Money

Astrology seems to have answers for just about everything, and money is no exception. One of the questions I hear most often from clients (apart from love) is about their finances. It’s such a hot topic, and over the years I’ve seen how differently it can show up in people’s charts. Everyone has their own unique money story.

Indicators

In this piece, I’m going to focus on the two main financial planets. When I look at these in a chart, alongside other money indicators, I often see patterns that really resonate with clients and help them understand their relationship with money in a whole new way.

Financial Planets

The two main financial planets are Venus and Pluto.

Money in

Venus is the natural ruler of the second house which is the traditional house for money. This house is also associated with TaurusVenus rules Taurus.

Money Out

Pluto is the second important financial planet. Pluto rules your commitments, outgoings or debts through the eighth house which in the natural wheel is associated with ScorpioPluto rules Scorpio.

Venus

Venus What to look For

The main things to look for with Venus and money are:

  • Venus’ direction (direct or retrograde).
  • Venus’ essential dignity through her sign and degree.
  • Venus’ house is Venus in a financial house (2nd, 8th, 5th or 11th?
  • Venus’ aspects to the other planets.
  • Venus’ aspect to Pluto, or not.
  • Venus’ position in the chart.

Pluto

The main things to look for with Pluto and money are:

  • Pluto’s direction (direct or retrograde).
  • Pluto’s essential dignity through her sign and degree.
  • Pluto’s house is Pluto in a financial house (2nd, 8th, 5th or 11th?).
  • Pluto’s aspects to the other planets.
  • Pluto’s aspect to Venus, or not.
  • Pluto’s position in the chart.

Venus Pluto Aspects

If the two financial planets, Venus and Pluto, have an aspect between them it bodes well for your finances. They will work together through the aspect.

Applying or Separating Aspects

In general, Ptolemaic aspect have an orb of 8° and 4° for a sextile. Venus as the faster if the two planets, will either be applying or separating from an aspect with Pluto.

Applying

The situation has as yet to come to a head. Wait

Separating

When Venus is separating from an aspect to Pluto the situation has passed. It could be that the moment has gone.

Disassociate Aspects

Always consider if Venus and Pluto, when in an aspect with each other, are disassociate as this weakens the bond. This used to be called out of sign aspects.

Example

If Venus is at 28° Libra and Pluto is at 2° Scorpio they are in a disassociate conjunction.

Transits of the Financial Planets

It’s always interesting to look at what is coming up with the transits.

Transiting Venus

Natal chart

When Venus transits your second house you are more likely to get a monetary boost. When Venus conjoins the ruler of your second house you are likely to get financial benefits in some way.

Global Money Flow

When Venus is direct, money flows positively. When Venus is retrograde, money can be stalled and interest rates will likely hold or fall.

Transiting Pluto

Natal charts

When Pluto transits your eighth house you will have to attend to your debts. This is the time to transfer your commitments and pay down what you owe.

Global Debts

When Pluto is direct lending scan be a regular part of life. When Pluto is retrograde avoid taking on extra credit and loans. Watch out as interest rates will probably rise and kill you. Avoid signing mortgage contracts when Pluto is retrograde.

Overarch

Financial Planets

Venus and Pluto are often considered the key financial planets in astrology. Together, they can reveal valuable insights about your overall relationship with money, resources and security as shown by your chart.

Venus reflects how you attract wealth, what you value and your natural ability to create abundance.

Pluto brings depth and transformation, showing where financial power struggles, hidden resources or opportunities for regeneration may emerge.

By looking at both of the financial planets in your chart, you can gain a clearer picture of your monetary patterns, strengths and the deeper lessons tied to your ultimate prosperity.

Is Saturn the Real Karma Chameleon or Your Next Cosmic Life Coach?

You know that feeling when life suddenly gets really serious? When the universe seems to be asking you to grow up, take responsibility, and face the stuff you’ve been avoiding? That’s Saturn doing what it does best.

Saturn has earned its nickname as the “Planet of Karma” and honestly, it’s spot on. While other planets zip through your astrological chart like they’re late for a meeting, Saturn takes its sweet time, about 2.5 years in each zodiac sign. This isn’t just cosmic window shopping. Saturn means business, which may be stressful, but is helping you become the person you’re meant to be.

Saturn: The Universe’s Most Patient (But Persistent) Teacher

So, what does Saturn represent in astrology?

Well, here’s the thing about Saturn: it’s not out to randomly mess with your life.

It’s actually more like that teacher who actually cared enough to push you, even when you didn’t want to be pushed. This planet seeks to activate the consequences of your past choices, but not in a vindictive way…more like a cosmic mirror reflecting back what you’ve put out there.

Been cutting corners at work? Saturn’s transit might bring professional challenges that force you to step up. Avoiding those tough conversations in your relationship? Don’t be surprised when those issues come back with compound interest. It’s not punishment, it’s accountability.

The beautiful thing about Saturn is that its lessons unfold slowly. Unlike instant karma that hits you like a lightning bolt, Saturn gives you time to really understand what’s happening and why.

It’s karma with a learning curve.

The Five Stages Every Saturn Transit Takes You Through

If you’ve ever been through a major Saturn transit, you’ll recognize this pattern. It’s like emotional boot camp, but with a purpose:

First: The “Wake-Up Call”

Saturn makes you painfully aware of something you’ve been ignoring. Maybe it’s that relationship that’s been slowly poisoning your happiness, or the career dream you keep putting off, or that old wound you refuse to heal. Suddenly, you can’t unsee it.

Second: The “Fight”

Well, it’s where things get interesting (and by interesting, I mean dramatic). You resist the

change and try to make the old way work just one more time. You might even convince yourself everything’s totally fine. Spoiler alert: it’s not, and deep down you know it.

Third: The “Breakdown”

To move forward, Saturn forces you to surrender, and something in your life collapses. It might be your ego, your carefully laid plans, or a cherished illusion about how things “should” be. This phase feels awful, but it’s absolutely necessary. You can’t build something new on a shaky foundation.

Fourth: The “Rebuild”

This is when the real work begins. You start rebuilding, but this time with humility and wisdom.

Saturn loves this stage because you’re finally doing what needs to be done, not what you want to do.

Fifth: The “Payoff”

Bearing fruit, this usually arrives by the time the transit ends. You emerge stronger, wiser, and more grounded. The struggle was worth it, and you can see that clearly now. You’ve leveled up in the most authentic way possible.

How to Work With Saturn Instead of Against It

The secret to thriving during Saturn transits isn’t to fight them, it’s to collaborate. Here’s how to make Saturn your ally:

Embrace the Marathon Mindset

Saturn rewards consistency over quick fixes.

That side project you keep thinking about? Start it now, but commit to the long game. Saturn doesn’t hand out instant rewards, but the results you build during its transit are worth the wait.

Think of it like planting an oak tree, you won’t see the full majesty immediately, but with patience and care, you create something beautiful and lasting.

Own Your Part in the Story

Saturn’s favorite question is: “What’s your part in this?”

During its transits, you’ll face areas where you’ve been avoiding responsibility. Instead of playing the victim, get curious about where you might have cut corners or ignored your duties.

This isn’t about shame, it’s about honest self-reflection that leads to real growth.

Build Structure That Actually Serves You

Saturn loves discipline, but not the punishing kind. So, you don’t have to equate it to some sort of karmic debt.

It prefers the liberating kind, the structure that actually makes your life easier and more meaningful. Use this transit to build sustainable routines and set boundaries that support your long-term goals. Think of it as cosmic Marie Kondo-ing your life.

Practice Patience as a Spiritual Practice

Saturn’s timing is rarely your timing, and that’s entirely the point, but not in a dangerous way.

This transit teaches you that real growth happens in the waiting. When things move slowly, it’s not because the universe is working against you, it’s because you’re being prepared for something bigger than what you originally imagined.

The Hidden Gift in Saturn’s Challenges

Here’s what most people miss about Saturn transits: they’re not punishment, they’re purification.

Saturn strips away what doesn’t serve you, even when you’re emotionally attached to it. That soul-draining job? The toxic relationship? The habits that keep you small? Saturn creates circumstances that make change not just possible, but inevitable.

Saturn’s ultimate goal isn’t to make you suffer, it’s to guide you toward your highest potential. It’s like having a personal trainer for your soul. The workouts are tough, but the transformation is real.

Your Saturn Survival Kit

When Saturn’s lessons feel overwhelming, remember these truths:

Every challenge contains a gift. Saturn never gives you more than you can handle, only more than you think you can handle. This is crucial to remember when everything feels impossible.

Shortcuts don’t work with this planet, nor do numbers like 777. Saturn sees through surface-level changes and demands authentic transformation. You can’t fake your way through a Saturn transit. The work has to be real and deep.

The struggle is temporary, but the wisdom lasts forever. Saturn transits end, but the lessons become part of who you are. You carry that strength and understanding with you for the rest of your life.

You’re stronger than you know. Saturn only tests you because it believes in your capacity to grow. It wouldn’t present you with challenges if it didn’t know you could handle them.

The Real Payoff

People who learn to work with Saturn’s energy rather than against it often describe their transit experiences as life-changing in the best possible way. Yes, the process can be intense, but it’s also deeply meaningful. You’re not just surviving random difficulties, you’re actively participating in your soul’s evolution.

Saturn doesn’t ask you to be perfect. It asks you to be authentic, responsible, and committed to growth. When you meet its challenges with maturity and dedication, this cosmic teacher becomes your greatest ally. You end up creating a life of genuine substance and lasting fulfillment.

Remember: Saturn’s transits feel like karma because they are karma. But not as punishment, as a sacred opportunity to become who you’re truly meant to be. The universe isn’t working against you during these times. It’s working with you to help you reach your highest potential.

And honestly? That’s the most beautiful kind of tough love there is.

Uranus in the Houses

I’d like to share with you some of my thoughts on Uranus in the houses and additionally as it relates to astrologers and astrology.

Astrologer’s Charts

Uranus is the modern ruler of astrology and just to be clear Mercury is the traditional ruler of astrology. In its role of presiding over astrology, Uranus can be significant in astrologer’s charts. If you are a hobbyist, amateur, student, professional or master astrologer already, the placement of Uranus in your chart can show the type of astrology you are likely to be. These greater details are likely to come through your full Uranus complex, which considers the sign, house, aspects, position and direction. So assessing Uranus for its themes around astrologers and astrology, it makes more sense to look at the planet in this way in your chart, as an astrology enthusiast reading this, rather than looking in your client’s birth charts unless they too are astrologers.

Basic Natal Astrology

This time I just like to share some of my thoughts with you about Uranus through the houses. The twelve houses are part of basic natal astrology and are considered first year astrology learning along with signs, planets and aspects. Let’s have a closer look at Uranus in each of the twelve astrological houses.

    Mars in Gemini

    Mars in Gemini

    Author: Arwynne O’Neill  –   Published: July 2024

    Mars in Gemini

Today I’m going to be talking about Mars in Gemini. If you’re listening to this in summer of 2024, Mars is about to enter Gemini on July 20 and will stay there until September 4. Mars moves pretty quickly so it takes about two years to go all the way around the zodiac. Due to retrograde periods, it can spend as little as six weeks in a sign to as many as seven months! Last time Mars was in Gemini was from August 20, 2022 through March 25, 2023, but this is an unusually long time for Mars to stay in one sign. It retrograded in October 2022 but it stayed in Gemini the entire time, so that’s how it can sometimes be in one sign for a very long time.

    Podcast Episode

Listen to the full podcast episode below.

    Mars in Gemini by transit

When Mars transits through the airy, mutable, masculine (or positive) sign of Gemini, it is considerably less focused than in some other signs. As we might expect with any placement in Gemini, there’s an intellectual, chatty, indecisive and scattered energy. In the northern hemisphere, this might be perfect timing because we are going through the middle of summer and who wants to make fixed decisions and doggedly pursue ambitions when warm weather, beach vacations and weekend barbecues beckon?

That being said, Gemini is not a bad placement for Mars and although we may at times feel restless and indecisive, with our attentions pulled in many different directions, we’re just as likely to also feel alive with sparkling, effervescent and positive energy. We might feel like chatting up new and old friends, dancing late into the night, hosting a game night with or sing along, enjoy summer fun like fireworks, festivals and street fairs. Even solitary activities like getting engrossed in an exciting book, binging a new TV show or podcast, could be excellent uses of Mars in Gemini energy.

As Robert Hand says in his seminal book, Planets in Transit, Mars is a planet of energy and it specifically rules the energy that an individual uses to maintain themselves in the face of pressures from their environment. Mars is also connected with work and physical effort and its transits often signify days when you become very energetic and vigorous. So, as Mars transits through different signs you want to look at where you have significant placements in those signs in your chart. If you have the sun in Gemini or Gemini rising or, of course, if you have Mars in Gemini, this transit will energize your chart in a significant way.

You also want to look at what house Mars will be transiting for you while it goes through Gemini. If you have Gemini rising, Mars will be transiting your first house and it will light up your personality your self-expression your identity, your self-esteem, and it could give you a great boost of self-confidence or indicate a time when you are presenting yourself to the world and this could be a great time for you because you’ll find it easier to express yourself in your naturally effervescent Gemini fashion with Mars lighting up your first house. It could be a great time to meet new people or make a great impression on people who already know you, champion a cause that’s close to your heart or undertake a self makeover to present yourself or your ideas in an exciting new way.

You also want to look at any aspects that Mars will be making to planets in your chart. If you have any major placements in Sagittarius, Mars will be transiting opposite those planets while it’s in Gemini, so this could bring conflicts with people, opposition to your ideas, impediments and obstacles that suddenly come up, hindering your movements and thwarting your ambitions or aims.

Any major placements you have in mutable signs will be affected by Mars transiting through Gemini as it will make hard aspects to all the mutable planets, including Virgo and Pisces which will receive squares from Mars in Gemini.

Mars in Gemini in the birth chart

As with any air sign, Mars in Gemini tends to have more mental energy and social activity associated with its martial tendencies. These people might be more the type to spar with you verbally then physically. They could be intellectually inexhaustible, pursuing higher education or gobbling up trivia like information junkies, memorizing movie quotes or song lyrics or sports statistics in order to repeat them at the ready anytime conversation turns to their topic of choice, or supplementing any pub trivia team with their sparkling, broad-based intellect.

These people love to exchange ideas and they’re motivated by communication, social and intellectual stimuli. They may be the type to go off on a political rant or some obscure tangent at the drop of a hat, or drone on about whatever personal topic fires their interest long past the point of exhausting others in the room. Used correctly, they could be excellent, engaging teachers or professors, journalists, radio hosts or podcasters, influencers, marketers or sales people.

Since Mars is one of the relationship planets, along with venus, we would look to Mars to find out what a person is like in relationships. Mars is the planet of desire and going after your object of affection, so people with Mars in Gemini will be the type who want to charm you with their wit, intellect, conversational moves and lofty ideas. Of course keeping their interest will be the real challenge. Mars in Gemini is not known for its ability to focus on one thing or one person for very long.

In Person to Person Astrology, Steven Arroyo says, “the essence of Mars in Gemini is that it asserts itself verbally, flexibly, cleverly, communicatively, through a variety of skills. The focus of one’s desire changes very quickly and often, easily diverted. Expresses a wide ranging friendliness, very good at making connections. Physical energy and sexual drive are affected by mentally stimulating conversations, images or curious new ideas, very open-minded.”

They may appear or behave especially youthful and embody a sort of ageless vitality and charm, flirting or putting on the charm for people of all ages and genders indiscriminately. This may be the guy who you dated just long enough to bring home to meet your parents one time and years later they still ask, “whatever happened to..?” He made an indelible impression and then flitted on to the next flower before you had a chance to make a real connection.

This is not to say they can’t commit. The wonderful thing about Mars in Gemini is that these people are genuinely interested in the thoughts and ideas of other people; they’re open-minded, curious and communicate well with their partners. If you make a lasting love connection with them, they could turn out to be a wonderfully stimulating and exciting partner for life, keeping you laughing well into old age, exploring new ideas and interests together long after other couples have settled into mutal silence.

Grant Lewi says, if you have Mars in Gemini, “you are rarely bored or boring, but you can wear yourself and others out by the ferocity of your attack on life. You are extraordinarily aware of the world around you, sense perceptions are acute, swift, probably accurate, and you are valuable in expressing what you take in. Energy flows naturally to the tongue; you are a better talker than listener. With any concentrated force, this position gains value, Without it, you scatter your energies.” He also cautions the Mars in Gemini individual to take care of their body as well as their mind. There is a danger of neglecting your physical well-being because you are so focused on mental pursuits.

    Inspiring Others

I hope that the work I’m doing here will inspire other people to take what astrology they know and run with it. I believe that your mind can explore your current astrology skills and take you down some exciting roads. We don’t know where you will end up, but at least you will have taken the first step. Many people who learn astrology don’t turn into consulting astrologer, but they use the knowledge to enhance other parts of their lives or related businesses. People like coaches, artists, numerologists and healers from all walks of life can improve their insights with some understanding of astrology. I urge you to look at the craft from all sorts of different angles, and yes, I know there are angles in a birth chart, to find the treasures within the teachings of astrology which resonate with you and your chart and dig deep.

    Exploring Astrology

I believe in exploring astrology by going down all the nooks and crannies and finding ways to present it differently. I did this in 2011 with my extensive research into the Oriental Planet. Where I dug deep into this topic for over two years. Again in 2015 I pushed forward with some original research into the Five Types of Dispositor Tree and the specific positions planets can hold within a Dispositor Tree.

Once again during 2018 with my tentative exploration of the Fibonacci Aspects. Which did not go very far, but still… And once more recently with what I’m calling the “Astrologer’s Holy Trinity” research that I’m doing now. Not all of this research has gone somewhere, but some of it has. You don’t know what will take off until you try.

What do they say, “Sow your seeds in the morning, then keep busy all afternoon, because you never know what will grow.”

    Discover Research

Whatever you think about most in astrology is likely to be a place where you can develop something of value in the future.

I believe that great things can be imagined and brought forward from all modern astrologers.

Just because astrology has been around for so long, thousands of years, does not mean there is nothing left to explore.

In this episode, I’m going to explain my current research into the Astrologer’s Holy Trinity and the highest-level temperature of the chart thus reducing it down to only four values.

    Polarities

We used to refer to the two polarities in different ways than we do today.

    • Black and White
    • Masculine and Feminine
    • Positive and Negative
    • Active and Passive

I’ll be using the terms active and passive signs.

    Balance

The very nature of energy on Earth is in balance. In a way this can be seen by the magnetic North and the South Poles. As I understand it, one pole ejects positive ions and the other pole absorbs them. The poles swap back and forth over time and are somewhat aligned to the eleven-year sunspot cycle.

    Magnets

In a bar magnet the magnetic lines can be seen when you tap iron filings. They come out of one end and go back in the other.

    The Sun

The Earth’s magnetic field has both a positive and a negative pole. This is similar to the Zodiac sign polarities.

    Sign Polarity

    Active Signs

    The active signs are:

    • Aries
    • Gemini
    • Leo
    • Libra
    • Sagittarius
    • Aquarius

    Passive Signs

    The passive signs are:

    • Taurus
    • Cancer
    • Virgo
    • Scorpio
    • Capricorn
    • Pisces

    Trinity Chart Components

There are three main components of a chart.

    • Ascendant
    • Sun
    • Moon

List your main component polarities in this order of importance. First the Ascendant, then the Sun and then the Moon.

    Examples

In this example we have, a Virgo Ascendant, a Cancer Sun and an Aries Moon. This would be listed as (Virgo, Cancer, Aries) or (VI,CA,AR). Which converts to (-, -, +)

    The other options are:

    + + +

    –  + +

    +  + –

    + – +

    – + –

    – – +

    + – –

    – – –

So what? Well, it’s a high-level way to analyze the chart. Through a elevated approach of the core components with just Ascendant, Sun and Moon. And it’s probably the highest. Most will be either +2 and -1 or -2 and +1.

    Let’s do the Maths

    +2 -1 = +1

    -2 +1 = -1

    +3 = +3

    -3 = -3

    Results

There are only 4 options for a score.

    -3, -1, +1 and +3

    Interpretations of Final Four

Let’s start with some obvious keywords.

    Minus Three

    Super passive – Cold – Icy 💙

    Minus One

    Moderately passive – Chilled – Cool 💚

    Plus One

    Moderately active – Warm – Toasty 💛

    Plus Three

    Super active – Hot – Sizzling ❤️

    Ongoing Research

This is as far as I’ve got with the Holy Trinities and the extension of plus one, plus three, minus one and minus three research. Is this going somewhere? I don’t know. Is it useful for astrologers to know these hot numbers? Time will tell. Let me know what you think.
