April 2026

This month sees lots of ingresses as five planets the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Uranus change signs.

Direction

This month no planets station and there are no planets retrograde!

Eclipses and Lunations

There is a Full Moon and New Moon which are a fortnight apart from each other.

Solar Cycle

The Sun continues to move north from the equinox back in March increasing in declination as it moves northwards towards the solstice in June.

April 2026

2nd Full Moon Libra

The Full Moon at 12° Libra shines a light on your relationships, balance, and harmony. It reveals where give-and-take may be uneven and tends to encourage fairness and peace. This is a time to restore your emotional equilibrium, strengthen partnerships and make choices that bring beauty, cooperation and grace into your connections and your life.

The Moon is feminine, passive, reflective, and moody. The Moon represents your mother, cooks, and caregivers. The Moon rules Cancer.

9th Mars enters Aries

On the 9th of April, Mars crosses the beginning of the Zodiac and enters its own sign of Aries. The Red Planet is at its most powerful and dynamic now as it can express itself completely. Anticipate high energy levels, competition and being a witness to the genesis of things.

Qualities

Mars is masculine. Mars competes, challenges and acts. Mars represents young men, boyfriends, bad boys, pioneers, firemen and soldiers. Mars rules Aries and Scorpio.

15th Mercury enters Aries

Good ideas will probably pop into your head as mid-month Mercury enters Aries. The knack will be to assess and filter the good concepts from the not so good. Give yourself time to pause before taking action. Anticipate that the urge to make snap decisions may get you in hot water. If in doubt, sleep on it. This is the time to talk things through ahead of time.

Mercury communicates, trades and is factual. Mercury represents agents, salespeople, youths and teachers. Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo.

17th New Moon Aries

The New Moon at 27° Aries sparks fresh beginnings, courage and action. It’s the ideal time to set bold intentions and take initiative. New Moon wishing under Aries energy helps you focus on personal goals, independence and confidence. Trust your instincts, start something new and lead with passion and purpose.

20th Sun Taurus

As the Sun enters the sign of the Bull, situations and relationships begin to stabilize. The excessive energy of previous weeks now gives way to a steadier and sustainable pace. Make sure your heart is in everything you do. If you need more time, slow things down and do not allow yourself to be rushed as sure and steady wins the race.

The Sun is masculine, warm, bright and life giving. The Sun represents you, your father and your heroes. The Sun rules the sign of Leo.

24th Venus enters Gemini

Now as Venus enters Gemini, you can see two sides to your loved ones, and you may not enjoy both. People are likely to show another face of their personality, especially to loving partners. Double check all financial accounting as you might surpass your credit limit unknowingly.

Venus is feminine. Venus loves, acquires and appreciates. Venus represents young women, girlfriends, sweethearts and accountants. Venus rules Taurus and Libra.

26th Uranus re-enters Gemini

Uranus will re-enter Gemini for the final time on April 26th to leave Taurus behind for now. Read more about Uranus in Gemini here.

Qualities

Uranus changes, breaks and fashions. Uranus represents adolescents, trendsetters, agitators, and immigrants. Uranus rules Aquarius.

April 2025 Background Energy

Broad Strokes

I always like to get a feel for the month by looking the background energy.

This is typically shown through all the planetary positions by their sign components of polarity, element and modeemphasis.

As each month develops, planets move and create the background energy modifications that I’m talking about here.

Energy Count

For my background energy count I only consider ten planets which are the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron.

No Moon

In my broad stroke analysis I ignore the Moon because it move through every sign during the course of one month so it makes no sense.

This is not an exact science, but what in astrology is?

1st April 2026

Polarity

By April 1st the polarities are still balanced with five planets in active and five in passive.

Element

The elemental emphasis by the end of the month is strongly Fire with four planets now in Fire. Also note that Water is a close second with three planets.

Mode

The mode shift is towards Cardinal with five planets in the Cardinal signs by the end of the month.

Overall

This results in an emphasis on Cardinal Fire which equates to the sign of Aries.

Which is great as sometimes, as you well know, the emphasis when broken down does not relate to the main sign, but once more by the end of March it does. Woo Hoo.

30th April 2026

Polarity

April ends with the active polarity super strong with 8 planets in active and only 2 in passive.

Element

The elemental emphasis at the end of the month is strong with five planets in Fire.

Mode

The modal energy leans towards Cardinal with an impressive six planets in Cardinal signs at the start of the month.

Overall

This results in an emphasis on Cardinal Fire which equates to the sign of Aries. Which is not the Sun sign at the end of April because it is actually Taurus, but the Sun is the only planet in Taurus.

Goddess of the Month

April: Scáthach

For April we highlight the Scottish goddess Scáthach from the Isle of Skye. Pronunciation is roughly Ska hawk or Ska hakh with a soft throaty ending.

Overarch

Thoughts to Take with You

April carries us fully into mid spring. The light lingers a little longer, the air softens and life begins to stretch and move again. It is a month that invites gentle momentum rather than rushing, a time to notice what is waking up both around you and within you.

As the days warm, allow yourself to ease forward with intention. Growth does not need to be loud to be meaningful. Small steps, quiet insights and simple pleasures all count now.
