New Moon in Pisces

Musings

As we cycle through the astrological year, planets change signs, move forwards, move backwards and create different patterns and clusters within the Zodiac. Now frequently they are just plonked about the chart willy nilly, but for the New Moon in February, we have a cluster of planets in Pisces. Today I’m particularly focusing on the New Moon in Pisces on February the 27th and have shown the chart for this set for Vancouver. And you will also notice that this is a bowl chart once more underlining the concentration vibe of this chart where all the planets are in within (less than) an opposition between Pluto and Mars. Although it’s not an opposition per se, it’s less than it’s an even tighter grouping in the bowl.

Pisces in My Life

Family

Personally, I don’t often come across Pisces people as friends, or clients, because their Sun is quincunx to my Sun. So there is always a slightly, dare I say irritating, energy between their Pisces Sun and my Leo Sun. However, my family had different ideas.

In my household, both my mother and my father were Sun Pisces with birthdays on the 18th and 19th of March respectively. Additionally, my one and only sister is also a Pisces, born on February 26th. And one of my three daughters is a Pisces too and her birthday is on March the 5th.

This just makes Pisces one of those signs that I tend to know quite a bit about because I’ve seen these people in action, close up and personal. And let me tell you, a lot of what goes on happens at the shoe shop. I thought it would be thought-provoking this week to discuss this high concentration of five planets, plus one point, in Pisces, which will really only happen for a swift day or two as the Moon transits the sign of the Fish.

A New Beginning

Mystical Waters

The New Moon on February 27, 2025, occurs at 9° Pisces, ushering in a fresh lunar cycle infused with intuition, dreams and emotional depth. While New Moons happen every month, marking a time of renewal and setting New Moon Wishing, this particular lunation is uniquely powerful due to an extraordinary planetary alignment in the sign of Pisces.

A Concentration of Pisces Energy

In astrology, we track the movement of ten celestial bodies, from the Sun to Pluto and sometimes include Chiron, a minor planet associated with healing. During this New Moon, a remarkable five of these planets will be in Pisces, making this a significant cosmic event. Pisces is the final sign of the Zodiac, symbolizing completion, surrender and spiritual awakening. When a cluster of planets gathers in one sign, their combined influence amplifies that sign’s themes. In this case, the watery, mutable and deeply intuitive nature of Pisces is emphasized, creating an atmosphere rich with creativity, mysticism and emotional sensitivity.

The Five Planets in Pisces

Quintet

At the moment of this New Moon, the following planets will be transiting Pisces:

  • The Sun: Illuminating Pisces’ themes of imagination, spirituality and compassion.
  • The Moon: Aligning our emotions with Piscean energies, enhancing intuition and inner reflection.
  • Saturn: Bringing a structured or karmic element to this otherwise fluid and dreamy sign.
  • Mercury: Encouraging intuitive communication and deep inner thinking.
  • Neptune: The ruler of Pisces, heightening dreams, visions and spiritual awareness.

Concentration

This concentration of planetary energy in Pisces makes this an ideal time for creative pursuits, meditation, healing and emotional introspection. However, it can also bring sharp sensitivity, blurred boundaries and potential confusion, so grounding practices will be beneficial.

The North Node and Upcoming Eclipse

Eclipse

Adding another layer of significance, the North Node will be at 27° Pisces, aligning with this lunation in preparation for an upcoming Aries eclipse in March. The North Node represents destiny and soul growth, suggesting that this New Moon may set the stage for important shifts in collective consciousness and personal spiritual development. With such an intense Pisces influence, this period encourages us to trust our intuition, embrace our dreams and flow with the cosmic currents rather than resisting them.

Pisces Tenants

Let’s take a closer look at this concentration of Piscean energy.

The Sun in Pisces

Intuition

When the Sun is in Pisces, people are deeply intuitive, imaginative and compassionate. Pisces is a water sign ruled by Neptune, giving these people a dreamy, artistic and often mystical quality. They have a natural affinity for the spiritual, the unseen and the emotional depths of life.

Empathetic

People with the Sun in Pisces are empathetic and tend to absorb the energy of those around them, this makes them sensitive to their environment. They often have a strong creative streak, excelling in music, poetry, art and storytelling. However, their emotional depth can sometimes make them prone to escapism, as they seek refuge in fantasies, daydreams, ghosting or even unhealthy habits.

Spiritual

At their best, they are healers, visionaries and artists who bring beauty and compassion to the world. Sun in Pisces people’s challenge is to set healthy boundaries and stay grounded while embracing their deep emotional and spiritual nature.

The Moon in Pisces

Sensitivity

The Moon represents emotions, instincts and inner needs and when placed in Pisces, it enhances sensitivity, intuition and emotional depth. People with this placement feel everything on a profound level and may have psychic or intuitive abilities.

Absorbing

Their emotions are fluid, often changing like the tides and they can easily pick up on the moods of others. This makes Moon in Pisces people highly compassionate and nurturing but also they cab be susceptible to emotional overwhelm. Lunar Pisceans may need alone time to recharge, as they can absorb too much from their surroundings.

Meditation

This placement is excellent for artistic expression, as they channel their emotions into music, poetry, painting, or other creative outlets. However, Lunar Fish folk must be mindful of avoiding escapism through substances, fantasy, or emotional withdrawal. Meditation, spiritual practices and grounding techniques are likely to help them maintain emotional balance.

Saturn in Pisces

Reality vs Imagination

Saturn represents structure, discipline and responsibility, when Saturn is in Pisces is a dreamy and fluid sign. This combination brings a lesson in balancing reality with imagination. People with Saturn in Pisces may struggle with self-doubt, fears of the unknown, or feeling disconnected from reality.

The Call to Serve

This placement often leads to a deep sense of responsibility toward spiritual, artistic, or healing pursuits. These people may feel a strong duty to serve others, but they perhaps need to learn to set boundaries to avoid becoming easily overwhelmed. They might also experience challenges in trusting their intuition or in clearly defining their personal and professional goals.

Practical Spirituality

Over time, Saturn in Pisces teaches the importance of structure within creativity and spirituality. When mastered, this placement allows for disciplined artistic expression, practical spirituality and their ability to bring their dreams into reality in a tangible way.

Mercury in Pisces

Abstract Thoughts

Mercury governs communication, thinking and perception and while it is Pisces it is intuitive, imaginative and dreamy. People with Mercury in Pisces think in patterns, symbols, emotions and abstract concepts rather than rigid logic. Their communication style is poetic, expressive and often deeply emotional.

Storytelling and Fairy Tales

Mercurial Pisceans may be excellent storytellers, musicians, or visual artists, as they can convey deep emotions through their chosen medium. Yet, their thought processes can sometimes be scattered and they may struggle with the details or analytical tasks.  They tend to rely on gut feelings rather than logic, which can make decision-making perplexing.

Spiritual Messages

Mercury in Pisces people thrive in creative and spiritual fields but may need to work on grounding their thoughts and being clear in communication, as they can sometimes be vague, confused or misunderstood. Writing, journaling and meditation will most likely help to bring them clarity to their thoughts.

Neptune in Pisces

Dignified

Neptune is the modern ruling planet of Pisces (Jupiter is the traditional ruler) and when it is in its home sign, its influence is super strong. This placement enhances intuition, spirituality, creativity and compassion on a collective level.

What Goes Unsaid

People born with Neptune in Pisces are deeply connected to the mystical and unseen realms. They may have natural psychic abilities, clairvoyance or a strong interest in spiritual practices like meditation, crystal ball reading, or energy healing. Their imagination is vast, making them gifted artists, musicians and visionaries.

Seek Grounding

However, the placement of Neptune in Pisces also brings trials surrounding illusions, deception and escapism. It can blur the lines between reality and fantasy, making it easy to become lost in daydreams or unhealthy habits. Developing discernment and grounding practices is crucial for those with Neptune in Pisces.

Collective Healing

On a global scale, Neptune in Pisces influences artistic and spiritual awakenings, inspiring movements focused on compassion, unity and collective healing.

Overarch

It’s not every month that we come across a group of planets which is almost half of the plants available in one sign, but when you do it does add an overarching theme to the period.

Aries / Pisces

Venus will retrograde in the two signs of Aries and Pisces.

Money and Love

Venus retrograde periods can feel like cosmic slowdowns in matters of the heart and finances.

Relationships Revisited

Old flames, long-lost friends, or unresolved conflicts may resurface. Use this time to gain closure or clarity rather than reigniting the past. You may find yourself revisiting old relationships or reflecting on how you communicate your desires and values to others. Expect moments of nostalgia, especially with friendships or romantic partnerships that have unfinished business.

Financial Reflection

Venus governs not only love but also money. Re-evaluate your spending habits, investment strategies and financial goals. Avoid major purchases or signing contracts during this time, as decisions may need revising later.

Solar Return: Sun House Pattern

Solar Return: Sun House Pattern

Author: Alison Price   –   Published: December 2024

💛 Forecasting Astrology

This article is part of my Forecasting category and brings all the transits, graphic ephemeris, solar returns, secondary progressions, solar arc directions and other predictive techniques and articles. Alison

Solar Return Sun House Pattern

Solar Return Sun’s Importance in Forecasting

The solar return Sun house pattern unfolds queietly in the background of your forecasting work.

Many of you as astrologers, will be doing predictions using the direct forecasting technique of solar returns. I’m not going to go into the ins and outs of solar return chart per se, because I’m sure you know how to do that already. However, I do want to discuss how the pattern shift of the solar return Sun unfolds overtime and how it is in a different type of house each year.

Example Chart

I’ll be using the chart of Taylor Swift as my example throughout. Birth data: 5:17am, December 13th, 1989, Reading, PA, USA. Rodden AA.

solar-return-sun-taylor-swift

Solar Return Sun House Pattern

Solar Return Chart

Let me explain the annual motion of the Solar Return Sun through the housesThe Solar Return is a yearly chart cast for the exact moment when the Sun returns to its natal position.

Due to the difference between the solar year (365.25 days) and calendar year (365 days), this moment shifts approximately 6 hours later each year. This 6-hour shift has a significant impact on house placements because the houses are based on the Earth’s daily rotation. In 6 hours, the Earth rotates about 90 degrees (roughly one-quarter of a full 360° rotation). This means that the solar return Sun moves backwards through the houses by about 3 houses each year.

Movement

Same Place

This pattern will only repeat in sequence if you are in the same place on Earth for every solar return birthday. It will be perfect if you use equal houses and live on the equator, otherwise there is a slight warp to the pattern. And if you move from here to there for each birthday the pattern will not hold.

For Taylor Swift, as she has multiple homes around the world, I chose to use her birthplace for this example, although clearly, she would not necessarily be in Reading PA each year, this is an example. You can do this for your own chart as well. Cast the next 12 solar return charts and see how the Sun moves through the houses for each year.

Example Pattern

This list shows the Sun moving through the houses in Swift’s solar return chart for upcoming years. Also note the solar return Sun usually moves about one quarter of the chart backwards. This means that for any solar return chart which you cast, you can usually guess where in the chart the Sun will be in the subsequent year, without having to cast the actual chart.

2038, 2nd House – succedent.

Missing Houses

In this list, please note that she does not have the solar return Sun in the 1st, 8th or 12th houses during this 14-year sample.

Pattern Sort-of

As we can see from this 14-year list sample of her solar return house positions, the movement is not exact.

But what is happening is that we have multiple years in succedent houses, then multiple years in angular houses, and then later, there will be multiple years in cadent houses.

This then shows overarching themes going on for years in her life.

Progressed Lunar Phase

Progressed Lunar Phase

Author: Alison Price   –   Published: March 2025

Working with the Progressed Lunar Phase

Once you understand how to interpret a natal chart, which can take a long time, you would then probably move onto astrological forecasting.

Direct Forecasting

Typically, you would maybe start with direct forecasting techniques like transits first, eclipses and then you’d move on to solar returns.

Symbolic Forecasting

Finally, you’d move on to the symbolic forecasting techniques, of which there are two that I generally use, which are, secondary progressions and solar arc directions. But within secondary progressions is a very important part which is the progressed lunar phase. By the way, if you don’t learn anything else in progressions, you really do need to know about the progressed lunar phase. So, let’s get started…

Transiting Lunar Phase

Definition

Let’s first consider the transiting lunar phases which occurs as the Moon goes round the Earth once a month. These phases begin at the New Moon where the Moon grows in light to the Full Moon. Then from the Full Moon, the light reduces back down to the next New Moon when the cycle begins again. In this way there are two weeks of growth and two weeks of reduction or holding. This is the transiting lunar phase that we all know and love. We can all see the Full Moon, which we have been able to since the day we were born, so it’s nothing new really, but now it is just about understanding the different phases.

The Principle of Phase

The Moon is not the only planet to actually phase. We do see phases of Mercury and Venus quite clearly with the telescope. On occasion there are phases of the other planets, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. We are only likely to see the superior planets when they’re in the full phase, and therefore they are opposite the Sun, because that is really the best time as we can view them from Earth. If the superior planets are on the other side of the Sun to us, we can’t even see them. We never see their full range of phases.

With the inferior planets, Mercury and Venus, we can look and view several of the phases, especially the quarter phases, but not all of the stages as we can see with the Moon. This really means that the Moon dominates when it comes down to phases.

The Lunar Phases

Eight Phases

Throughout the lunar cycle, there are eight Moon phasesThe synodic cycle starts at the Moon’s conjunction to the Sun and finishes when the Moon once more makes a conjunction back to the Sun which takes about 29 1/2 days.

The eight lunar phases in order are:

  • New Moon phase.
  • Crescent phase.
  • First Quarter phase.
  • Gibbous phase.
  • Full Moon phase.
  • Disseminating phase.
  • Last Quarter phase.
  • And Balsamic phase

Natal Chart

Natal Lunar Phase

In your natal chart, you will discover that you have a particular lunar phase and it will be one of the eight phases listed above. Personally, I was born during the Crescent phase, so this means that the Moon was slightly ahead of the Sun and is opening up (or waxing) the angle from the conjunction and thus gaining in light. Your natal lunar phase that you were born with stays with you for the rest of your life.

John Travolta

Example Chart

I just want to show you the difference between the two types of lunar phase. I will use the example of John Travolta’s chart shown below. In this bi-wheel, his natal chart is on the inner ring and his secondary progressed chart is on the outer ring.

Natal Lunar Phase

Travolta’s natal lunar phase is Full (marked in blue). You can see that the Moon has just passed the opposition to the Sun and so is in the Full Moon phase.

Progressed Lunar Phase

He secondary progressed lunar phase is Balsamic (marked in red) because the Moon is moving towards the conjunction to the progressed Sun. We can tell that in a year or two, he will have his very exciting, and highly significant, progressed New Moon. This conjunction will be in Taurus where the Moon is exalted and therefore well placed.

progressed-lunation-phase

Progressed Lunar Phase

Progressed Chart

The secondary progressed chart is calculated by taking one day to equal one year of life. Example, if you are 50 years old, you count forward 50 days in the ephemeris and that is your progressed chart. This sounds simple, but back in the day, when we had to calculate these progressed charts by hand, you really paid attention.

Progressed Sun

All the progressed planets will move. In general, the progressed Sun will move around 1° forward in the zodiac for each year of your life. This progression equates to 360° in 365 days a year, so it does vary slightly.

Progressed Moon to Natal Moon

Now the progressed Moon, because it moves a full cycle in around twenty-nine and a half years, this means that the progressed Moon will return to your natal lunar position at around age twenty-nine and a half. And if, for example, you are fifty years old, as we mentioned earlier, the Moon will then move once more off from the position of your natal Moon and will be somewhere else in your chart.

The progressed Moon can be anywhere in the progressed chart. If you’re over 30, you will have had a full cycle, if you’re over 60 you will have had two full cycles, and if you’re over 90 you will have had three full cycles. But that is the cycle from your progressed Moon to your natal Moon.

Progressed Moon to Progressed Sun

When we look at the progressed lunar phase, we consider the progressed Moon and its relationship to the progressed Sun. As I mentioned earlier, your progressed Sun moves around 1° for each year of your life, so your progressed Sun has moved and the progressed Moon could be anywhere. The point is, that the progressed Moon will still be in a phase with the progressed Sun and this is known as the progressed lunar phase. Even if you were born, as I was with the natal Crescent phase or whatever phase you were born with, you are stuck with that phase for the rest of your life, but your progressed lunar phase changes all the time.

Current Progressed Lunar Phase

You need to find out what phase your progressed Moon is in today and you would do by looking at the position of your progressed Sun and calculating how far the Moon is away from the progressed Sun in the cycle. This will tell you which of the eight phases your progressed Moon is now.

Phase Changes

Timing

The progressed lunar phase will change every three and a half years. In general, there are no orbs with phase change, for example, it is either in the New Moon phase or it’s in the Crescent phase. The progressed Moon is never in two phases at once. Only as the Moon makes the exact aspect to the progressed Sun will the phase change happen. There will be frequent progressed lunar phase changes in your life. As I said, it’s around every three and a half years and you need to know when the next phase change is going to happen for you.

Duration

Phase Change Influence

Even though each phase lasts about three and a half years, the important period is the six months just after the phase has changed. Say for instance, you have a phase change on July 1st, 2025, and maybe your Moon is going from Balsamic to the New Moon phase, this would be a critically important time, and it is known as a progressed New Moon. And bear in mind that each of the phases in their turn will have an impact on your life. But in general, the critical time for the progressed lunar phase change is within six months of that change within the three and a half years. I generally consider this an important forecasting marker around when the progressed Moon is withing 8° of the phase change.

Forecasting

What to Do

As a good astrologer, not only would you find out which progressed lunar phase you are in at the moment, you also need to discover when the progressed Moon will enter into the next progressed lunar phase. The progressed lunar phases have the identical sequence as the transiting lunar phases, but now they are called the progressed lunar phases and I will list them here for clarity. I have some more general forecasting tips as well.

The balsamic phase keywords are surrender, release, giving up the ghost, lying fallow, dissolution and completion.

Events

  • Eclipsing old relationships
  • Preparing energetically for a new life cycle
  • Deep solitude or creativity
  • Completion of a long chapter

This is the soul-rest phase before the rebirth of the Progressed New Moon.

Important Phase Changes

Pecking Order

Not all progressed lunar phases are created equal and some phase changes are tremendously more important than others, allow me to explain.

One Conjunction

The progressed New Moon phase is the most important because it kicks off a fresh cycle for you. This happens once at the start of the synodic cycle at the progressed Moon’s conjunction to the progressed Sun

One Opposition

The next most significant phase is the progressed Full Moon phase because this shows the complete culmination of all your efforts over the last fourteen years since the progressed New Moon occurred. This happens once in the whole cycle at the progressed Moon’s opposition to the progressed Sun.

Two Squares

The 3rd and 4th most important progressed lunar phases transpire at the two quarters. The two square aspects are when the progressed Moon is square (either opening or closing) to the progressed Sun. The two square (tense) phases are the progressed first quarter phase and the progressed last quarter phase.

Four Eighths

The final four phases are of slightly less importance because they are all set at the octile aspects of the semi-squares and sesquiquadrates. When the progressed Moon is semi-square, or sesquiquadrate, to the progressed Sun, is when these four phases come into effect, and they are as follows:

  • Progressed Crescent phase (opening semi-square).
  • Progressed Gibbous phase (opening sesquiquadrate).
  • Progressed Disseminating phase (closing sesquiquadrate).
  • Progressed Balsamic phase (closing semi-square).

Forecasting Skills

Progressions

As a forecasting astrologer, you would do well to pay close attention to any progressed lunar phase change for your client in the upcoming twelve months for which you are forecasting. If your client happens to come to you during a time when you look one year forward and there is no progressed lunar phase change, then you are unlikely to be mention this at all. However, if in the next twelve months there is going to be a progress lunation phase change, it is critical that you comment on it.

Exact Day

There will be a specific day when the progressed phase changes as the Moon makes the exact aspect to the Sun. Generally, you don’t want to mention forecast shifts or things to-the-day because, of course, birth times are always slightly out. What you want to do is discuss the fact that during the third week of October, for example, there’s going to be shift in energy.

You don’t need to mention that it’s the progressed lunar phase that changing, we know that it is, but from your client’s point of view you only need to explain that there is going to be an energy shift related to the actual sign, house and phase unfolding for them.

Interpretation Steps

1. Progressed Moon Aspect Progressed Sun

Look for the exact aspect between the progressed Moon and the progressed Sun to find out exactly which day the phase change will occur. If you have the professional astrology software Solar Fire, it will calculate it for you. However, if you’re using Astra Gold, you can just step the progressed chart forward to find out which day this occurs.

2. Sign and Degree

You need to find out which sign the progressed Moon will be in at the phase change. With this sign, of course, you would pay attention to the essential dignity so that you can determine whether the Moon is well placed or not for your client in this progressed period.

3. Aspects

Pay attention to all aspects the progressed Moon makes into the natal chart. Particularly look for conjunctions, oppositions or squares to natal planets. Additionally, check the Moon’s connection to the nodal axis within the natal chart.

Secondary Progressions

Here are some secondary progressions and progressed Moon themed books which may interest you.

Overarch

Direct

When you start with forecasting, it’s best to begin with direct forecasting techniques and that means transits as you get a grip on what’s going on up there now. Next, I suggest you move on to solar returns because they’re just an extension of transits.

Indirect

Once you decide to move into symbolic forecasting the best place to start is with secondary progressions. And as I say, if you only do one thing, do the progressed Moon because it’s a fast-moving progression. You can monitor the progressed Moon in your own life and the lives of your family members. See how these phases unfold through the cycle and the critical phase changes which happen at the eight specific hard aspects to the Sun, which is around once in every three and a half years.

Example Chart: Maxie

Example Chart: Maxie

Author: Alison Price   –   Updated: January 2025

Example Chart Reading

I have so many requests from my readers for example chart readings and wanting more about how to get going with chart readings, where to start, what to look at first and what’s important. There are also many questions about what to ignore and move forward. I do think because there are so many moving parts with chart reading that it can be overwhelming to start with.

This week I’m going to go over again the basic approach I take to natal chart reading. I’m going to show what I pull forward initially and what I consider to be important in the natal chart and also how I would approach a 12-month forecast for an individual chart.

Information Overload

As I can only spend so much time doing this reading for our listener Maxie, in some instances I’ve just listed highlights about what I would be looking for, but without filling all the details out. But then further down I have explained in more detail about the two questions she had really, which were about forecasting in 2025 for love and career. While the natal chart is not fully fleshed out in this chart, I would normally explore all the full natal chart if she was an actual client.

Natal Chart

When I’m looking at a natal chart, there are 5 main points that I pull out to start with, and they are in order.

Let’s have a look at these 5 main chart points in greater detail.

Strong Balances

With balances. I’m looking for a broad overview of the chart before I get into the nitty gritty of the planetsAlso note, when I’m considering balances, I’m only looking at the visible planets. The seven visible planets are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

Balances Overview

Part 2: Ascendant Complex

With the ascendant complex I’m looking at. The sign of the ascendant, the ascendant degree, any aspects to the ascendant degree, and any first house tenants.

Ascendant Degree: 07°29′.

1st House Tenants: Chiron

Ascendant Aspects Neutral: Ascendant conjoined Chiron.

Ascendant Aspects Hard: Ascendant opposition Saturn.

Ascendant Aspects Soft: Ascendant trine Jupiter.

Saturn-purple

Part 3: Chart Ruler Complex

With the chart ruler complex, I’m looking to find the ruler of the Ascendant, the specific planet. I want to know which sign is it in, which house is it in and what is its condition by the aspects it has flowing towards it and whether or not it has position within the chart. If there are two chart rulers, each one has its own sheet.

Planet: Saturn

Direction: Retrograde

Sign: Cancer

Part 4: Luminaries: The Sun

The luminaries are the Sun and the Moon. With the Sun, I want to know what sign is it in, what house is it in, what aspects it has and whether or not it has positioned within the chart.

Sign: Scorpio.

House: 11th house succedent. Has accidental detriment.

Rules: 9th house.

blue-moon

Part 4: The Luminaries: The Moon

Turning our attention now to the Moon, I’m looking at the sign the moon is in, the house the moon is in, whether or not it has positioned within the chart. I want to know what aspects the Moon has. At this point I will also be considering the lunar phase. Depending on the chart, I may at this point look into the lunar nodes as well.

Sign: Gemini.

House: 6th, cadent.

Rules: Southern hemisphere, 3rd quadrant and the 7th house.

Speed: Slow.

Declination: Out of bounds at N26°15′.

Lunar phase: Full Moon Phase.

Aspects Neutral: None

Aspects Hard

Moon opposition Pluto.

Moon square Midheaven.

Aspects Soft

Moon trine Uranus.

Major aspect pattern: None.

Major Aspect Patterns

Next, I turn my attention to any major aspect patterns within the chart. So that would include stelliums grand crosses, grand trines, T-squares and the like. I would consider the major aspect patterns in sequence of important as well. I’m also paying attention to whether or not the chart ruler, or the Sun, or the Moon is part of these major aspect patterns.

Maxie has an astonishing five major aspect patterns, a mystic rectangle, a water grand trine, a Venus mutable T-square, a Pluto mutable T-square and a Saturn Thor’s Hammer or Finger of the World.

Mystic Rectangle

The passive Mystic Rectangle is between Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Chiron.

Water Grand Trine

The water grand trine is between the Sun, Mars and Saturn (chart ruler).

Venus Mutable T-square

Her mutable Venus T-square has Venus square Mars and Jupiter and Jupiter and Mars are in opposition.

Note that Venus and Pluto are conjoined, so really these two T-squares could be interpreted as one.

Pluto T square

Her mutable Pluto T square has Pluto square Mars and Jupiter, and Mars and Jupiter are in opposition.

Saturn Thors Hammer or Finger of the World

Her Saturn Thor’s Hammer has Saturn sesquiquadrate to Mercury and Uranus, and Mercury and Uranus are square each other.

Committee Dispositor Tree

She has a 3-planet committee dispositor tree Mercury, Jupiter and Mars in the committee. Also note that Saturn, which is the chart ruler, is actually gateway planet above Chiron, Neptune and Uranus.

Maxie’s Forecasting 2025

Special Focus

Maxie’s special focus request was “Romantic relationships and Work within the next year.”

Career

Regarding her first question about career, I looked at the 10th, 6th, and 2nd house and I considered Saturn and Mercury as the ruler of the Midheaven.

The solar return chart contains a very obvious pointer towards her career this year.

There were quite a few transits that will influence her career this year and I don’t want to go into them in great detail in this newsletter, but you can read full story on the main blog post.

Romance

The other part of her question was about romantic relationships. For her love life I looked at her 5th and 7th houses and Venus in greater detail. There are several significant transits coming up for her this year. Additionally, her progressed Venus has made a recent shift that is significant too. Furthermore, I picked up on things such as her Part of Marriage position and considered some aspects to the vertex.

Career

For career related questions we look at the 10th, 6th and 2nd houses and at Saturn’s complex.

10th House

10th Cusp Virgo ruled by Mercury

6th House

6th Cusp Gemini ruled by Mercury

Moon in 6th

Transiting Jupiter 6th

Transiting Jupiter in 6th until July 13th.

2nd House

2nd Cusp Aquarius ruled by Saturn (chart ruler) and Uranus

Neptune in 2nd

Transiting Pluto

Pluto just entered 2nd house

Saturn Complex

Saturn in 7th, chart ruler, retrograde and in detriment in Cancer.

Affairs of the Heart

5th House

Romance (5th)

For romance and love life questions we look at the 5th house complex.

5th cusp is Taurus so Venus rules 5th house.

The 5th house is where love blossoms. The 5th house represents dating, romances, flirting and looking for romantic partner. It is where you can fall in love.

North Node in 5th

Destiny is in your love life. Anytime a transiting planet conjoins your north node in the 5th house, you’re likely to feel that you are destined to love this person and they were destined to love you. Make sure that you have engage your mind as well, and I’m not just following your heart.

Vertex in 5th

The Vertex in the 5th house is a classic indicator of where people come and go within your life. This natal placement typically suggests that you cycle back around to people you knew and loved before. The Vertex in the 5th house is often an indication that people whom you knew in your past will remain in your heart, often for the rest of your life.

When any transiting planet conjoins your natal Vertex, at 16° Taurus, you are likely to feel the urge to rekindle an old flame. Additionally, any person who has their natal Sun conjoined your Vertex is likely to be seen as a romantic interest for you. These would be people whose birthday is on the 7th, 8th, or 9th of May of any year.

Committed Partnerships (7th)

7th house complex

7th house tenants: Saturn.

The 7th house ruler is the Moon in Gemini in the 6th.

Part of Marriage is at 3° 21′ Leo.

Intimacy (8th)

8th house ruler is the Sun.

Consider Mars for the chase and intimacy.

Consider Pluto for intimacy.

Venus

Venus for love. Veuns is in Sagittarius in the 12th house. Venus is the focal plant of one T-square.

2025 Inner Transits

The Sun, Mercury and Venus, travel close together and will bring their energies to bear on your romance for a varied time this year.

Transiting Sun

The transiting Sun will stimulate your love life from April 21st until May 26th. If you are single, this is a great time to meet somebody who touches your heart. If you are in a relationship, you may find that it becomes more significant the longer you spend the time with them.

Transiting Mercury

Mercury enters your 5th house on May the 10th until. May the 26th. For a short two weeks planet Mercury will stimulate your romantic sector as well. But this energy is more likely to be expressed through communications, new contacts you meet and anyone you meet face-to-face, or you exchange emails with or phone numbers who may be more important for you later on. In general, this is a great time to connect with people who you really enjoy being with, but not necessarily romantically although they certainly can be.

Transiting Venus

Transiting Venus when enter your 5th house on June the 7th until July 8th. As Venus passes through your 5th House of romance and love affairs, it is an ideal time to fall in love. Although you have to realize that Venus does this every single year of your life and it’s not every year you’re falling in love. However, if you are open to it, you are likely to meet somebody whom you find valuable, someone who you find worthwhile, and someone who you can appreciate on a deeper level, when Venus transits your 5th house.

7th House

7th cusp is Cancer so the Moon rules 7th

The 7th house represents all serious relationships such as marriage and long-term common-law relationships. In includes commitments like betrothals, engagements, dowries and prenuptial contracts. With Cancer on the cusp of 7th house and therefore the Moon ruling is likely that you will find your life-partner through family connections or via someone within your heritage.

Natal Saturn in 7th

Saturn is the chart ruler and retrograde and in detriment. Saturn in the 7th house typically indicates that you will marry an older, more established person or someone with a solid reputation. This placement suggests that you will marry later in life and usually after age 30 past your first Saturn return. Saturn in the 7th house (as the ruler of time) also indicates longevity and staying power with people who are in it for the long haul, in all your committed relationships.

2025 Superior Transits

Transiting Mars

Transiting Mars is currently in your 7th house retrograding back. It will go direct on February the 24th (this is a turning point) and then Mars will continue through the rest of your 7th house until it finally leaves on April the 20th.

So between now and mid-April there is likely to be a lot of activity in your relationship area. Mars is the planet that creates heat, friction and get you off the couch and urges you towards activities that help you seek out a partner.

While Mars is still retrograding, so up until February the 24th, things will not be clear.

It is only from February 25th onwards to April 20th, that you are likely to be able to clearly see a viable guy who can be a partner for you.

Remember too that Mars will come through your 7th house every two years. While you are not likely to get married every two years, nobody does, you are likely to have a more active partnership where you do things together. Perhaps you get outside, maybe with a sport activity or you both go hiking or something like that where you’re actually spending time together, doing something, with somebody.

Even people who’ve been married for 20 years will decide to do something with their spouse during the time that Mars stimulates their 7th house.

Transiting Jupiter

Jupiter enters your 7th house for almost a year from July 13th, 2025, until June 2026.

When Jupiter enters your 7th house, there is likely to be opportunity for a serious relationship. What once started out as fun and laughter may finally expand into a partnership where you feel you could go far in life with the person. You are likely to have known someone for a while (since Jupiter was in your 5th) and then suddenly you see them with fresh eyes.

The only downside to this transit is that you may be presented with more than one opportunity to cinch the deal. The danger here is that you may let someone special slip away while you’re off dallying elsewhere.

The Graphic Ephemeris

Forecast Time Frame

I’ve created a graphic ephemeris spanning two years beginning six months ago in July 2024. This graphic ephemeris only shows the aspects of the 8th harmonic, the conjunctions, oppositions, squares, semi-squares and sesquiquadrates.

I’m also only displaying the planets from Jupiter outwards.

Y-axis

Maxie’s natal positions are on the far-right column going down and each of her natal planets has a horizontal dotted line going across the page. As the transiting planets make aspects to the natal planets, the aspect glyph is placed at the intersection.

You can note that not every aspect is as relevant as others.

Maxie-graphic-ephemeris

Transiting Jupiter in the GE

Jupiter opposition Venus and Jupiter square Mars

Because Max is Venus and Mars are in a tight square, anytime when a transiting planet makes an aspect to either one, they will also make the aspect to the other. When back in July 2024, as Jupiter came by, it made the opposition to Venus and then the square to Mars. That was the first pass.

Jupiter then continued on direct and eventually retrograded back.

We see that now during January, February and March, Jupiter is peaking at the top in going to be making its station as well. This gives an extended period of January, February and half of March where Jupiter is is opposition her Venus and Jupiter is square Mars at the same time.

Both of these planets have to do with relationships, so we would be interested to looking at that as well.

Jupiter enters 7th House

Moving on to July 2025, you can clearly see where Jupiter is opposing the Ascendant, which really means that it’s entering the 7th House of serious partnerships.

Saturn Opposition Midheaven

During April 2025, Saturn will opposer Midheaven. That is the first pass. It then retrogrades back and once again opposes her Midheaven, retrograde,  in October 2025, and then finally makes the final and 3rd pass in January 2026 when Saturn once more opposes her Midheaven.

1st Pass

Typically, with a three hit transit. The first connection. Opens up the situation. So what happens in April career wise for her will be important to pay attention to. It could be people she meets or contacts you mates. Or even some training that she does.

2nd Pass

The second pass. Which in this case will be in October. Will bring more focus to. The situation that began to unfold during April and things can get firmed up at this point. However, because it is retrograde, she will still not have all the full details of how things are going to unfold. This could be a time of scrambling too. Established parameters or perhaps? Decide which company she might want to work with, or with bosses you may want to work with. But at this point, the fight nothing has been finalized. It is still under discussion during the retrograde.

3rd Pass

At the 3rd and final, direct part of Saturn opposing her Midheaven that’s occurs in January 2026, this is likely to be the month where things are finalized. Where perhaps she gets a job in the company she wants to work for, or perhaps she creates her own business that she’s been working on for over 8 months. As always at the third pass, it shows the finality of the situation which Saturn has created, established and maintained for her which began back in April 2025.

These three contact points where Saturn opposes the Midheaven on the three separate months will be highlighted. These are months where a lot more activity and achievements can be made career wise, but it is only as Saturn finally clears the last opposition that we will be able to see the outcome of her plans that have unfolded.

Interpretation

Saturn is the chart ruler, so any transits from Saturn are always important for her.

As Saturn moves into the 4th house and opposes her Midheaven is suggests there will be challenges with logistics to do with the home life and the career. Saturn in the 4th house is a very patriotic placement where people like to stay close to home.

However, it can also be a time when she establish a firm base from which to launch her life, because the IC see indicates the foundations of your life. She will want to create this firm base (perhaps buy a home) where she can launch her career from as she ventures out in the public domain.

It will be important for Maxie to make sure her home base is secure as she lines up career prospects that are calling her in her work life.

Transiting Uranus in the Graphic Ephemeris

Transiting Uranus will oppose Mercury during 2025 / 2026. The first pass will occur towards the last week at the end of June into July. The second pass will be at the early weeks of November and the third pass will be the last half of April 2026 moving into May.

Interpretation.

In Maxie’s natal chart, Mercury rules the Midheaven, so anytime planets contact Mercury, it will have a knock-on effect towards her career.

1st Pass

The first pass in June / July 2025 will set the stage and open up negotiations. Uranus opposing Mercury is likely to bring her unexpected connections and contacts that will benefit her later. This really means that she might be meeting people who can be influential in her future.

2nd Pass

Moving on to the second retrograde pass in November 2025. Again, this is likely to be a time where she continues to find new and innovative ways of communication or language skills or even considers doing more writing.

The second pass is always where you’re still in the midst of the situation, you are still in the weeds wading through. At this point you have to remember that you still do not have all the information, but you have enough to go on to start making plans.

3rd Pass

The 3rd and final pass of Uranus opposing Mercury will be in April and May 2026.

For example, this could be a time where she changes of designation in her career or where she perhaps does some writing, language, communication or editing or reviewing because it’s Mercury as the MC ruler it can be anything that has to do with her career.

One other thing that comes to mind is that her resume, CV or even her LinkedIn profile at this point will be established in the world the exact way she wants it to be.

From this point onwards, she could reflect back to June 2025 to how she thought things were going to unfold in her future (because the future is represented by Uranus).

Alternatively, it can be that she embraces new technology or something modern and fashionable which then becomes the main thing that she is talking about and thinking about in her day-to-day career.

Transiting Chiron semisquare Venus in the GE

Transiting Chiron on will make a semi-square to her Venus for an extended period from June to September 2025. It will then reappear in April 2026.

Interpretation

During this time, she could anticipate that Chiron and her love life represented by Venus will be a focus for her. Chiron is the gift in your chart, and it brings potential for good things once you have overcome any wounds you may have. Because it is opposing Venus, we would look to this as affairs of the heart and the love life where perhaps past hurts can finally be healed.

Clearly, everyone’s love life is a complex thing, but during the mid-year of 2025, Maxie will need to give herself some time to work through and heal any issues that there may be in her, in her love life. This may not be easy.

For example, if she has been hurt romantically, this will need to be worked through before she can start another romantic relationship and not take the baggage (Chiron) with her into her new love life. Chiron will make the final opposition to Venus in April 2026, when once more these issues could come forward.

This Chiron opposition is unlikely to supersede the Jupiter going through her 7th house, bringing optimism and luck in serious and meaningful partnerships.

Venus

Progressed Venus enters your 1st house

On September the 8th, 2024 (basically four months ago) her progressed Venus crossed the Ascendant and entered your 1st house for personality.

Venus is likely to stay in your first house for around 30 years, although the main potency of this energy shift will only last until September 2025, whilst Venus is in orb of the conjunction to the Ascendant. Symbolically, this is Venus coming out of the darkness and entering the light. It can be an indication that love, and finances become more clear to you at this time and that the focus is on what youwant, rather than what you feel society is imposing on you.

The reason that we are looking at Venus, not only because Venus is the planet of love, but also because Venus rules your 5th house for romance. Your progressed Venus entering the 1st house, brings a sharp focus to you as a person. It lets you show your femininity, who you are as a young woman and what you would like to attract and what are looking for in love.

Progressed Sun conjoined Venus

In October 2025, your progressed Sun will exactly conjoin your natal Venus in the 12th house. This will be a highly auspicious time and even the two months leading up to it (before and after when the Sun is in orb of Venus) will be times that vibrate with this positive energy. Anytime the Sun comes through, it’s usually a good thing.

Solar Return

Solar Return November 2024

Your solar return chart is calculated every year at your birthday in November and will last for 12 months until your next birthday in November 2025. In this particular solar return chart for 2024, the Sun is in your 10th house.

This is a dynamic position bringing a bright spotlight onto your career. If you were thinking of moving up the corporate ladder or if you were thinking of opening your own business, this would be a brilliant time to do so, before November this year.

Solar Return: Sun Aspect Pattern

Sun Yod

Your current solar return’s Sun is at is the focal point in a yod patternThis is highly significant. The Sun is both quincunx to Jupiter and Chiron. Jupiter and Chiron are sextile to each other this creates the yod major aspect pattern.

Yods are typically spiritual in nature and the planet that is being pointed at, and in this case, it is the Sun in the 10th house, is the main feature for the pattern. This yod in your solar return chart is the main indicator.

Interpretation

This Sun yod shows that your growth potential and optimism (Jupiter) and your teaching or healing powers (Chiron), are flowing towards you, yourself, personally, (the Sun). It is a period when you have to step into the limelight. Remember, the Sun is your identity, it is who you are, your beating heart and life force. The Sun in a chart shows where you can stand up authentically as yourself without bending to the whims of others.

Mars Retrograde

Mars Retrograde

Author: Alison Price   –   Published: November 2024

Mars Retrograde

During late 2024 and early 2025 the red planet, Mars, is having its retrograde cycle. Mars only retrogrades every second year or around every twenty-six months. This time, Mars will be retrograding across the sign cusp between Cancer and Leo. It will spend 23 weeks in Cancer, and it will spend 16 weeks in Leo in total. These two periods in the signs are broken into two parts. Bearing in mind that typically, Mars will spend six and a half weeks in each sign, but this is when it is moving fast and direct. What this all means is that for most of the time Mars dashes through a sign in around six to seven weeks, but during its retrograde phase, it spends almost four times as much time in one sign or another.

Superior Planet Retrogrades

Sun Aspects

All superior planets start their retrograde periods from around their trine aspect to the Sun. As the Sun moves through the zodiac, about one third of the year later, the retrograde period ends at around the second trine of the planet to the Sun. It is not just the two trines, but also the opposition to the Sun that happens during the retrograde period. All planets past the Earth are retrograde when in opposition to the Sun.

Each Mars retrograde period typically lasts about 60-80 days (roughly 2 to 2.5 months). The time between the start of one Mars retrograde and the next is, on average, 780 days or about 2 years and 50 days. The exact timing can vary slightly due to the elliptical nature of Mars’ orbit. Because of the regularity of planetary orbits, we can predict Mars retrograde periods far into the future and of course you can see this in your ephemeris. Mars takes about 15-17 years to make a complete retrograde cycle through all the signs.

Comparison Cycles

  • Mercury – every 4 months.
  • Venus – every 18 months.
  • Mars – every 26 months.
  • Outer planets – annually.

This relatively infrequent occurrence of Mars retrograde makes each instance super interesting for astrologers.

Mars Retrograde Visibility

Perihelion

Mars will be particularly bright during this period, as it retrogrades when it is closest to the Earth in its orbit. Mars will be prominently visible in the night sky in this position and you can see Mars, as it will be at its brightest and largest now. This means that now you can see Mars at night after the Sun has set and it is showing its face to us as a full-on disk which is great for photography.

Retrograde Cycle Unfolding

Transits

Each retrograde cycle has the same parts but the planet and the signs the planet transits make all the difference. Let’s have a closer look at this years’ Mars retrograde period.

Mars Enters Pre-shadow

October 7th, 2024

Mars is in Cancer and entered the pre-shadow on October the 7th 2024. You also want to note that Mars is in fall in the sign of cancer. Which is not a very good sign for Mars to be effective in.

Interpretation

As Mars enters the pre shadow, it sets the stage at the first pass of any planet or point from now on. As Mercury makes contact by aspect with planets in your chart, situations will unfold that will then be further explored on the other two passes during the retrograde cycle. Make sure you know exactly which planets Mars is going to contact in your chart and pay close attention to what unfolds on those days.

Mars enters Leo 1st time

November 5th, 2024

Mars will leave Cancer and enter Leo on November the 5th, 2024. The sign of The Lion fits better with Mars than Cancer did not only because it was in fall in Cancer, but because Leo is a fire sign and Mars rules the fire sign of Aries.

Interpretation

As Mars enters the sign Leo, things start to heat up. In general, you can anticipate higher levels of drama and sometimes loud and pushy behavior for most people. If you are a creative person, you are likely to make some wonderful work at this time.

Mars Stations Retrograde

December 6th, 2024

Mars’ retrograde period begins on December 6th as it stations retrograde at six degrees Leo. This is the main part of the retrograde period.

Interpretation

During December, Mars slows down as it reaches the station retrograde. This is the main turning point and indicates the start of the retrograde part of the cycle. Now Mars is going to retrace its steps which started back in October. This is the time when situations that did unfold when Mars was in the shadow return. More information is coming forward and you may have to make adjustments or reassess situations. You are likely to discover new things about situations that you were trying to get into motion. Mars will linger in orb of the station for about 12 days, so from December 1st to December 12th it is in orb of the station.

Station Orbs

Note: For all planets to be in orb of a station, either retrograde or direct, the planet must be within 0°10′ to the exact turning point. This means that the further out the planet is in the solar system, the longer the lingering, and what I like to call the, “loitering with intent” on one particular degree is. This is another reason why transiting outer planets have more oomph than personal planet transits.

Mars Enters Cancer Retrograde

January 6th, 2025

During January, Mars still retrograde, will pass from Leo into Cancer thus once more into the sign of its fall, The Crab.

Interpretation

Part of the way through Mars’ retrograde path it reverts back into Cancer. Here there is a shift of energy from boisterous and outgoing Leo back to a more receptive Cancer and the Martian activities are likely to be either withdrawn or held back in some way.

Mars Stations Direct

February 24th, 2025

During February, Mars will make its station direct at 17° Cancer. This means that it has transited back in Cancer from 29° all the way back to 17° before it stops, stations and reverses its movement. From this point on, Mars is moving direct, and the retrograde part of the cycle has actually finished. Again, Mars will linger in orb of the station for about 12 days so from between February 18th to March 1st it is in orb of the station.

Interpretation

Towards the end of February, Mars once more starts to slow down as it comes towards the station direct. Now Mars will start to move forward again as it makes the third pass to any of the aspects that it made earlier in the first direct and the second retrograde pass. Now as Mars comes through, the final outcomes of activities or events that were started during this retrograde period are likely to be finalized. As Mars makes its final and 3rd aspect, the activities and actions which were brought to life will be cemented and firmed up now. If you were wondering about taking a particular course of action, this will be the moment, when the final decision will be made.

Mars Enters Leo Direct 2nd time

April 18th, 2025

When we get to April, Mars will enter Leo for the second time as it continues to move direct.

Interpretation

Mars again enters Leo during mid-April and shakes off any passive feelings to create something colourful, exciting and new in Leo. Projects that you have given birth to will flourish now.

Mars Leaves the After Shadow

May 3rd, 2025

Finally, on May 3rd, 2025, Mars will leave the after-shadow of this retrograde periodand it’s all over bar the shouting.

Phew!

This Mars retrograde period will affect anyone whose birthday is from July 10th to July 30th.

This particular Mars retrograde period will affect anybody, by conjunction, who has planets or points between 17° Cancer and 6° Leo. With the conjunction, transiting Mars will energize the planet or point and galvanize it into action.

It will give a triple hit opposition to any person with planets or points between 17° Capricorn and 6° Aquarius. With the opposition, transiting Mars will generate outward challenges and competition with the planet or point.
