This month sees three planets the Sun, Mercury and Venus (twice) changing signs.

Direction

Mercury and Jupiter both planets station direct and begin to move forwards again.

Eclipses

There is a lunar eclipse and a New Moonwhich are a fortnight apart from each other.

Solar Cycle

The Sun continues to reduce in declination as it moves northwards from the solstice turning point back in December towards the equator and the Equinox.

2nd Mars enters Pisces

As Mars enters Pisces is loses some of its fiery nature. Direct your energy inwards and towards the core of you. Be sensitive to others around you. If you need to rant and rave, do it somewhere where no one can see. Your actions will affect bystanders just as much. Make sure you are emitting positive energy into the world. Karmic themes are all around now.

Mars is masculine. Mars competes, challenges and acts. Mars represents young men, boyfriends, bad boys, pioneers, firemen and soldiers. Mars rules Aries and Scorpio.

3rd Lunar Eclipse in Virgo

This month’s Lunar Eclipse at 12°54′ Virgo highlights your need for practical awareness. It brings mindfulness to daily routines, health and the practical details of life which need refining. Emotions may run high as you see clearly what no longer serves you. This is a time to simplify, heal and restore your inner clarity.

6th Venus enters Aries

Love and money affairs become somewhat subdued, as Venus is not well placed here, although a little rash. As Venusenters Aries it is the time to hold onto your investing and wait for next month when economic activities will improve in general. Romantically, you could be attracted to more dangerous types as the temptation for hot and lusty fling is genuine.

Venus is feminine. Venus loves, acquires and appreciates. Venus represents young women, girlfriends, sweethearts and accountants. Venus rules Taurus and Libra.

11th Jupiter stations Direct

As Jupiter stations direct at 15° Cancer, a renewed sense of optimism is likely to sweep over you, helping you dispel the shadows of dark days. Your innate optimism will resurface, empowering you to envision the life you desire. While you may not take immediate action this month, this period is perfect for planning, which is a crucial first step towards turning your dreams into reality. Jupiter in Cancer lets you embrace this positive time and let it guide you as you establish a brighter future for you and your family.

19th New Moon in Pisces

This month, New Moon is in sensitive Pisces at 28°27′. This indicates it is time to begin an activity where you sacrifice something else in your life. Consider starting a meditation regime or a daily yoga practice now.

20th The Sun Enters Aries

This day is the beginning of the astrological year. As the Sun enters Aries, it heralds the start of Spring in the northern hemisphere and the start of Autumn in the southern hemisphere. Potential is high and your life-force is robust now. Initiate independent activity to best serve yourself. Choose to get out and about in the sunshine daily.

20th Equinox (Ostara)

Spring begins at Ostara when the Sun enters Aries, marking the vernal equinox around March 20th this year. Day and night stand in almost perfect balance to symbolize harmony between light and dark. From this point of the year onwards, daylight grows stronger and life begins to awaken.

Ostara celebrates renewal, fertility and the promise of growth. It is a time to plant seeds, both literal and symbolic and to set your intentions for the months ahead.

Many traditions honor this turning of the Wheel of the Year festival with flowers, eggs and symbols of new life. Ostara invites you to embrace change, welcome vitality and open your heart to the fresh beginnings of spring.

20th Mercury Stations Direct

Mercury will station direct on March 20th at 8° Pisces, which is a positive development. If your birthday falls on February 26th, 27th or 28th, this station will hold special significance for you. You may receive valuable information or have encounters with new people who can provide useful insights.

For everyone else, this change in Mercury’s direction will bring relief to stalled decisions and unresolved contracts which have been causing delays. Clarity of thought will improve, making it easier to find solutions to creative challenges compared to the recent past.

Now is a favorable time to make decisions, but it’s important to be honest about your motives. In general, this period is marked by positivity and creative ideas will flow freely. While they might not be immediately put into action, the concepts can be explored and strengthened.

28th Saturn Sextile Pluto

When Saturn in Aries forms a sextile to Pluto in Aquarius, powerful opportunities emerge for focused progress and innovative transformation. Saturn’s discipline blends with Pluto’s depth, turning bold ideas into lasting results. This aspect supports courageous leadership, strategic change and steady reform. It’s about building your future with determination and purpose, but take care to notice or you may easily miss this one.

Saturn limits, times and masters. Saturn represent your father, older men and managers. Saturn rules the two signs of Capricorn and Aquarius.

30th Venus enters Taurus

Loving Venus goes home to Taurus this month. Now is the moment to establish your financial future. Budgets and spending plans will be of benefit for you now. This is a suitable time to evaluate your life and the people with whom you invest your time and energy. Make space to enjoy meaningful moments with your special loved ones in this period.

March 2025 Background Energy

Broad Strokes

I always like to get a feel for the month by looking the background energy.

This is typically shown through all the planetary positions by their sign components of polarity, element and modeemphasis.

As each month develops, planets move and create the background energy modifications that I’m talking about here.

Energy Count

For my background energy count I only consider ten planets which are the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron.

No Moon

In my broad stroke analysis I ignore the Moon because it move through every sign during the course of one month so it makes no sense.

This is not an exact science, but what in astrology is?

1st March 2026

Polarity

March begins with the polarities still balanced with five planets in active and five in passive.

Element

The elemental emphasis at the start of the month is strongly Water with four planets in Air.

Mode

The modal energy leans towards Cardinal with four planets in Cardinal signs at the start of the month.

Overall

This results in an emphasis on Cardinal Water which equates to the sign of Cancer. Which is not the Sun sign.

1st April 2026

Polarity

By April 1st the polarities are still balanced with five planets in active and five in passive.

Element

The elemental emphasis by the end of the month is strongly Fire with four planets now in Fire. Also note that Water is a close second with three planets.

Mode

The mode shift is towards Cardinal with five planets in the Cardinal signs by the end of the month.

Overall

This results in an emphasis on Cardinal Fire which equates to the sign of Aries.

Which is great as sometimes, as you well know, the emphasis when broken down does not relate to the main sign, but once more by the end of March it does. Woo Hoo.
