoined the Midheaven at 15° Aries.

This also places it in the Midheaven Gauquelin sector.

The Sun is at the heart of the business and yes, I want to bring my heart and optimism to this venture.

I don’t see it as a doom and gloom astrology podcast, but rather as an uplifting resource for everyone who finds it.

This will bring light, warmth and creativity to the podcast and maybe some fame in the public domain as well.

Chiron

Chiron is not the easiest of planet to have in the tenth house, but I’m leaning towards the healing and teaching aspect of Chiron.

I hope to tap to this energy from Chiron.

I anticipate sharing astrologer’s journeys and speak to aspiring astrologers around the world to inspire them to live a satisfying life through the energy in their charts.

There may be some lessons to be learned here.

Probably this podcast will not appeal to everyone and that is ok.

I hope the people who do find us can appreciate my message.

Jupiter

The planet of broadcasting and growth, Jupiter, is in the tenth house. And conjoined the Midheaven in the Midheaven Gauquelin sector along with the Sun.

This indicates that the reach of the podcast will be far and wide.

We anticipate expansion and even some luck with this placement of the Greater Benefic in the company’s business house.

Mercury

Mercury is the planet that rules communication, talking and podcasting.

Mercury is the focal planet of a mini grand trine between Mars, Saturn and Mercury.

This suggests that the slow burn energy from Saturn trine Mars, will be funnelled up to Mercury to get the word out.

Mercury represents the actual podcast and the message which we are trying to bring through this podcast.

How people will hear of our podcast is through word of mouth and people like you sharing your positive experiences when you download an episode and listen in.

I could anticipate the conversations started by the podcast to continue in your minds and lives as you fully digest what has been said.

I also see this podcast as a teaching point for some of you.

If I can get a few listeners like you, to think more about how astrology can benefit you, I will be happy.

Venus

The lesser benefic the planet of attraction and money planet, Venus, is also well placed high in the chart in the tenth house.

This augers well for attracting good things including money and attention to the business.

This suggests there will be a good impression of the podcast.

It also suggests that women may be the main audience.

Venus rules the eleventh house of business income which bodes well for a prosperous business income.

Uranus

Uranus is the one planet that rules astrology.

It is high on the chart, again in tenth house.

This placement supports any business related to astrology.

Ascendant

The Ascendant is Leo the Lion.

This means the Sun is the start chart ruler again reinforcing the sunny and creative nature of this venture.

It is also to be noted that my Sun sign is Leo and this Ascendant correlates to my chart in many ways.

The Midheaven

The Midheaven is Aries ruled by Mars.

This indicates a start-up and an independent businesss venture.

This could suggest a good start but a certain flagging over time.

Time will tell.

The Moon

The Gibbous Moon is opposite the Sun.

This may suggest some tension between the drive to be public and the need to keep it close to home.

In a way, the nature of podcasting is that an episode is recorded privately at home and then broadcast, publicly to get it out there and into your consciousness.

This is the one feature that I was not sure about.

The Sun opposite Moon aspect.

I felt the rest of the chart was positive for a business launch for an astrology podcast.

Inspiring Others

I hope that the work I’m doing here will inspire other people to take what astrology they know and run with it.

I believe that your mind can explore your current astrology skills and take you down some exciting roads.

We don’t know where you will end up, but at least you will have taken the first step.

Many people who learn astrology don’t turn into consulting astrologer, but they use the knowledge to enhance other parts of their lives or related businesses.

People like coaches, artists, numerologists and healers from all walks of life can improve their insights with some understanding of astrology.

I urge you to look at the craft from all sorts of different angles, and yes, I know there are angles in a birth chart, to find the treasures within the teachings of astrology which resonate with you and your chart and dig deep.

Exploring Astrology

I believe in exploring astrology by going down all the nooks and crannies and finding ways to present it differently.

I did this in 2011 with my extensive research into the Oriental Planet. Where I dug deep into this topic for over two years.

Again in 2015 I pushed forward with some original research into the Five Types of Dispositor Tree and the specific positions planets can hold within a Dispositor Tree.

Once again during 2018 with my tentative exploration of the Fibonacci Aspects. Which did not go very far, but still…

And once more recently with what I’m calling the “Astrologer’s Holy Trinity” research that I’m doing now.

Not all of this research has gone somewhere, but some of it has.

You don’t know what will take off until you try.

What do they say, “Sow your seeds in the morning, then keep busy all afternoon, because you never know what will grow.”

Discover Research

Whatever you think about most in astrology is likely to be a place where you can develop something of value in the future.

I believe that great things can be imagined and brought forward from all modern astrologers.

Just because astrology has been around for so long, thousands of years, does not mean there is nothing left to explore.

In this episode, I’m going to explain my current research into the Astrologer’s Holy Trinity and the highest-level temperature of the chart thus reducing it down to only four values.

Polarities

We used to refer to the two polarities in different ways than we do today.

  • Black and White
  • Masculine and Feminine
  • Positive and Negative
  • Active and Passive

I’ll be using the terms active and passive signs.

Balance

The very nature of energy on Earth is in balance.

In a way this can be seen by the magnetic North and the South Poles.

As I understand it, one pole ejects positive ions and the other pole absorbs them.

The poles swap back and forth over time and are somewhat aligned to the eleven-year sunspot cycle.

Magnets

In a bar magnet the magnetic lines can be seen when you tap iron filings.

They come out of one end and go back in the other.

The Sun

The Earth’s magnetic field has both a positive and a negative pole. This is similar to the Zodiac sign polarities.

Sign Polarity

Active Signs

The active signs are:

  • Aries
  • Gemini
  • Leo
  • Libra
  • Sagittarius
  • Aquarius

Passive Signs

The passive signs are:

  • Taurus
  • Cancer
  • Virgo
  • Scorpio
  • Capricorn
  • Pisces

Trinity Chart Components

There are three main components of a chart.

  • Ascendant
  • Sun
  • Moon

List your main component polarities in this order of importance.

First the Ascendant, then the Sun and then the Moon.

Examples

In this example we have, a Virgo Ascendant, a Cancer Sun and an Aries Moon.

This would be listed as (Virgo, Cancer, Aries) or (VI,CA,AR)

Which converts to (-, -, +)

The other options are:

+ + +

–  + +

+  + –

+ – +

– + –

– – +

+ – –

– – –

So what?

Well, it’s a high-level way to analyze the chart. Through a elevated approach of the core components with just Ascendant, Sun and Moon.

And it’s probably the highest.

Most will be either +2 and -1 or -2 and +1.

Let’s do the Maths

+2 -1 = +1

-2 +1 = -1

+3 = +3

-3 = -3

Results

There are only 4 options for a score.

-3, -1, +1 and +3

Interpretations of Final Four

Let’s start with some obvious keywords.

Minus Three

Super passive – Cold – Icy 💙

Minus One

Moderately passive – Chilled – Cool 💚

Plus One

Moderately active – Warm – Toasty 💛

Plus Three

Super active – Hot – Sizzling ❤️

Ongoing Research

This is as far as I’ve got with the Holy Trinities and the extension of plus one, plus three, minus one and minus three research.

Is this going somewhere?

I don’t know.

Is it useful for astrologers to know these hot numbers?

Time will tell.

Let me know what you think.

Episode 001: Transcript

Alison Price: Hi Starz, you’re listening to the Starzology Astrology Podcast with your host, Alison Price. In this episode, we’re going to be chatting with another astrologer and finding out their story about how they got into astrology.

Please welcome Arwynne who is a research astrologer here in Vancouver and we’ve been a, we’ve been friends for quite a while, and we are very happy to have you here today.

Arwynne O’Neill: Thank you. It’s good to be here.

Alison: Ah, it’s great having you. Our audience is interested to know how you started out in astrology and what was the first spark of interest that you had.

Arwynne: Sure. Well, I actually grew up in a family of sort of casual astrologers in a way. My grandmother and my mother were both very just into astrology in a casual way.

I think both of them at some point did charts for, for friends and, and maybe for a living here and there. It was just part of the conversation as I was growing up. It was always like, oh, I just met this person. They’re a Virgo with Leo Rising, blah, blah, blah. It was always just, before you’d even know what the person looked like, oh, this person was a Virgo.

It was the first thing that you’d find out about somebody. My mother, still to this day, when I tell her about a new friend or a, a new, co-worker, she’s, she’s like, what sign are they? ? And if I don’t know, well, oh, well, why haven’t you asked? So it’s just part of the conversation, and it always has been in, in my, in my childhood, in my life, the first spark of.

Sort of external to my family was Absolutely, and it, this is funny. This is a call back to your first episode where you talked about Suns by Linda Goodman. Yeah. I mean, we’re giving Linda Goodman a lot of, airtime here, but it was Love Signs. I have to admit, I still have it. It’s on the shelf.

It’s a big red book. Linda Goodman’s website. Linda. Good. You have a hardback copy then with the No, it’s a paper bag, but it’s a massive tone. It doesn’t need to be a hardback. Yes, it’s got the bright lurid red cover. Yeah. Linda Goodman’s love science, and I was 12. I was all of 12 years old, and so everything was about love.

Everything was about like the one true love. Just all of the romantic movies, all the romantic stories, the, the fact that there’s Peter Pan quotes at the beginning of every chapter. Yes. Which are just so poignant and true for every sign combination. And I did my sign and my boyfriend at the time, and my mother and her husband, and everyone and all the celebrities I could think of who were couples. I would read their, their little, chapter and, and found so much meaning in it. And that is definitely what sparked my, my interest in astrology was being a, a pubescent Linda Goodman fan girl. Wow. Yeah. That is amazing.

Alison: So, what you’re saying really is that you learned about astrology almost at the kitchen table in your own home.

Arwynne: It was, oh, absolutely. Just a matter of course, that astrology was part of your, your life as a, as a young girl. Absolutely.

Alison: And were they interested in other new age topics as well, or was it mainly astrology?

Arwynne: some, yeah. I mean, we had Tarot cards. We had crystals. We had, crystal necklaces and jewelry and things like that.

I mean, it was. Late seventies, early eighties, when I grew up. So there was a lot of that kind of stuff around and, and we were also like very much into science fiction and fantasy, like shows and movies. One of the things I remember vividly sitting around watching, watching Star Trek, the Next Generation with my mother and my stepfather. And we would like, figure out what their sun, moon, and rising signs were of all the characters. Oh, stop Trek, right? Yes. It’s just, just figuring out these, these fictional characters, like what, what signs are do they embody? Like, and I was watching the, the Picard show recently and I texted my mother and said, Picard is totally a Taurus with, Sagittarius rising in Moon in Aquarius and she was like, lol. Totally.

So we’ve done this all our lives. Yeah. Yeah

Alison: And then, when you got a bit older, did you take any formal lessons or did you just continue, self-learning?

Arwynne: It was really just self-learning. I mean, and actually I took about probably a 20 year break almost between, the Linda Goodman love signs and, and doing anything semi-professional or, even social with it.

It was all just, I collected the information for myself. I would obviously find out what sign my friends. Boyfriends or, coworkers were, and just for my own benefit, like, yeah, sometimes they would be like, why do you wanna know what time I was born? And I’m like, just for me, like, don’t worry.

I’m not gonna, do your chart or anything. You’re like, whatever. Okay. And most of them wouldn’t have wanted me to. No. So it was just, my own curiosity so I could use the information to get along with them better. And yeah, it helped me. And occasionally they would ask,

Alison: But what was the, what was the catalyst then, like the 20 years later that that brought you back? Was there something that cropped up?

Arwynne: Absolutely. I, well, I, I started asking my grandmother for book recommendations, and it’s funny because this is mid-nineties we had just gotten a computer, which is sounds so ridiculous. Yes. We had just gonna go a home computer.

Alison: And the neighbors came to look, right?

Arwynne: Well, no, it was, it was the internet. I mean, literally, I had the internet at work throughout the nineties and the, I think it was like 98 or something when I first got the internet at home. Right. It sounds ridiculous to say like imagine not having the internet at home. Like what?  but yeah, literally it was, it was just looking at websites and finding a bunch of astrology sites.

I mean, a bunch back then there were like, a handful of good ones. Yeah. astro.com was and still is. Amazing. Planet Waves I found, and Planet Waves was amazing because it was also political. And I remember the first thing that got me into it was, was rants about George W. Bush and the administration and the war in Iraq.

And, now we’re getting into the early two thousands. And his, his essays were, it was, it hit all kinds of different interests of mine. There was the astrology, but there was also politics. There was also social consciousness. And I, remember this one article that he had written where he said, well, okay, so Taurus, or sorry, Mars is going to Taurus and it’s gonna be retrograde.

And I looked at my chart and sure enough, I’ve got Mars and Taurus. And so he said,  if anyone out there wants to do some research into the history of Mars and Taurus retrograde, send me some, send me some events that have happened, like major events in, in the past. And I thought, well, that’s right up my alley.

So I wrote like three pages of research, just un, un . Whatever, and, and sent it in. And,  that sparked his interest. And so who, who is he? Oh, I’m, I’m so sorry. Eric Francis,  of Planet Waves. Eric Francis of Planet Waves. Yeah. And, and he wrote back to me right away, which was, it was kind of like getting, a spotlight from a celebrity.

And, and I wrote back to him and, and we started a sort of a correspondence and I ended up working,  for Planet Waves for like,  Doing research, writing articles. I, I traveled to Toronto to present at a conference on my Saturn Neptune opposition, article, which became a, a presentation. It was sort, kind of almost the cornerstone of, of the conference.

I mean, not to brag or whatever, but I was actually a little shocked because it was, Quite a, a prestigious conference, in its way. It was, it was kind of a small independent conference. Yeah. Not like these big, as they put it, Davos-style astrology conferences. Yes. With all the celebrities, but it was, it was, kind of a little bit of a big deal.

And, mine was one of the only presentations that didn’t have,  a competing event at the same time. And I didn’t know that until the day. And I was like, wow, there’s a lot of people signed up for this one. And they’re like, There’s nothing else going on at this time.  so I was incredibly nervous, but I, I did okay.

I basically just read my article, but I had a big, PowerPoint thing with all the,  all the photos of all these crazy events, and I basically went through the, the history of Saturn opposite Neptune in, in all these, previous cycles and, so I had like the,   like 1918. Spanish flu and all these different sort of epic water disasters that had happened, the Exxon Valdez.

Okay. And, and, and the, the flood of New Orleans in, in 2005. These all kind of happened like right on the dot of, of Saturn, Neptune oppositions. And it was like, heavy water was the name of the presentation that I did. It was like, heavy water, Saturn, Saturn, Neptune, amazing. And,  yeah.

So I had, I had like this huge slideshow with all these amazing photos and  it was a lot of. So that was, that was definitely the first sort of professional astrology thing that I was involved in. And Well, that’s, that sounds like it was an absolute, a spectacular entryway for you to Yeah to get it on a gig like that.

Yeah. back then. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So that was 2006 and,  yeah, that was the, that was the first sort of re-entry into astrology, publicly doing astrology. Yeah.

Alison: Interesting. Now, what could you tell us about, what do you really love about astrology? What is it that really attract. To the art of astrology?

Arwynne: Well, I mean, for me it really is. It’s an art and a science, which is something that I love about it. I’m,  I am an artist as well, but I’m sort of more of a, a crafty artist than like a, a creative artist. I’m not to say that I’m not creative, but,  I sew. Okay. And I, but I sew from patterns. I don’t, I don’t have these visions of a garment that I need to, somehow create, I, I can, I can craft something impeccably as a Virgo nice.

But, but with a pattern, and I can modify patterns to make something exactly as I want it. But I, I’m not the person who has these visions of something that doesn’t exist, that needs to be pulled into creation, like a, like a, a Pisces or something.

Alison: And. So do you see astrology as well as a creative artwork?

Arwynne: Really? I mean, it’s a creative, like the storytelling is, is the creative part for me. Yes. And so it’s taking all these elements which exist. They, they are mathematical, which, and, and I’m not a math fan. Yes. But what I, what I do love about it is the precision that you can find these exact dates, these exact cycles.

You can predict them way in advance thousands of years, project them back thousands of years and find these cycles that. And then find these historical correlations, because thank God for the internet, we can find all these, all these events. It, it takes very little research to, to say, show me all of the times that Pluto has been in Aquarius and then all of the, the major events that happened in those periods, and then compare them and say, oh my God, there’s, there’s actually, something in common with these things.

And wow, what can we learn about that? What. Due to predict something into the future. Right. And that’s what I’ve always loved about it was the, the precision and the, the practicality of it. The applicability of it to our lives and, and to, broader social and political and historical trends.

Alison: Wow. So you’re, you like the, almost, let me say the overarching cycles that are running behind in the background, not just, oh, it’s a new moon and blah blah.

Arwynne: Absolutely. Okay. In fact, I barely ever know where the. It surprises me every month when I see that it’s full. And my boyfriend always says, how can you not know you’re an astrologer? How can, how can you not know when the Moon’s full? And I’m like, yeah, it’s not my thing. It’s not your thing. So it’s super interesting that, yeah, the moon’s not my thing.

Alison: No, it’s not your thing. So, how would you say that you actually are using astrology, today in, in your practice?

Arwynne: It’s always something that I am aware of like when I’m watching Picard and I’m thinking, oh wow, he’s such a Taurus with Sagittarius rising in mooned, Aquarius, or what have you and I’m, I’m really fascinated with the broader cycles or the, the outer planets, where Pluto is, going into Aquarius and all of a sudden we’ve got chat GPT Yes. And self-driving cars. Yes. And. It’s crazy to me like how right on the date sometimes these things are. When, Uranus moved into, I believe it was Aries, Aries back in 2011 on the day the tsunami hits in, in Japan.

Tragic. It’s horrible, incredible, tragedy. But it’s, it’s these crazy events that you can kind. See the day sometimes. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. The corresponds with a movement of the outer planets and  and that’s the stuff that fascinates me. The, the generational cycles, but also like these major events that, that seem to correspond sometimes.

Yeah. So precisely. I mean, cuz we’re talking that Pluto just recently went into, Aquarius, what, two weeks ago? From, from today. And honestly, I too have now got into chatGPT and I. Whoa. Right.  Revolut, it’s transformed to revolutionize the actual,  the internet and the way we use computers. Very interesting indeed.

And it’s gonna be in, in Aquarius for the next 40 years. And what is that, what are the next 40 years gonna hold as far as ai? I mean, just that alone is a fascinating thought experiment. That’s a, yeah, that is definitely a topic for another day. I for sure, definitely explore that as well.

Alison: So now Arwyenne, could you tell us a little bit about your chart just for our listeners to, get a bit of an understanding of, of your chart standouts, or which, parts of your chart do you feel are more prominent and are drivers for you?

Arwynne: Sure. Well I am a Virgo. I’ve sort of triple Virgo. I’ve got the Sun, the Moon and Mercury, conjunct in Virgo in the 10th house.  so that’s definitely like my personality for sure. Core personality, like everything in its place. I’m a writer, blah, blah, blah. but I also have Scorpio rising and Wow, that is probably, the most noticeable thing about me first front and center.

I, even at the age of like, Say 12. I was, I, I went through a, not goth, but I mean, I was wearing lipstick and, my hair always was a different color and, okay. Okay. So you presented yourself. I I was always being mistaken for like 16 or 17 when I was like 12 or 13. And honestly it was the eighties.

It was a different time. Yes, yes, I understand. it’s,  there was no bad parenting involved. My mother was actually a little horrified by, the attention that I got. She’d seen my chart. She, she knew the deal. just obviously I just Scorpio rising responsibly is all I have to say about that.

Alison: And so with Scorpio is rising like that, would you say that Pluto is more dominant or Mars in your chart?

Arwynne: Honestly, it’s both really. It’s interesting because Mars is right on my descendant Mars and Taurus is literally conjunct my descendant and my partner is a scorp. And hilariously, his Sun is conjunct my rising, like within minutes his, he’s got two degrees or two, yeah, two degrees and like 11 minutes.

And my rising is two degrees, six minutes. So we couldn’t be more conjoined. And when we met it was, I hesitate to say love at first sight. Crazy. And yeah, it, we’ve just been inseparable literally ever since then. Amazing.

Alison: And what about the Pluto?

Arwynne: The Pluto, the Pluto? yeah. Pluto is in my 11th house, conjunct Venus, and those are in Libra. Okay. Very feminine there as well. They Okay. Like conjunct in Libra and Yeah. my relationships have always been life or death to me. I don’t. Casual relationships. I don’t understand casual friendships. it’s all in the 11th house. I, I don’t understand the point of being in a relationship where you wouldn’t kill or die for your partner.

Alison: Wow. Kill or be killed.

Arwynne: Yes. Yeah, exactly. And, and luckily I’ve,  had, incredibly good fortune or whatever you wanna say to, to have partners who feel the same way. Me. Super intense. Yes. Yeah and I’ve been with my, current partner for 25 years now.

Alison: So you need a medal for that one.

Arwynne: Yeah.

Alison: So would you, so you said, didn’t you just say that Pluto is conjoined Venus, and how do you think that may be expressed?

Arwynne: I was obsessed with Barbie from a very young age. and that’s a Venus thing, although lots of girls were, I did go through as, as I said, dancing maybe tiny goth phase. Yes. I just recently picked up,  burlesque and I also was,  I drew burlesque dancers for about 10 years.

In, we, we had this thing called, Dr. Sketchy’s, which is an art class. Bars that,  that just shut down because of Covid. Sadly, this is where all my art came from, from the last 10 years, is drawing these beautiful burlesque dancers who would,  would pose for three hours in bars. And,  and I met a lot of these burlesque dancers, who now wow, I have actually shared the stage with over the last year since I started doing this.  so this is amazing. And we’ll put a link to, we’ll put a link to some of your art, in the show notes as well. Sure, yeah. Yeah. So it’s, it’s super interesting that you’ve taken up this, expression of that Venus Yeah. Can join the Pluto. I think it’s actually hilarious. Also my grandmother in 1950s was a burlesque dancer briefly in really Hawaii. So it’s, it’s actually kind of a family. Funnily enough, she was a Sagittarius, but whatever. It’s, yeah, but I definitely do see that, Venus conjunct Pluto there. It’s, and it’s also the kind of, the, the owning your sexuality or owning that whole thing, whatever the empowerment sort of thing of it.

It’s, when my grandmother was doing it in the fifties, it was definitely not really about empowerment. It was, it was a little bit less, of a, of a thing back then, but I mean, from the pictures you’d never guess. you would just think, wow, she’s owning it. That’s amazing. what an icon.

and it was a little but also too grittier back then, but, but yeah, now it’s just all women. It’s all, . Well there’s also trans women. There’s also, wonderful. male to female, female to male. Like it’s all shapes and sizes and, and the dogs. It’s true. Everything. Yeah. Exactly. And it’s a really amazing community and it’s a lot of fun.

It’s really cool. It’s quite an expression. Yeah. Quite a, a visual expression of those two entities coming together in the chart. Yeah. Super interesting. Yeah. And also, as you say, it’s in the 11th house, so that is, as you say, it’s a, a troupe. Like, so there’s community. The 11th house is all about your, your friends and your community and sort of your, your social your squad.

Alison: Squad.

Arwynne: Yeah, exactly. Squad goals. Yeah.

Alison: Great. Now the next thing I just wanna have a chat with you about is, Very often, when people have in interviews and conversations on podcasts, they do this lightning round tea, coffee, cat or dog. But because we are astrologers, what, what I’m gonna be doing is what we are calling the Holy Trinity, and that is your Ascendant, Sun Moon in that order and, we are just going to have a quick chat about that. Could you tell us your Ascendant, Sun and Moon?

Arwynne: Scorpio is Scorpio Rising Scorpio, descendant of Virgo Sun and Virgo Moon. So we are saying, Scorpio. Virgo. Virgo. Yeah. Which is super interesting because, I, I’ve, I’ve been looking into this, pattern of the polarities of the active and passive.

Alison: Mm-hmm, and, the combinations, and I think there’s only 16 (actually 8) combinations are, will link to the website, post about this.

So in your particular case, it would be passive, passive, passive, which is a combinnation which actually expresses who you are for sure.

Arwynne: Oh, yeah. In a very deep way.

Alison: So it’s super interesting and I believe that, going forward or in the future doesn’t want to say going forward in the future.

I’d be interested to just ask those things about people’s charts. Yeah. Because I don’t think that’s giving too much away and it’s a great way to, tap into the astrology rather than the cat dog thing. Yeah or coffee tea beause nobody cares. But we wanna know what’s your Ascendant, Sun and Moon is.

And of course if you go to an astrology conference and you have that little tag on your shirt, it. A sentence on Moon.

Arwynne: I wish people had to wear those everywhere.

Alison: Yeah, and then you, you go up to the people who think, yeah, no, I’m not gonna talk to that one. Let me talk to this one. Because you can see what their signs are.

So that’s a super interesting thing. Yep. Exactly. So, Arwynne, if our listeners would like to see some of your artworks, is it okay if we put a link in the show notes?

Arwynne: Absolutely.

Alison: Where they can see the type of work you’re doing?

Arwynne: Absolutely. That would be great.

Alison: Lovely. Well, thank you very much for being here with us today it’s been a pleasure as always.

Arwynne: Thank you. It’s been wonderful to be here. Thank you.

Vocational Astrology

Vocational Astrology

Introduction

While the terms “job,” “career” and “vocation” are often used interchangeably, they have slightly different meanings. In your birth chart the three are indicated by different components as well.

Finding your vocation is not a one-time event but a continuous process of self-discovery and growth. With patience, perseverance, and an open mind, you can discover a path that aligns with your values, interests, and skills, and find fulfillment and purpose in your work.

Job

A job is typically a specific task or series of tasks that a person performs in exchange for compensation. It is often temporary or short-term and may not require a high level of skill or training.

For example, a part-time job at a retail store, a summer internship, or a freelance project can be considered a job. People may have multiple jobs throughout their lives and may not have a specific career path in mind.

In your birth chart your job is shown by your sixth house complex.

Career

A career refers to a series of jobs or positions that an individual holds over the course of their working life. Careers are often associated with a specific profession or field and are generally viewed to achieve financial stability and success. While some people may feel a strong sense of vocation towards their chosen career, others may view it as simply a means to an end.

A career is a long-term profession chosen and developed over time. It requires a higher level of education, skill, and training and often involves a clear pathway for advancement and growth. Careers are typically more stable and provide a sense of fulfillment and purpose.

For example, becoming a doctor, lawyer, engineer, or teacher can be considered a career. People may have one or multiple careers throughout their lives and may work for different employers in the same field.

In your birth chart your career is shown by your Midheaven, tenth house complex and sometimes by Saturn.

Vocation

A vocation is a calling or a sense of purpose that drives an individual towards a particular type of work. It’s often considered a deep-seated passion or a natural inclination towards a certain profession or field.

Vocations are typically associated with personal fulfillment and a sense of meaning and purpose in life. People with a strong vocational calling often feel a sense of satisfaction and joy from their work, even if it’s not financially rewarding.

In your birth chart your vocation is shown by your Oriental Planet complex.

Different but Similar

While a job, vocation and career are different concepts, they can overlap in certain situations.

For example, a person who feels a strong vocational calling towards teaching may choose to pursue a career as a teacher. In this case, their career and vocation align, allowing them to find both personal fulfillment and financial success in their work. This is shown by the complexities in your unique birth chart.

Motivation

Ultimately, the difference between job, vocation and career lies in the motivation and purpose behind the work. While all can lead to professional success, a vocation is driven by a deeper sense of purpose and personal fulfillment, while a job or career is generally focused on financial stability and advancement within a particular field.

How to Find Your Vocation

Finding your vocation in life can be a challenging but rewarding journey. A vocation is a strong sense of calling or purpose in life, where your talents and interests align with a meaningful and fulfilling occupation.

Here are some steps you can take to find your vocation:

Self-reflection

Start by asking yourself questions about your values, interests, and skills. Reflect on what you enjoy doing, what you are good at, and what you care about. Think about how you want to contribute to the world and what kind of impact you want to make.

Explore Different Options

Research and explore different career paths that align with your interests and skills. Consider talking to people who work in those fields to gain insight into what their day-to-day work entails. Attend career fairs, take courses, and volunteer to gain hands-on experience and exposure.

Experiment

Take risks and try new things to discover your strengths and limitations. Take on new challenges and opportunities that can help you build your skills and confidence and to learn about your strengths and limitations. Consider internships, part-time jobs, or freelance work to gain experience and exposure.

Seek Guidance

Consider seeking guidance from your astrologer, mentor, career coach, or counselor. They can provide you with valuable advice, feedback, and support as you navigate your journey towards finding your vocation.

Stay Open and Flexible

Keep an open mind and stay flexible as you explore different paths. Be willing to pivot and adjust your goals as you gain new insights and experiences.

Identify Your Passions

Start by making a list of things that excite and inspire you. Consider your hobbies, interests, and any activities that you enjoy doing in your free time. Identifying your passions is a process of self-discovery and exploration.

Pay Attention to Your Emotions

Pay attention to the activities that make you feel happy, energized, and fulfilled. These can be good indicators of your passions.

Think Back to Your Childhood

Consider the activities that you enjoyed doing as a child. Did you have any hobbies or interests that you were particularly passionate about?

Consider Your Values

Think about what is important to you and what you believe in. What kind of causes or issues do you feel strongly about?

Try New Things

Be open to trying new things and stepping outside of your comfort zone. This can help you discover new passions and interests.

Take a Personality Test

Consider taking a personality test that can help you identify your strengths and interests. This can be a good starting point for discovering your passions.

Keep a Journal

Write down your thoughts and feelings about different activities that you try. This can help you identify which ones bring you the most joy and fulfillment.

Pay Attention to your Energy Levels

Notice which activities give you energy and which ones drain you. Activities that give you energy are more likely to be aligned with your passions.

Contemplate Your Talents

Think about the skills and talents that come naturally to you. What do you excel at? These can be good indicators of your passions.

Talk to People

Talk to friends, family, and colleagues about their interests. This can help you discover new ideas and perspectives.

Follow Your Curiosity

Be curious about the world around you and explore different topics. You never know where your passions may lie.

Consider Your Skills

Think about the skills you have developed throughout your life, both through formal education and work experience. Consider what comes naturally to you and what you excel at.

Explore Different Vocations

Research and learn about different careers that interest you. Read articles, attend career fairs, and talk to people who work in those fields.

Volunteer

Volunteer in areas that interest you to gain hands-on experience and exposure to different types of work.

Take Courses

Take courses in areas that interest you to gain knowledge and skills that can help you in your career.

Take a Vocational Class

If you are an Aspiring Astrologer you can sign up for a private vocational astrology class.

Pluto in Aquarius

Pluto in Aquarius

Pluto in Aquarius

Astrological News for 2023

The biggest Astrological update for the year 2023 is that the dwarf planet Pluto, ruler of Scorpio, will leave cardinal earth Capricorn and enter the new sign of fixed air sign Aquarius the Water Bearer.

This is huge and will affect everyone for many years to come.

When an outer planet (Uranus, Neptune of Pluto) shifts signs it changes the background energy for all charts and horoscope work.

Pluto’s Orbit

Pluto’s Time Scale

Pluto takes around 240 years to go around the Zodiac, so it was back in. 1798 when Pluto last left the sign of the Water Bearer.

Because Pluto takes so long to transit through each sign, we generally have twenty to thirty years of one Pluto influence by sign.

The Pluto in Capricorn influence is beginning to fade.

Pluto in Aquarius Fireside Chat – Video

In this video, I chat with my good friend and research astrologer Arwynne O’Neill about the Pluto Aquarius ingress. You can see Arwynne’s mini bio and contact details at the end of this post.

Planets in Transit

The book which Arwynne references in the above video is Planets in Transit by Robert Hand. This is truly the forecasting astrologer’s bible.

Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

And if you look closely at the banner at the top of this screen, Robert Hand has been a favorite author of mine and his books have been on my bookshelf for many years.

Pluto in Aquarius – Three Ingresses

First Ingress

For the first time in living memory, Pluto initially ingresses, or enters, Aquarius on March 23, 2023.

Pluto then retrogrades back into Capricorn on June 12, 2023, where it remains for around six months.

Second Ingress

Next Pluto enters Aquarius for the second time on November 19th, 2024 to remain for four months.

Then it again retrogrades back into Capricorn.

Third Ingress

Pluto finally moves into Aquarius on November 19th, 2024 to stay for a long time.

From this point onwards Pluto will transit Aquarius for nineteen years until it leaves to enter Pisces on March 9, 2043.

This means that Pluto will be in Aquarius for around twenty years give or take a whisker.

Pluto’s Symbolism

Power

The concept of power, and personal power is a theme for Pluto.

Where you have personal power, or you give it away is shown by the Pluto placement in your chart.

As Pluto transits through Aquarius, it will trigger power issues, power plays and power imbalances, particularly between the sexes, in life.

Transformation

The main symbolism I use for Pluto is when a boring, green, nondescript caterpillar stuck on one tree, turns into a fabulous, colorful and delicate butterfly, which can fly away and mate.

Pluto is the transformational planet in astrology as it changes or metamorphoses everything it touches.

Lifecycles

The cycle of birth, life and death is attributed to Pluto.

We all are born, will live and eventually die and this ongoing life cycle is ruled by Pluto.

This concept can also be applied to self-regeneration and making yourself over like you, but 2.0.

Pluto’s ability to birth a vibrant phoenix from the ashes is a powerful image for this process.

Every time you do a makeover, or change yourself inside or outside, consciously, it is under the influence of Pluto’s regenerative energy.

Aquarius’ Themes

Society

Aquarius has an affinity with society and the faceless people in general.

This means Aquarius pertains to the resources that should be for everyone like water, food and shelter. You can go one step further and say health care and prosperity options.

The Collective

It is concerned with the collective and humanity in general. This is not a sign worried with selfish egos.

Discrimination

Aquarius is the sign associated with stamping out discrimination in all forms. Human rights, women’s rights, children’s rights and all other “rights” are the remit of Aquarius.

Freedom of speech as the core tenant of democracy is a feature of Aquarius.

Pluto in Aquarius Themes

As Pluto begins to transit through Aquarius, we can anticipate themes of transformation in several areas.

Social Reform

We can expect major and deeply effective social reforms for everyone.

This may play out as protests and riots in the streets of first world countries to raise awareness of exactly what goes on in the rest of the world.

The entitlement bubble that many people live in will be truly popped, and reality will come knocking at everyone’s door.

Gender Realignment

Each year there are a few overarching planetary trends that set the backdrop for the year.

In 2023 we have three major planetary sign changes bring a focus to three specific signs.

1 Saturn enters Pisces

On March 7th the ringed plant Saturn will leave its traditional home of Aquarius and enters Pisces for the first time in thirty years.

This is a huge shift of energy. Saturn has spent the last five years moving through its own signs of Capricorn and then Aquarius where it is strong.

Saturn in Pisces is entirely different. We can anticipate several themes unfolding during the 2 1/2 years when Saturn is in Pisces.

2 Pluto Enters Aquarius

The biggest sign change of a planet’s sign is in March as Pluto leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius as on March the 23rd, Pluto enters Aquarius for the first time in living memory.

Pluto will go back into Capricorn between June 2023 and January 2024 and again from September 2024 to November 2024 when it will remain in Aquarius until March 2043.

Thus, spending about twenty years in Aquarius and creating a generation of millions of people born with Pluto in Aquarius.

3 Jupiter Enters Taurus

On May the 16th, Jupiter will enter Taurus for twelve months and will be there until May 2024.

Jupiter usually spends just one year in each sign.

This bring opportunity is the nature of the sign and in this case, Taurus.

Who this Will Affect

Jupiter’s passage will create great opportunities for all Taurean Sun sign people as the great planet moves through the sign and conjoins their natal Suns.

I will add more info here soon.

Saturn in Pisces

How Saturn’s Energy in Pisces will Manifest

The two-and-a-half-year transit of Saturn through Pisces from 2023 to 2025 will affect all Pisces folks as Saturn draws close and makes a conjunction to your natal Sun.

If will also affect anyone with other planets in Pisces or those people with a Pisces Ascendant or Pisces Midheaven.

To a lesser extent this dynamic energy shift will affect people with chart points, like the North or South Node, the Vertex or the Part of Fortune, in Pisces.

For the full transcript of this podcast episode please scroll to the bottom of this page.

Saturn Transit Position

Only as Saturn moves to within 1°, both applying and separating to your Sun, planets or chart points in Pisces will there be a focus affect for you.

In general, it is not a two-and-a-half-year effect to your natal chart.

Saturn in Pisces: Video

Watch the video below where I chat with intergrative astrologer Christine Linwood about the transit of Saturn through Pisces.

Saturn in Pisces and Your Sun Sign

Saturn Aspects to Your Sun – Time Frame

While Saturn is in Pisces it will aspect every Sun sign and this will be different depending on the aspect being formed.

Some aspects are easy, some are challenging and some are neither.

Additionally, as Saturn moves quite slowly, its influence will only come into play when Saturn gets to be within one degree of the perfection of the aspect to your Sun.

Virgo Sun signs

Will receive an opposition from Saturn to your Sun which will probably present as authority figure like your parents, your boss or the government restricting your activities somehow.

Gemini and Sagittarius Sun Signs

Gemini and Sagittarians will receive squares to their natal Sun from Saturn. Squares usually show up as internal struggles with yourself. You may be stopped in your tracks as your make judgements about how you should move forward. Use this time to carefully consider and take your time. There is no rush where Saturn is concerned.

Cancer and Scorpio Sun Signs

The two water signs of Cancer and Scorpio will receive positive energy from Saturn as it make a trine to your Sun signs.

This is likely to present as mastering something in your life.

Aries and Aquarius Sun Signs

The two adjacent signs to Pisces, Aries and Aquarius, may not see much energy either up or down as Saturn moves through Pisces because Saturn will make a semi-sextile to your Sun position.

Leo and Libra Sun Signs

For Leo and Libra, this transit will probably manifest as many adjustments having to be made as Saturn make the irritating quincunx aspect to your Sun position.

Saturn in Pisces in 2023

During 2023 Saturn will only cover the first seven degrees of Pisces. This will specifically affect people born between the 19th and the 26th of February in any given year. These people will receive a triple conjunction from Saturn to their Sun in 2023.

As Saturn retrogrades in the early part of 2023 it brings a higher concentration of its energy to certain parts of the sign and particularly the first quarter or initial seven degrees of Pisces.

Saturn in Pisces What to Expect

Additionally, your relationship with any cousins or siblings will probably take a serious tone now.

Transcript

Alison: Hi Starz. Welcome back. So today I’m here with my good friend Arwynne O’Neill, and in this episode we’re going to be discussing Saturn in Pisces. So, Arwynne, I think you have quite a little bit of information for us about this current transit.

Arwynne: I did a bit of research. Yeah. Yeah, it’s an interesting one. It’s an, yeah.

Alison: So, what can you tell us for. Saturn in Pisces.

Arwynne: Well, it, will be going, well. It, it actually did go into Pisces on March 8th, 2023. Right. And it will be there until March 24th, 2026. So that’s a good, a good three years solid right there. Solid. the last, well it was in Aquarius, obviously previous to this, and that was from December 17th, 2020. Yeah. To March 7th, 2023. So that, that, kind of gives you an interesting. It’s most of Covid, for example. all the things that have happened, are kind of characteristic of Saturn and Aquarius and we, don’t have to talk about that, but

Alison: Alrighty. Yeah. So, what is the shift how do, we think it may be expressed?

Arwynne: Well, I mean, obviously. It’s, it’s a big shift from Aquarius to Pisces. They’re very different signs. some of the sign changes tend to be, kind of a little more flowing. I think like Virgo to Libra isn’t all that jarring. Sagittarius to Capricorn is sort of a little smoother, but, but Aquarius to Pisces, that’s the jarring one.

And then, Pisces to Aries is another like very jarring kind of, kind of transit. So it’s, I think definitely, we will see. Some, some different, sort of feeling of, like, well, first of all, obviously, let’s talk about what Saturn means. Okay. What is Saturn? Saturn is about restriction.

It’s about limitation. It’s about structures. Mm-hmm. government control, tradition. Yeah.

Alison: If you, if our listeners wanted to explore something a little more, do you have any particular book that you’d like to recommend that they go to?

Arwynne: Well, obviously Liz Green’s, Saturn a New Look at an Old Devil. That’s the new look at the old sort devil, the OG. she’s definitely, it’s a classic. It’s a classic for sure. It’s a classic. Yeah. There’s probably been some written since then, but some things are classics for a reason. interesting. Yeah. Yeah.

Alison: Great.

Arwynne: Yeah. So Pisces obviously is a water sign. It’s the wateriest of the water signs. It’s  about creativity, spirituality, sort of addiction, religion, water for sure. Yes, yes. a lot of interesting things around water, sort of. Occur in, flowing and morphing. Yeah, exactly. And, and this sort of dissolving of boundaries and, and Saturn is about boundaries, so, right.

So, this, it’s an interesting clash Yes. Of meanings. So, Saturn’s trying to make boundaries, but PIs you say, no, no, let’s not have any, interestingly, yeah. Yeah. So, we have weird sort of, Oxymoron type of things. Yes. That, that come up like, like spirituality and religion. but then we have, sort of, authoritarian, Religion and, and the sort of, very structural religion sort of, returns to traditional values, right?

And, that kind of thing. So things that seem like they’re in conflict or, or their meanings are sort of, opposite, but, but really they, We do see them a lot in, in, in society. we have water issues that come up, environmental issues with water. but there’s a lot of environment, environmental regulations that occur around water when, when Saturn’s in Pisces.

So, policies and regulations about water pollution, for example, or, or, possibly about, Bridge, retrofitting, you know. Okay, so protecting down walls or something. Dams and, yeah, exactly. water, what do they call them? The, the water walls, where like in, in the Netherlands or whatever, where they have them.

Alison: Oh, yeah. So, right. Okay.

Arwynne: Yeah, exactly. Things like that. Levees, levees, whatnot. or, or just regulations that protect waterways. Okay. So things like that. It’s, yeah.

Alison: Yeah. And it’s interesting that you talk about, traditional over spirituality because what I was actually thinking about, as you were saying that was this, this coronation we’re having of Charles King. Charles is getting, right, he’s, it is his coronation and which is that traditionally, done it, it’s been done the same way for like 10,000 years or something.

Arwynne: Yeah.

Alison: And now, he’s changing things and he’s making adjustments and he’s, bending the rules, to suit 2023, which is kind of interesting.

And there’s quite a lot of, people have got a lot to say about it on both sides of the argument. Yeah. Interesting. Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, that was an aside.

Arwynne: Yeah, for sure. Yeah. What sign is he?

Alison: I believe he’s a Scorpio.

Arwynne: Oh yeah, that’s right. How could I forget? Oh, yeah. Interesting. Another thing that’s a, a very Pisces sort of aspect of, of society is art and creativity.

And of course, Saturn brings challenges and restrictions to whatever it touches. And art is definitely being challenged in one way that we know right now, which is this whole AI art thing. and it’s amazing. What they can do. Yeah, absolutely. And, where is the artist going to be? If you can just call up any kind of, creation in, at the snap of a finger. Yes. Whatever you wanna say. Yes. Yes. at, at the prompt that that, where is authorship, where is identity, all of these things. And, that kind of challenge is, is definitely already happening in the art world.

Alison: And, what’s, what’s going to happen over the next couple of years while Saturn is in Pisces and, and this challenge is, is occurring to, do you think they’re into bringing some restrictions about?

Arwynne: We, if you, if the AI created the art, you can’t hang it in the gallery. I mean, and say it was yours. There are surely going to be restrictions and laws and lawsuits. Lawsuits are already beginning to happen over, over, authorship and I, people who feel they’ve been defamed by the chatbot. Oh, people who feel like, they’re, they’re being represented by the AI in a way that’s unflattering, they’re suing for libel.

And obviously artists are, are trying to find ways of, of either putting restrictions in or suing or, or somehow digitally signing things or, yeah, I, I. Who knows where this will go.

Alison: Gosh. But it’s a really interesting time.

Arwynne: Yes. And also, as one of the things that Pisces does is, Saturn and Pisces, could be like a return to some sort of traditional forms of art.

Alison: Right.

Arwynne: Communal forms of art.

Alison: Right.

Arwynne: So, dance, Classical, classical forms of art. Mm-hmm. different things like that. also psychedelic art is an interesting kind of, PIs intake on, on art that’s have had a huge resurgence. collaborative art forms, ecstatic or spiritual art forms is, is another possible way that this could be playing out. And, yeah. That, is gonna be really interesting to watch. And it also leads to, the need for novel approaches and novel, more creativity. So obviously there’s a challenge, but there’s also. Innovation that comes from, from the challenge and the restriction as it always does. That’s in, in art and in That’s right. Human endeavors.

Alison: I’ve always thought that the art, that, when, when Saturn is going through there, is that like murals on a wall where you’ve got this massive wall and multiple people could like, contribute to.

Arwynne: Absolutely. We’ve got an awful lot in our city. That’s amazing. I love them. I, I’ve actually I will frequently stop and take pictures of the, the mural. That’s amazing. And that’s, that’s something that can’t be done digitally, like That’s right. Yeah. And it’s like someone’s concretely, it’s just, it’s the sad thing. Yeah. The wall thing. Yeah. Literally concrete. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely.

Alison: Interesting.

Arwynne: Yeah. And one more thing that, that I’m seeing as a possible thing that’s gonna be coming up in the next couple of years is, is. Collective unconscious. And, Pisces being this, this watery sort of subterranean, subconscious, unconscious sort of energy. And Saturn, Saturn influencing that, or, or Pisces influencing this Saturn, however you wanna say so there could be a lot of social and poli political issues coming up around mental health addiction, neuro divergence and collective trauma. PTSD, what have you. These, the psychedelics that are now being used to treat ptsd.

Alison: Okay. That’s a really interesting thing.

Arwynne: So the government is now. The sanctioning, especially for war veterans the use of psychedelic medicines to, to bring people out of, the, trauma that they had from being in war. Yes. Which is this fascinating, I think very sort of Saturn and Pisces thing, where you’re saying, okay, so these things that we’ve vilified, these medicines, these, these chemicals, these plants that we’ve vilified for, now dozens of years and said like this, you’ll go to jail forever.

Alison: Right.

Arwynne: But now we’re saying, okay. Maybe these can be actually used to treat people and, and bring them out of this horrible, crippling trauma and depression from being in war, which is an amazing, I think, convergence of, of history and yeah, these energies, which is, so are you saying you think that there’s going to be a relaxing on, on the, the laws or the Absolutely.

The government is dictating the use of these product a hundred percent products and I’m, we’re already seeing it for sure.

Alison: Yeah.

Arwynne: Yes, it’s, yes. It’s fascinating and I think long overdue. Yeah. Wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like, this is also an interesting time in, talking about the collective unconscious, where it’s, it’s not even an unconscious thing, but the, the collective sort of, Experience of, escapism and manufactured realities as maybe a coping mechanism for the, the trauma of just dealing with everyday life.

Yes. So massively multiplayer video games is one thing. meta the metaverse. Yeah. This is whatever you think of meta as a company, as a concept. it’s happening. Virtual reality has been promised for like, decades now. It’s, it’s here. Yeah. And what could be more. Saturn, Pisces then like a technology that allows you to enter into like a collective reality.

Yes. That’s, that’s not really real, but it, is Yeah.

Alison: It’s interesting.

Arwynne: Yeah. So, I think that’s, that’s definitely another, another Saturn, Pisces thing. So are, are you thinking that more and more people are going to be like, dare I say, sucked into these things rather than living with. In the real world almost, that these like video game types environments will be more appealing to a place to be rather than having to, to struggle with the realities of, well, it’s kind of like how, like escapism, I mean Yeah.

But it’s kind of like how Covid forced us all indoors. Yes. And, and then we found ourselves on Zoom in. in Zoom meetings with, with all of the invasive, pervasiveness of, of Yes. Like a 24 hour, workday in some cases for some people and, and in some companies and, and then, never being able to turn it off.

Like what could be more prices than that. Like the, the metaverse has you, it’s true. Yes. Yeah. But, but at the same time, it, it, there are escapist, like, what’s the word? Recreational forms of that and okay, these, you turn off one screen and then you enter the other screen and that’s your, your other 12 to 16 hours reality.

Yeah. You need never go outside again. Well, and it sounds tempting at times, I have to say. Yeah.

Alison: Yeah. Interesting.

Arwynne: I mean, some people were obviously, All too ready to enter that anyway. I mean, I don’t think that’s everybody. I don’t certainly think that that’s, it’s not something that’s gonna attempt people who are already, outdoorsy and mm-hmm.

Just, going out and hiking and biking every day and, they’re not gonna suddenly be like, oh, I need to play World of Warcraft. Yes. Every minute of every day. but, but yeah, maybe these things, obviously, all the screens are, are, tempting our attention and true and being made to be addictive.

In ways that seductively addictive. Yes, absolutely. Yes. Yeah. The algorithms, they exist to, to grab your attention and to keep your attention as long as possible, which is, it’s an interesting thing to think that these companies and, they, they exist in a way to create addiction, which is a yes.

A PIs, thing.

Alison: And then, what, sorry to cut you off there, but then the, What, as part as certainly is going through Pisces, which, which science do you think it’s actually going to affect more than others? Or is everybody going to be affected in the same way, would you say?

Arwynne: Well, I mean, definitely not everyone’s gonna be affected in the same way.

Right? It’s hard to predict. Everyone’s chart is different, obviously. These are, these are broad energies, like everything from Saturn on out is, is. A generational or like a transpersonal, planets. Yes. If you’ve got, say, say you’ve got the Sun and PIs, it’s definitely going to come your way, isn’t it?

Alison: Yeah.

Arwynne: I mean obviously then you have Saturn conjunct your sun at some point, which is, that’s, yeah, that’s something to for sure. Always be aware of. You wanna know where, where those planets are, where they’re gonna be touching your chart. and even if you don’t have anything in Pisces, you, everyone has Pisces somewhere in their chart, correct?

Yes. So maybe you have Pisces Rising or maybe. Pisces is on your midheaven and it’s gonna be touching your, your, the midheaven obviously being your career.

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: Or your, your, expression in the world, your, your face to the, to the world or your, your career. Yes. so it’s interesting as these planets are transiting through the chart.

Alison: Yeah. And they’re all moving all the time, but some are more heavy hitters and I think Saturn is one of those planets for sure.

Arwynne: Yeah. I think that’s on its business card. Saturn the heavy hitter. Yeah. Yeah. Perhaps it is. Perhaps it is. Yeah.

Alison: Do you have anything in Pisces at all though?

Arwynne: No.

Alison: No. Neither do I dodged a bullet there, but yeah.

Arwynne: But, for, I think for those who do have planets in Pisces it will, it will be Saturn’s common and calling. Yes, definitely. Yeah. And it’s not necessarily a bad thing either. Mm-hmm. I’m trying to think back to when Saturn was. Going through, let’s see, where would it have been really impactful for me?

Alison: So when he went through Scorpio, I suppose, right?

Arwynne: Yeah. And when was that? Oh, it must have been a while. We, we don’t know. We don’t, it was a while ago. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Cause Sam takes around 30 years, right? To go, yeah. All the way through the zodiac. So, the last time it was in Pisces was what, 30 years ago?

Alison: Really?

Arwynne: Yeah. And okay, so this is the thing. I mean, what, what you wanna make sure to look. At in your chart is where you have Saturn. If you have Saturn in Pisces, you are coming up for a Saturn return. That is big thing. That is a big thing. It’s a big thing. I distinctly and vividly remember literally the day of my first Saturn return, and I say first because my second is coming up in a few years, whatever, whatever.

Right, right. haven’t really marked it on the calendar yet, but it’s looming. but yeah, I mean the very, and my, my Saturn is in Cancer and that was a year. Holy crap that I remember the day actually, and I came home and I was like, what is happening? I was in tears. I was hyperventilating on the street, like just walking home from an appointment and.

And I got home and I was like, what is happening? And I looked and it was literally that day that my Saturn return had hit, so to speak.

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: Yeah. I will never forget. But it doesn’t always happen that way for people. It frequent, frequently does though. But Saturn’s got the reputation, doesn’t it?

Alison: For sure.

Arwynne: Return. Yeah. It’s wonderful. So those of you who’ve got Saturn in and Pisces, you, you, you’ve got a return either just happened or, yeah. And these are people who are like in their late twenties to, to 30, 28 to 30 years old-ish. Which, obviously that is,

Alison: or 60 ish as well.

Arwynne: Right, exactly. Second Saturn return and these are, these are sort of pivotal times anyway, right?

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: Like, in our society. Yeah. Turning those ages.

Alison: Yeah. I think we, we need to, in the future we’ll definitely have a chat about Saturn returns in great detail as well, because there’s actually a lot to it there for sure. Many people actually turn to astrology at that point.

Arwynne: Yeah.

Alison: So, yeah. Super interesting. Yeah.

Arwynne: Yeah. So look at your chart. Absolutely know where your Saturn is and what you’ve got in Pscess, coz this is going to be affected now.

Alison: Yeah. Would you say that when Saturn goes through Pisces, say if you had the Moon in Pisces that it would just nonchalantly go by? Or are we going to know about this transit?

Arwynne: I mean, it’s interesting that you use the moon as an example because as I’ve I’ve said, I think a few times, the moon, I, I don’t really notice in, in my chart, my chart has. My chart, my, the moon is like not connected to anything. It’s, it’s loosely, it’s not compute, it’s loosely conjunct. My Sun, they’re both in Virgo, but there’s like 10 degrees separating them.

some people know exactly where the Moon is all the time. They can feel it when it’s full. They know everything about the Moon in their chart. And for me, it’s just not a thing. so I would say it’s definitely a thing for some people. It depends on how connected you are with the planets that you have in Pisces.

If you have the Moon in Pisces and you are very connected to it and it’s touching all kinds of other things in your chart, I would say definitely be prepared for some upheaval. Yeah. or restrictions even. Obviously upheaval isn’t really a Saturn word, but, but yeah, I mean, be prepared for some restrictions, some limitations, maybe.

I dare I say like, be careful with your taxes. You don’t wanna get audited. What are Saturn Things like, government intrusion. Yeah. Like you, wanna make sure that you’ve kind of done everything right. You know that you’re not Yeah. You know? Inviting any kind of, restriction or, intrusion into your way of life.

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: You know?

Alison: Yes. It, and to go back to, the Moon, what you were just saying. Mm-hmm. And I too, I have to say I’m very much a solar girl. Yeah. I know where the Sun is, what potting and when the equinox is and solar eclipses. But the moon, I’m not tracking it. it just doesn’t, as you say, it just doesn’t, yeah appeal to me. astrologically much interesting.

Arwynne: Yeah.

Alison: So now, just, one other thing that I was thinking of that when you were last on the show, you were talking to us about how your, when you launched into using astrology publicly, you actually gave a lecture to conference about Neptune and Saturn and I was wondering if maybe you could make that link available for our listeners.

Arwynne: I would love to. It was about the opposition of, of Saturn and Neptune back in 2006. Okay. And, what’s interesting about that now is that, they’re not conjunct this time around, but they are both in Pisces.

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: At this, at this time. and they won’t actually be conjunct again until the next time Saturn goes into Pisces, which is in, 2052.

But they will be very close. Okay. this time around because they’re both in Pisces. And, and that is a really interesting energy. Obviously the, the opposition is different from the conjunction. Sure. Very, similar but, but different, it’s part of the same cycle and, and obviously the conjunction and the opposition are, are sort of the two, the big aspects.

Alison: That’s right. So that would be great if we have, some of our listeners maybe wanted to dig a little deeper into what we were saying here and, find out a little bit more about the type of work you’ve been doing as well.

Arwynne: Yeah. Thank you. Great. It’s a really interesting historical cycle like Saturn and Neptune are a fascinating, kind of, it was called Heavy Water, so that’s heavy water Saturn, Neptune Heavy Water.

Alison: Yeah well you could still call it that now because Saturn’s in Pisces, right?

Arwynne: Absolutely.

Alison: I mean the two key words I came up were with limiting beliefs. Yeah. Which is the two combinations of the two. but heavy water works just as well actually, which is, which is kind of interesting too.

Arwynne: Yeah, yeah.

Alison: Okay, Arwynne. Well, thanks so much for, joining us today and, we look forward to having you on the show again in the future.

Arwynne: Thanks so much, Alison. I look forward to it as well.

Horoscope Monthly Overview

January 2023 Monthly Overview

Here are the main planetary energy shifts and changes that will be in effect during January 2023.

Ingresses

In January, two planets change signs with one planet dashing through the zodiac to enter two new signs.

Venus

On January 3rd, Venus the ruler of Taurus and Libra, enters Aquarius. Venus is not particularly comfortable in the Fixed Air sign and may struggle to express herself well here.

For Aquarians

If you are an Aquarian, Venus will conjoin your Sun at some time either this month or next. Venus is known as the lesser benefic and she is typically a good thing. Money and love are Venus’ two main areas of influence.

For Pisces

Fortunately, at the end of the month on January 27th, Venus slips quietly into Pisces. Venus is in exaltation in the Mutable Water sign of the which means she can express her bounty well for almost everyone. If you are a Pisces then at some point Venus will stimulate your natal Sun to bring you some personal grace and favor into your life.

The Sun

In the third week of the month the Sun leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius.

Aquarius Season

This is known as Aquarius season even though it only lasts around thirty days. Where the Sun travels, Mercury and Venus are not far behind, which brings a lot of planetary energy to the sign.

Lunations

Full Moon

The Full Moon occurs in the middle of its home sign at 16° Cancer on January 6th. This is the best time for a home-cooked dinner with family in the early evening as the Full Moon rises.

For Cancerians

The Moon loves being in her own sign of the Crab and now you can explore your feelings clearly, if briefly.

Always pay attention to your gut reactions at the Full Moon as they are your true responses being expressed.

New Moon

On January 21st, the New Moon is at 1° Aquarius. This is the day after the Sun illuminates Aquarius with its presence.

New Moon Wishes

New Moons are always a time for setting personal intentions and making New Moon Wishes. Discover more about the New Moon here.

January Stations

Three planets change direction and all three planets end their retrograde cycle and begin to move forward.

Mars

On January 12th, Mars stations direct in Gemini. Mars is only retrograde once in every two years, so he will be charging ahead in a forward fashion for many months to come. This is a signal that more energy is now available to tap into for everyone.

Who This Will Affect

If you are a Gemini with a birthday from May 29th to June 2nd, you will receive some direct invigorating heat and action from the Red Planet during the last weeks of January.

Mercury

Mercury goes direct on the 18th at 8° in the Cardinal Earth sign Capricorn the Sea Goat. You can expect discussions to move forward now and deals to be signed, sealed and delivered. Mercury has a lot to say about interviews and if you are in the market for a new job check out this post on Mercury Retrograde and Job Seeking.

Who This Will Affect

This station of Mercury will specifically affect any Capricorns with birthdays on 29th, 30th and 31st of December. Now you can expect some clarity of thought.

Uranus

Uranus has been in Taurus for a few years now and will remain so until 2025. Once more, on January 22nd, Uranus stations direct at 14° Taurus to bring some relief to social issues and abstract problems.

Uranus in Taurus has a lot to say about the global crypto market which is still highly volatile.

Who This Will Affect

The Uranus station in Taurus will specifically affect you if your birthday is on the 4th, 5th, or 6th of May as you may anticipate unexpected changes of direction in your life.

Your Quiet Month – Sun Transits Twelfth House or Less is More

There are a few weeks when the Sun and the inner planets, Mercury and Venus, pass through and transit the twelfth house of your chart. This is a time of the year to slow down, rest and take a pause from life. It is a period of about one month when your energy and drive becomes less prominent (the Sun), your reading, thinking and conversation turns inward (Mercury) and personal relationships, your social life and romance become less active (Venus).

Which Sign to Read

These horoscopes are written for Ascendant signs. If you know your Ascendant sign then read that horoscope.

Otherwise, read your Sun sign, and while you’re at it, think about getting your chart cast so you will know your Ascendant sign for the future.

About Our Horoscopes

These horoscopes consider the changing planetary energies throughout each month. In general, I look at three things, ingresses, lunations and stations.

If there are other important events happening during a month, I may write about them as well, it just depends.

I like to look on the positive side and find something uplifting to say for each sign.

When I prepare my horoscopes, I consider planetary movements, planetary energies and shifts that occur in the natural rhythms.

I also like to pay attention to New Moons and Full Moons when they impact a particular sign significantly.

I do consider planets stationing retrograde or turning direct as these movement shifts do make a difference in the way the planet can express its energy especially if they impact the sign as well.

All my horoscopes are written with love and care.

Note to My Readers

Dear Readers,

I am getting back into writing horoscopes for you again. I have had a break for about 8 months but now I am dipping my toe in the waters again.

This month, January 2023, are my first short horoscopes as I refresh this website to accommodate the next years horoscopes.

There is an enormous lot of tech work that goes on in the background to get the website looking better.

Please bear witrh me as I navigate the new approach to monthly horoscope work.

The horoscopes themselves are all written by me and will develop further as I get back into the swing and manage the tech side of things with more ease.

I plan for the horoscopes to be posted as the Sun changes sign in the previous month so around the 21st of every month.

Thanks for your understanding.

Regards,

Alison

Astrological Overview

Time Zone

These horoscopes are set for Universal Time Zone (UT) which is the old Greenwich Mean Time. (GMT).

If you live in the eastern hemisphere, like some of Europe, Asia, Australia and most of Africa, these dates may occur the day after the ones mentioned.

If you live in the western hemisphere, like the USA, Canada and South America, these dates may occur the day before the ones mentioned.

What to Look For Each Month

As the planets move through the zodiac, they change signs and adjust their direction. Each planet has a couple of particular signs that they really love to be in and with which they resonate well.

These shifts of planetary energy are what we astrologers look at.

Ingresses

These horoscopes consider the planets changing signs or ingressing. Several planets change signs each month and this can vary.

When a planet goes from one sign into the next it may benefit or have its energy reduced. How well a planet is placed in a sign is known as essential dignity.

Lunations

We look at the New Moon and the Full Moon or any Solar or Lunar Eclipses when they occur. Eclipses only happen in a couple of months each year.

Here will be the full list of the 2023 Lunations when I’ve completed it.

Stations

Considerations is given to any planet that stations in a month. A station is when a planet appears to stop and turn direction.

Planets can either station retrograde (begin to move backwards) or station direct (begin to move forwards). It depends on the planet and your own Sun sign whether a station may heavily affect you or not so much.

The Yod – Major Aspect Pattern

A Yod is an astrological planetary configuration also know as a major aspect pattern which is formed when three planets line-up in a particular way.

A yod looks like a triangle. See image.

5 Planetary Complex Tips Chart Reading

5 Planetary Complex Tips Chart Reading

Chart Complexes

There are many techniques which you can use to read a birth chart and one highly popular method is with chart complexes.

A complex contains everything to do with a particular feature in a chart

You can have house complexes, point (Ascendant, Lunar node, Part of Fortune etc.) complexes and planetary complexes.

In this post we’re going to look at planetary complexes.

A Planetary Complex

Each planet in your chart will have its own complex.

There will be the Sun complex, the Moon complex, Jupiter’s complex and even Eris’ complex.

Planetary Complex Components

The five components that go to make a planetary complex are the planet’s:

  • Meaning
  • Sign
  • Aspects
  • Position
  • Influence

Let’s have a look at each planetary complex component in detail.

1 Planet’s Meaning

The planet in question always retains its core meaning.

For example, Mercury will always have the urge to communicate, and Mars will always have the urge to initiate actions.

Pay attention to a planet’s keywords.

2 Planet’s Sign

When considering a planet in a sign you always want to find if there is any essential dignity.

This feature itself is probably the most prominent influence when considering a planets complex.

Rulership

A planet in rulership is resilient.

Planets in rulership can work at their full potential 100% of the time.

Any planet in its own sign has the urge to dominate and express itself in the person’s life.

This is likely to be one of the top planets in the chart.

Exaltation

A planet in exaltation, is robust and walks towards the light.

If there is an exalted planet and there are no planets in rulership, the exalted planet will push itself forward into the person’s life.

Fall

A planet in fall, will benefit from support from other planets to achieve its potential.

Planets in fall can easily be dragged down by challenges from the malefic planets.

Detriment

A planet in detriment will struggle to express itself in this person’s life.

This planet will need a lot of work to see its positive energy.

A debilitated planet is likely to effortlessly turn towards the dark side.

Face

A planet with face, steps forward and wants to help the person.

Term

A planet with term, is usually a nice-to-have and will support any planet struggling to move forward.

3 Planetary Aspects

Challenges or support from other planets are shown by the aspects.

Most planets have aspects to the other planets.

Consider the nature of the aspects themselves and the planet making the aspect.

Hard Aspects

The hard aspects are the opposition, the contra-parallel, the square, the semi-square and the sesquiquadrate.

Hard aspects bring challenges and energy is required to overcome the friction or obstacles expressed by the aspect.

Soft Aspects

The soft aspects are the trine and the sextile.

Soft aspects bring ease and support and boost the planet in the nature of the other planet making the aspect.

Neutral Aspects

The neutral aspects are the conjunction and the parallel.

Impartial aspects may be supportive or non-energetic.

These unbiased aspects add robustness to the planet in question.

Unaspected Planets

A planet is unaspected if it does not receive a Ptolemaic aspect from another planet.

Do not consider aspects from the points when determining unaspectedness.

4 Planetary Position

There are some positions that planet may have in a chart which are more important than other placements.

It’s like being in the right place at the right time.

High in the Chart

When a planet is high and near the top, at the most elevated position or in the Midheaven Gauquelin sector in a chart, it becomes more significant.

A planet in this position supports what you do in the outside world and in the public domain.

East in the Chart

When a planet is placed in the east, at the Ascendant position, either rising or in the Ascendant Gauquelin sector or bothit attains more significance.

A planet in this position supports your personal brand, message and the impression you make on others.

Proximity to the Sun

When a planet has solar proximity by being either cazimi, combust or under-the-beams it may add to, or detract from, the planet’s ability to express itself.

A planet in this position needs further consideration.

5 Planetary Influence

Through the principle of chart division, we can slice the chart up in several ways.

A planet may have influence over several sectors of the chart although some planets have no sway through chart division.

Hemisphere Ruler

There are four hemispheres in each chart, the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern hemispheres.

When a planet is a hemisphere ruler by being on the cusp of the hemisphere, it brings a broad influence over half of the chart.

Either the self (Eastern hemisphere), others (Western hemisphere), the public life (Southern hemisphere) or the private life (Northern hemisphere).

If it is a tenant in the hemisphere that it rules, it increases its authority.

Quadrant Ruler

There are four quadrants in each chart the first, second, third and fourth quadrants.

When a planet is a quadrant ruler by being on the cusp of the quadrant, it has influence over one quarter of the chart.

If the planet is a tenant in the quadrant which it rules, it gains dynamic power.

House Ruler

There are twelve houses in each chart.

When a planet is a house ruler by being on the cusp of the house, it impacts the area of life shown by the house.

If the planet is a tenant in a house which it rules, is intensifies its dominance.

Triple Division Ruler

There are three triple divisions in a chart, the first, second and third triple division.

When a planet is a triple division ruler by being on the cusp of the division, it impacts the Me (first triple division), We (second triple division), or You (third triple division), message shown by the division.

If the planet is a tenant in a triple division which it rules, is intensifies the main keyword of the division (Me, We or You).

Influence Assessment

When analyzing a birth chart, go through and work out every planet complex and determine which are the dominant planets within a chart.

Having attained a full picture of each planet’s complex you can decide just how influential each planet is in the chart.

This may bring up some surprising results.

It is often at this time that you realize that perhaps the Sun and the Moon are not as influential as you thought and maybe Uranus is a dominant planet within a chart.

Transiting and Progressed Planets

The planetary complexes indicate how that planet will fare and express itself for this person when it influences the chart by transit or progression.

Any planet which is weaker in the natal chart, when transiting or progressing the chart by aspect is likely to be weaker as well.

To know a planet’s natal strength can help determine whether as a forecast indicator it will be influential or not for this individual.

This shows up in instances where perhaps in a chart with a weak Saturn complex, and therefore their Saturn Return is not as challenging for that person as it is for the person whose Saturn is the most dominant planet in the chart by complex.

Warmly,

Alison

The Yod – Major Aspect Pattern

The Yod – Major Aspect Pattern

A Yod is an astrological planetary configuration also know as a major aspect pattern which is formed when three planets line-up in a particular way.

A yod looks like a triangle. See image.

This week the three planets in the current yod are Jupiter in Gemini, Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn.

You can also refer to this current pattern as a Jupiter Yod because Jupiter is the focal planet.

The Aspiring Astrologer – 52 Self-paced Astrology Lessons

I’m excited to share with you information about my new book The Aspiring Astrologer – 52 Self-paced Astrology Lessons now available on Amazon.

I’m going to give you a bit of a history of the evolution of this book and how it came about.

I’m also going to be sharing with you who this book is for and whether it would interest you or not.

Video Flipthrough

Watch the video below on YouTube.

Here I go over the main points of this astrology book and I provide a full-page flipthrough of every page in the book so you can see if it is for you.

Who This Book is For

New Astrology Students

This book is suitable for new astrology students.

If you have decided to learn a little astrology, then this is the book to help you get there.

Many people choose to know some astrology, and a few take the next step and discover a wonderful world of insights which astrology can provide.

This book will guide you to focus on key pointers in a birth chart, so you can read a chart quickly and confidently.

New Astrology Teachers

This book is suitable for new astrology teachers.

Use it as a guide to bring structure to your classes.

If you are just starting out as an astrology teacher, use this book as a guide to pace your classes for your astrology students.

Typically each chapter will be a two hour class.

Time and Energy Management

If you have reached a period in your life when time is critical, and you do not have three years to spend learning something new, then this book is for you.

If you are at the start of your astrological journey this is for you.

It is for anyone who wants to get to grips with astrology fast and who does not have time to waste.

You can learn about the importance of staying on the highways and leave the roads less travelled for another day.

You can spend the rest of your life learning more about astrology, but you do not need to know everything right now.

You are at the start of your astrological journey and this book will guide you towards details which are immediately important and the things that can be left for the future.

Self-paced Astrology Lessons

This book combines all the astrology lessons I have taught for the past twenty-five years to my private students.

Each chapter is one lesson.

Typically when I teach the lessons in a classroom they take about two hours to complete.

However some classes are a little longer specifically the Houses lesson and the Synasty lesson.

I usually have a week to a fortnight between classes so my students can digest the information, practice on many charts and do some more research by themselves.

Table of Contents

Evolution of This Book

When I began teaching astrology to three women one Saturday afternoon at my kitchen table, I wrote out a one-page guide for each lesson.

Every person received the one-page class note.

They went away and returned the following week for the next class at which time I provided the second lesson one-page class note.

Over time, I developed each one-page into multiple sheets and included more information.

I increased the page count for each lesson to about ten pages whilst fleshing out every topic into broader paragraphs which became the discussion points in the lesson.

By now I had made sixteen beginner, intermediate and advanced forecasting classes with around ten individual pages each for the forty-eight classes with a total page count of 480.

Then I created a mini eBook for each stage.

Later when I began to teach the Relationship and Vocational astrology courses with six classes each, I wrote more class notes.

Only earlier this year did it occur to me to bring everything together into one book.

This book.

In the past I had toyed with multiple smaller books but decided to amalgamate all the class notes I had created over the years into this one volume.

Through the editing process, I condensed the Houses lessons into one class even though I had taught it over two.

I had forty-seven main classes including six Relationship and six Vocational classes, with around ten pages per class.

This brought the class count to fifty-nine. I wanted to have fifty-two classes which is of course one class for every week in the year.

I compressed the two Relationship and Vocational courses into five classes, three for Relationships (thus the Synastry class has parts 1, 2 and 3 and is the biggest class) and two for Vocational.

Now I had fifty-two classes in total.

Some classes are longer and some are shorter than others.

Page Design

Each page is sourced from my early one-page layouts.

Each page usually has a main heading and several paragraphs, diagrams, tables or charts.

These are all discussion points and can be explored further by the student and certainly developed by the teacher.

I encourage you to source other supporting material around each class.

I have endeavored to keep the style of the page layout similar to the original one-page class notes as that is how you learn the subject and how it is taught.

Where there is space available on some pages, I have added diagrams or illustrations as inspiration.

Most drawings are my own creations however some are free images for public use from Pixabay.

How to Use This Book

This is a working book. You are invited to write in it, make notes and draw diagrams as you learn.

Perhaps you have other keywords you want to bring into your astrological practice and you may add them to these pages.

Color things in, add collage and make it your own.

Aspiring Astrologer Activities

There are Aspiring Astrology Activities after each chapter.

This is your class homework and the activities are about the content you have learnt in the lesson.

These activities are important as they are a guide about what to do for every chart that you ever cast or interpret.

Astrological Defaults

This book teaches western tropical psychological astrology and mainly Placidus house cusps.

Where to Get Your Copy

The Aspiring Astrologer – 52 Self-paced Astrology Lessons book is available at Amazon.

This is quite a huge book with 570 pages and measures 8” by 10” or 20cm by 25cm.

The size makes it heavy.

The actual publication costs at Amazon are quite hefty themselves and of course you will have to add on the shipping to your area.

This makes the cost of the book slightly more than most astrology books but it’s due to the sheer volume of information you receive.

To get your copy from Amazon click here.

Typos and Errors

I wrote, designed, formatted and self-published this book myself.

I have had two editors go over it, but as I’ve learned in the past, errors do creep in.

If you find an error or typo, please let me know and I will fix it for the next person.

Warmly,

Alison

Color of the Year

Color of the Year

Pantone – the Color People

Color of the Year

Towards the end of each year, Pantone announces a new color for the forthcoming year.

The publication of the Color of the Year is highly anticipated, mainly by artists, graphic designers, trend setters and the New Age community.

Because this is such a big deal in the world of color, the color which Pantone chooses usually invokes the potential that each New Year heralds.

As someone who loves astro art and color in general I find this interesting.

2023 Viva Magenta

The Pantone color of the year for 2023 is Viva Magenta a rich magenta color.

Colors

Rainbow Colors

The seven colors of the rainbow or spectrum are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

Chakra Colors

The seven chakras are the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown chakras.

The chakras are related to the spectrum colors thus:

Red – root chakra

Orange – sacral chakra

Yellow – solar plexus chakra

Green – heart chakra

Blue – throat chakra

Indigo – third eye chakra

Violet – crown chakra

Crown Chakra

Anyone familiar with chakras will know that the Viva Magenta color is related both the Root (red) and Crown (violet Chakra.

Aquarius

Astrologically the colors are related to the signs.

The 2023 color of the year seems to be associated with the sign of the the Fish, Pisces.

Pisces is associated with many things one of which is that it is a sign of intuition and blending in.

Saturn is shortly going into Pisces to stimulate this color .

Interesting ly Saturn was in Aquarius for the Veri Peri of 2022.

Color Theory and Healing

That color can influence us is well documented and many practitioners will use color to invoke emotional, spiritual and even physical healing.

2023 Potential

I wonder how the choice for this year’s Pantone Color of the Year will unfold during the next 12 months for the world.

Astro Journal Flip Through

Astro Journal Flip Through

Astro Journal

I’m sharing with you my December Astro Journal flip through.

I’ve been journaling for years and I do dabble with all sorts of journals spreads, but this month I got a bit more organized and have got some images to show you of the journal pages I created for December 2021.

Cover Page

Astro Info

This page shows all the important astrological ingresses, lunar phases and planetary retrogrades for the month.

I also draw the zodiac in the natural position with Aries at the Ascendant point.

Sign Colors

You’ll notice that I colour my zodiac signs in specific colours and these are related to the colour wheel.

The fire signs are the primary colours, so Aries is red, Leo is yellow and Sagittarius is blue.

The air signs are the secondary colours so Gemini is orange, Libra is green and Aquarius is violet.

Then the earth and water signs become the tertiary colours, so we have Taurus is tangerine Cancer is apricot, Virgo is chartreuse or lime green, Scorpio is turquoise, Capricorn is purple and Pisces is magenta.

Ingresses

On the outer ring I show how all the planets move during December.

Many planets stay in the same sign, some planets change signs and one planet is stations retrograde.

Main Lunar Phases

I also indicate the four main Lunar phases of New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon and Last Quarter.

Yule

Wheel of the Year

My Yule page is an acknowledgement of the wheel of the year as the Sun enters Capricorn on December 21 we are at the solstice.

I have the symbol for Yule in the top left and on the top right has an oakleaf to symbolize the movement from the Holly King to the Oak King which happens on Yule.

Yule and the solstice is the actual beginning of the wheel of the year.

Yule Log

It’s the dead of winter. In my drawing that I have a yule log burning in the fire. The idea is that you get one long big tree which is your you’ll log and you stick the fat and into the fireplace and you liked it on December 21 and as it slowly burns you push the tree into the great and I delete should be in for at least 12 days.

Dark to Light

Yule is a time where we are symbolizing the shift from the dark and we start to slowly move into the light.

This time of the year is symbolized by candles the fire and brightness.

Saturnalia

December 21st is the shortest day of the year it is also known as the Roman festival of Saturnalia.

Saturn rules Capricorn so it all fits in quite neatly.

Month Calendar Full Page Spread

The monthly full spread is where I will put all my student classes and events.

It also works as a content calendar for my videos and blogs.

I have colored in every planetary movement and the Moon’s phases.

Zodiac Sign Notebooks

Zodiac Sign Notebooks

Zodiac Sign Notebooks

I am excited to share with your my latest venture in creating Zodiac Sign Notebooks. I loved designing these colorful notebooks.

Each one has what I call “light astrology” (so nothing highly technical and tricky as astrology can often get), which will appeal to the person in the street.

Perfect for all who have a Sun Sign, oh right, that’s everyone in your life.

These handy ruled notebooks are specially written and designed by myself.

They are themed and tailored to the individual zodiac sign.

Benefits

Each Zodiac Sign Notebook focusses on one sign.

There are twelve individual Zodiac Sign Notebooks in the whole collection.

Choose the book for your sign and the signs of your loved ones.

When you reach for your Zodiac Sign Notebook, you are automatically learning more about your sign.

Newbies can trace the glyphs for their sign which are printed on every page.

Aspiring astrologers will appreciate the snippets, at the bottom of every right-hand page, which contain interesting information about the specific sign.

Star Giving

If you are the star astrologer in your group (that’s the only person who knows the difference between a bull and a fish), consider your family, friends, and the people whom you love and stimulate their interest in astrology with the gift of a Zodiac Sign Notebook.

They will love you for it.

The goodness is in the giving. You will benefit as others begin to understand why you love astrology as well.

People can get a glimpse into your world and the astrology that you love.

Features

  • The sign glyph is on every page.
  • Ruled pages.
  • Every other page has an interesting snippet especially about the sign.
  • The books have the sign’s affinities like the planetary ruler, precious metal and minerals, angel, trees, plants, herbs, compatibilities with the other signs and more.
  • Suitable for anyone with a Sun sign.
  • These medium sized (6″ x 9″) softcover notebooks contain 120 pages and are perfect for everyday use.
  • Available from Amazon.

New Moon Wishing – A self-care guidebook for wishful thinkers

The New Moon Wishing self-care guidebook for wishful thinkers by Pearl Pendragon contains pages that you fill in with your New Moon wishes each month.

There are “New Moon in zodiac sign” prompts to help you align your wished with the current New Moon position.

Additionally, there are “New Moon in house” prompts so you can focus your wishes on the dynamic energy in your own unique birth chart.

This guidebook has enough pages for five years of New Moon Wishing which means you can create a record of the wishes you made and reflect on how things turned out.

The self-care aspect of New Moon Wishing surrounds writing your wishes and intentions to bring them forth through the act of hand penmanship which embeds your wish deeper into your consciousness.

You are encouraged to color in, embellish and add related ephemera to each month’s pages to create a beautiful record for yourself.

This is an ideal gift for the new-age and enlightened people in your life who enjoy creating with journals and notebooks.

Yule

Yule

Discover a little about Yule and how the Suns’s position in Capricorn triggers this special quarter day in the year.

Lammas

Lammas

Lammas Dates

Lammas is typically celebrated on August 1st each year.

However, it is more correct to say that Lammas is when the Sun reaches 15º of the fixed sign of Leo the lion.

In 2021, the Sun will be at this position in the zodiac on Sunday, August 8th.

To be honest, it does not really matter that you celebrate Lammas at the exact time, but that you celebrate at all.

Close Enough

Often in the civil calendar, if a public holiday falls mid-week we celebrate it on the Sunday that follows or the Sunday beforehand.

An example of this is Remembrance Sunday which technically occurs on November 11th every year, but which is always taken as the closest Sunday to that date.

Lammas: Astrology Journal Page

I’ve drawn a page for Lammas in my astrology journal.

It is a sheaf of wheat that symbolizes the early harvest of the first sweet ears of cereal in August that is used to bake the Lammas Loaf of bread.

I’m trying to focus on one symbol for each festival in the Wheel of the Year.

Lammas Celebration

Lammas celebrates the baking of the first loaf of bread with the current year’s wheat.

It signifies bounty and good food and prosperity to come.

But let’s face it, in the modern world if you live in a city like I do you just go down to the corner store and pick up some bread that’s already baked.

Personally, I’m not in the habit of making my own bread, but when I do, it is at Lammas that I bake.

Lammas Loaf Recipe

My daughter has recently started baking bread and I’m going to share the recipe she uses with you here.

This simple method uses three ingredients bread flour, yeast and salt.

You may have a family recipe and that would be an ideal one to use for your Lammas first loaf.

Lammas Bread Baking

In the week running up to Lammas, my daughter baked several loaves which our whole family enjoyed.

She brought a Lammas loaf over to my home by travelling on the train, as the trip is quite far, but I truly appreciated her gesture.

When to Eat Your Lammas Loaf

Your Lammas loaf is best consumed when still warm.

I like it slathered with butter or, for a special treat, honey.

It is the type of food you can keep snacking on long into the evening.

Next Day Bread

The next day bread can be a litlle harder as it has lost its initial softness and springability.

I choose to cut next day bread into thinner slices and toast them.

Always try to get your Lammas toast “golden” and not charred.

Enjoy your slices with tea or coffee as a great mid-morning snack.

Starzclass

Aspiring Astrology Activity: Lammas

In your astrology journal, book of shadows or grimoire please do the following:

  • Draw a page for Lammas and include a symbol of wheat or the first loaf.
  • If you have a family recipe for bread then include it as well.

Wheel of the Year

Wheel of the Year

The Wheel of the Year

Diagram

The wheel of the year is a diagram that shows the Sun’s movement through the twelve signs of the tropical zodiac from Aries to Pisces.

You can draw a wheel of the year in many ways, but they still represent the passing of time throughout a twelve-month period.

Flow

Typically, the diagram flows clockwise like time on a clock face, but astrologers flow them counterclockwise to align with the zodiac from which the dates originally come and the rising of the Sun at the Ascendant.

The special eight celebration days have been used for centuries in many cultures around the world.

If you draw your own wheel of the year, you can color it and add the symbols that resonate with you.

In the modern world, there is no right or wrong way to tap into this ancient calendar.

Follow your instincts and create a wheel of the year diagram that speaks to you.

Astrology Journal

As an astrologer you would typically draw the wheel of the year in your astrology journal.

If you are more of a pagan, you can create your wheel of the year in your book of shadows or grimoire.

The Sun’s Path

We have watched the Sun mark time as it rises and sets every day.

At a broad stroke, the Sun’s rising position on the horizon moves slightly each day.

The daylight hours are longer in summer and shorter in winter.

Every year the Sun transits through the 360º of the tropical zodiac, and in its passing, marks special days in the year.

Cardinal Points and the Four Seasons

The Sun’s path crosses the four cardinal points each year which mark the beginning of the four seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Please note that these dates are for the northern hemisphere.

Quarter Days

The four quarter days divide the year up into four quarters.

They are the dates of the two equinoxes and two solstices.

  • March 21st – equinox
  • June 21st – solstice
  • September 21st – equinox
  • December 21st – solstice

Cross-Quarter Days

The cross-quarter days divide each of the four quarters of the year.

The cross quarter days are midway between the equinoxes and the solstices.

These dates are around the 8th of the inbetween months and each year is slightly different.

The definition of a cross-quarter day is when the Sun reaches fifteen degrees of the fixed signs.

  • February 8th
  • May 8th
  • August 8th
  • October 8th

Spring Equinox – Ostara

Around March 21st, the Sun crosses the celestial equator at 0º Aries, moving north for three months.

It is the Aries ingress and this is springtime.

The pagan celebration of Ostara is aligned with the equinox when the day and night is the same.

Beltane

The pagan festivity of Beltane is the day the Sun reaches 15 º of Taurus.

This is often celebrated on May 1st each year.

Midsummer Solstice – Litha

Around June 21st, the Sun reaches its highest declination at around 23.5º north at 0º Cancer.

Now the Sun moves back towards the celestial equator for three months.

The Cancer ingress heralds summer.

The pagan celebration of Litha is on the midsummer’s day which is the longest day of the year and the day with the most sunlight.

Lammas

As the Sun reaches 15 Leo, which is typically on August 8th, it is the cross-quarter day of Lammas.

However, the pagan celebration of Lammas is usually celebrated on August 1st.

Autumn Equinox – Mabon

Around September 21st, the Sun crosses the celestial equator moving south at 0º Libra and continues for three months during autumn or fall.

The Libra ingress happens at the autumn equinox and the start of the new season.

The pagan celebration of Mabon is usually celebrated on October 1st which is a date close to the equinox.

Samhain – Halloween

The pagan celebration of Samhain is when the Sun passes over 15º of Scorpio, which is around November 8th.

In general, this special day is usually celebrated on October 31st as Halloween.

All Saint’s Day follows of November 1st.

Midwinter Solstice – Yule

Around December 21st, the Sun’s declination reaches around 23.5º south as it enters 0º Capricorn.

Now the Sun moves back up towards the celestial equator which takes three months and it is wintertime.

As the Sun enters Capricorn it is known as the Capricorn ingress when the winter season begins.

The pagan celebration of Yuletide is celebrated on midwinter’s day.

Imbolc

Imbolc occurs when the Sun reaches 15 degrees of Aquarius which is usually around February 8th, although Imbolc is celebrated around February 1st each year.

One symbol for Imbolc is Brighid’s cross made from wheat sheaves or corn dollies.

Conclusion

As an aspiring astrologer, it is valuable to understand when the dates for the cardinal signs and the cross-quarter days happen as they shift a little each year.

These special days are not just plucked out of thin air.

Often at the start of a new season, the news channels will state that, “Spring is starting on March 21st at 4:37pm” and this statement may seem weird.

Now that you know how each season is timed (by the Sun’s ingress into a cardinal sign), you can fully understand the seasonal changes and the cross-quarter days that occur at around six-week intervals.

If you are just starting out, pay attention to the equinoxes and solstices first.

Then explore the cross-quarter days afterwards.

The whole year begins at the vernal equinox when the Sun enters Aries around March 21st every year.

Aspiring Astrologer Activity: Wheel of the Year

In your astrology journal and with a compass and protractor, please do the following:

  • Draw the diagram for the wheel of the year with four concentric circles.
  • Divide the outer wheel into the four seasons.
  • Divide the second wheel in, into the months of the year.
  • Divide the third wheel in, into the twelve signs of the zodiac starting with Aries in the ascendant position.
  • Divide the center wheel into the eight celebrations of the wheel of the year.

Extend Yourself

  • Color in your wheel of the year and decorate it as you see fit. Use your intuition as a guide.
  • For the next celebration that is coming up, give some thought and list what you want to manifest for your life during that period.
