The ABCs of Astrology

The ABCs of Astrology

The ABCs of Astrology

In this particular episode, we’re going to explore the whimsical side of astrology by examining the ABCs of this mystical discipline.

Each letter of the alphabet will feature a chosen astrological component but be aware that not all aspects will be covered.

To illustrate, the letter C could stand for Chart, Cancer, Conjunction, Chiron, or Capricorn, and there are likely numerous other astrological terms that readily come to mind.

Without further ado, let’s begin our journey with the letter A.

A is for Aspects

In astrology, aspects refer to the angular relationships between celestial bodies in a birth chart. These relationships, determined by the degrees of separation between planets, reflect specific energetic connections and influences. Aspects reveal the dynamic interplay between various planetary energies, shaping an individual’s personality traits, potentials, and life experiences. They can indicate harmonious or challenging interactions, highlighting areas of strength, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Common aspects include conjunctions (when planets are close together), squares (90-degree angles), trines (120-degree angles), and oppositions (180-degree angles). The nature of the aspect determines the nature of the interaction, influencing the overall astrological interpretation.

B is for Books

If you’re delving into astrology and seeking some insightful reading material, I have a few book recommendations for you.

Consider adding the following three titles to your astrology collection:

the-american-ephemeris-book-cover

  • An Ephemeris” – This book provides essential astronomical data, such as the positions of celestial bodies, which is crucial for accurate astrological calculations and chart interpretations.

  • The Contemporary Astrologer’s Handbook” by Sue Tompkins, this handbook offers a comprehensive guide to modern astrology, covering various techniques, chart interpretation, and practical advice for aspiring astrologers.

  • Planets in Transit” by Robert Hand, this book explores the influence of planetary transits, revealing how the movement of planets in relation to an individual’s birth chart can shape and influence life events and personal growth.

These three books can serve as valuable resources to deepen your understanding of astrology and enhance your astrological practice.

C is for Chart

The centerpiece of any astrology session lies in the chart, a profound depiction of your life and spiritual voyage.

Your individual birth chart acts as a blueprint, unveiling the intricate details of your existence.

Numerous chart variations exist, including:

  • Natal charts: It highlights the positions of celestial bodies at the time of your birth, shedding light on your personality traits, potentials, and life path.
  • Composite charts: These charts combine the birth charts of two individuals to explore the dynamics and potentials of their relationship.
  • Progressed charts: They reflect the evolution of your natal chart over time, offering insights into your personal growth and life transitions.
  • Directed charts: These charts focus on specific periods or themes in your life, providing a more in-depth understanding of their influence and significance.
  • Solar return charts: They are cast for the exact moment when the Sun returns to its natal position each year, providing insights into the upcoming year’s themes and energies.
  • Bi-wheel charts: They feature two charts overlaid, allowing for a comparative analysis of different time periods or individuals.

This list merely scratches the surface, as astrology encompasses a wide array of chart types, each offering unique perspectives and insights into various aspects of life.

D is for Descendant

The descendant, located on the western horizon at the time of your birth, holds significance in your chart.

It symbolizes several facets, including your life partner and the qualities you seek in a companion.

This point highlights the characteristics, values, and attributes you desire in a significant other.

It provides insights into your ideal partner’s traits and helps shape your expectations in relationships.

The descendant plays a crucial role in understanding the dynamics of your partnerships and the type of connection you seek in your journey through life.

E is for Ephemeris

An ephemeris is a table or data set that provides the positions of celestial objects, such as planets, moons, and stars, at specific times.

It contains information on their coordinates, distances, velocities, and other relevant parameters.

Ephemerides play a crucial role in astrology, where they provide information for horoscope charts and planetary alignments.

Overall, ephemerides are vital tools for understanding and navigating the celestial realm.

F is for Fixed Stars

Although all stars are in motion, some appear stationary to us, and we refer to them as fixed stars.

The Four Royal Stars of Persia, including Fomalhaut, Antares, Aldebaran, and Regulus, are considered the primary fixed stars.

They are also known as the watchers of the four cardinal points of North, South, East, and West.

Currently, all of these magnificent stars are located in fixed signs, indicating their significant influence on human affairs.

G is for Glyphs

Glyphs in astrology are symbolic representations used to denote celestial bodies, zodiac signs, and other astrological elements.

Each glyph has a unique design that captures the essence of its corresponding entity.

These symbols serve as a concise and universal language in astrology, enabling astrologers to communicate and record information efficiently.

Glyphs are essential for constructing birth charts, where they represent planets, asteroids and other celestial points.

They are also used to represent zodiac signs, planetary aspects, and other astrological factors in charts and diagrams.

By utilizing glyphs, astrologers can convey complex astrological concepts quickly and accurately, enhancing the understanding and interpretation of astrological systems.

H is for Houses

Houses, alongside signs, form one of the fundamental pillars of astrology.

Astrologers must possess a comprehensive understanding of the significance of houses and the meaning each planet holds within them.

Mastering this knowledge requires time and dedication due to its vast scope. However, the endeavor is immensely rewarding.

For those practicing writing horoscopes, a thorough comprehension of houses becomes indispensable.

It serves as a vital tool for deciphering the intricate dynamics between celestial bodies and human lives, enriching the accuracy and depth of astrological interpretations.

I is for Immun Coeli

In astrology, the Immum Coeli (IC) is a significant point in the birth chart representing the bottommost part of the sky at the time of an individual’s birth.

It is often associated with one’s roots, family, and private life.

The IC signifies the foundation of one’s being, including their upbringing, ancestry, and emotional core.

It influences the person’s sense of security, innermost desires, and personal connection to their home and family.

Understanding the Immum Coeli helps astrologers gain insights into a person’s psychological and emotional foundations, enabling them to explore the deep-seated influences that shape an individual’s sense of belonging and personal identity.

J is for Jupiter

Jupiter stands out in my astrology ABC as the largest planet by a significant margin.

It boasts an impressive number of satellites and is renowned for its iconic Great Red Spot.

Associated with growth, luck, and all things expansive, Jupiter holds dominion over the signs of Sagittarius and traditionally rules Pisces.

These two signs are bicorporeal, symbolized by dual entities within each: Sagittarius depicts a man and a horse, while Pisces showcases two fish.

Jupiter’s influence extends to all that is grandiose and abundant, amplifying the qualities of these signs and emphasizing the multifaceted nature of their symbolism.

K is for Kepler

Johannes Kepler established three laws of planetary motion, and his second law holds particular relevance for astrologers.

This law states that a planet will cover equal areas in equal times.

Consequently, when a planet is closer to the Sun in its orbit, or at perihelion, it moves more rapidly through the zodiac signs.

In contrast, when it is farther away at aphelion, its movement through the signs is slower.

For example, Pluto’s orbit brings it close to the Sun in Scorpio and farther away in Taurus.

Therefore, it takes twenty years for Pluto to transit Scorpio, but it takes forty years to transit Taurus, underscoring the impact of Kepler’s second law on astrological calculations.

L is for Local Mean Time

Local mean time, an essential component in manual chart calculations, required determination in the past.

It differs from standard time within a specific time zone.

Local mean time refers to the time in your specific geographic location, accounting for the variations in longitude.

Prior to the convenience of standardized time zones, individuals had to calculate their local mean time based on their specific longitude.

This adjustment allowed for more accurate astrological chart calculations, taking into account the precise positioning of celestial bodies at the moment of an individual’s birth in their particular location.

M is for Midheaven

The Midheaven, a potent and influential point situated at the pinnacle of every chart, holds significant meaning.

It represents one’s highest achievements and honors, reflecting their endeavors in the public sphere and their notable contributions.

This point sheds light on an individual’s professional pursuits, public image, and the activities for which they are recognized.

It plays a crucial role in shaping one’s reputation, be it for positive acclaim or even notoriety.

The Midheaven serves as a compass, guiding astrologers to gain insights into an individual’s standing in the world and their prominent role, or not, in society.

N is for Nodes

The nodes, also known as the lunar nodes, constitute a pair of points in any chart where the path of the Moon intersects with that of the Sun.

These nodes are present in every chart and gradually regress or move retrograde through the zodiac, though they may occasionally remain direct or stationary for brief periods.

The North node implies forthcoming opportunities and one’s future destiny, while the South node signifies the relinquishment of certain aspects or circumstances and points to one’s past experiences.

By analyzing the placement and movements of these nodes, astrologers can gain insights into an individual’s karmic journey and provide guidance for their path ahead.

O is for Orbs

Orbs function as tolerances in astrology, indicating the degree range within which two celestial bodies can form an aspect.

A narrow or tight orb refers to a range of less than one degree, while a wider orb typically extends to about eight degrees for aspects like conjunctions, oppositions, trines, and squares.

The tighter the orb, the stronger and more precise the aspect is considered to be.

A wider orb allows for a more lenient interpretation, acknowledging the potential influence of the aspect even if the exact degree alignment is not as precise.

Orbs provide astrologers with flexibility in assessing the strength and significance of planetary aspects within a birth chart.

P is for Planets

The planets within a chart embody the energetic forces at play.

Their placement indicates areas of activity and significance.

As planets occupy houses, they infuse vitality and meaning into them.

Planetary positions in signs can determine their state of happiness or lack thereof, which is influenced by their essential dignity.

This reflects how well a planet aligns with the qualities and characteristics of a given sign.

Essentially, the planets serve as active participants, shaping the dynamics and expressions within a chart, with their location and essential dignity providing valuable insights into their influence and impact.

Q is for Quadrants

The four quadrants are defined by two axes: the Ascendant and Descendant, as well as the Midheaven and IC.

  • The first quadrant lies below the Ascendant and represents the realm of the private self.
  • The second quadrant lies below the Descendant, embodying the private interactions with others.
  • The third quadrant sits above the Descendant, symbolizing the public interactions with others.
  • The fourth quadrant resides above the Ascendant, denoting the public self and one’s outward presence.

R is for Retrogrades

With the exception of the Sun and Moon, all planets undergo retrograde motion.

Mercury retrogrades three times annually, Venus retrogrades five times within an eight-year period, and Mars retrogrades approximately once every two years.

The remaining planets experience retrograde motion each year.

The outer planets enter retrograde from their trine aspect to the Sun, continue through the opposition, and conclude at the subsequent trine.

When the outer planets are opposite the Sun, they are all in retrograde.

Retrograde periods add unique dynamics to planetary influences, providing astrologers with valuable insights into the complexities of planetary energies and their impact on individuals’ lives.

S is for Sun Signs

Sun signs are the gateway to astrology as everyone is familiar with their own Sun sign.

It’s usually the first thing people learn about astrology.

Even individuals who are not into astrology are aware of their Sun sign and read horoscopes related to it in the media.

Your Sun sign is determined by the position of the Sun on the day of your birth, such as being in Gemini if your birthday falls between May 21 and June 20.

The signs are categorized into polarities, elements, and modes.

T is for Transits

When beginning the study of astrology, one of the first forecasting techniques introduced is the use of transits.

In fact, many astrologers solely rely on transits for their forecasting practices.

Transits focus on the current and future positions of planets, providing insight into their movements in the upcoming weeks, months, or even years.

By observing where the planets are presently and where they will be in the future, astrologers can gain valuable information about the potential influences and developments in an individual’s life.

Transits serve as a foundational tool for forecasting, enabling astrologers to analyze the dynamic interplay between celestial bodies and their impact on an individual’s chart.

U is for Universe

For the letter U, I have chosen the term “universe.”

While not exclusively an astrology term, it encompasses the entirety of the space in which we exist.

The universe holds a broader significance, encompassing all celestial bodies, energies, and cosmic forces that influence our lives.

While astrology focuses on specific planetary and celestial influences, the concept of the universe reminds us of the vastness and interconnectedness of everything in existence.

It serves as a reminder that astrology is just a part of a much larger cosmic tapestry, inviting contemplation of our place within the grandeur of the universe.

V is for Vertex

The Vertex is an intersecting point in a chart where the prime vertical converges with the ecliptic.

Positioned on the right side of a chart, it commonly resides within the fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth houses.

The Vertex acts as a gateway through which people, situations and events enter and exit our lives.

When the Sun of another person is conjoined your Vertex, it signifies that they are a profoundly influential individual for you.

This alignment suggests a person of great significance, playing a pivotal role in your life’s journey and leaving a lasting impact.

The Vertex serves as a key indicator of significant connections and transformative experiences within the realm of astrology.

W is for Wheel

The wheel serves as the foundation of a chart, visually depicting its structure.

Resembling a wheel with spokes, it delineates the distinct areas of life through the houses and axes in your chart.

The circular form of the wheel symbolizes the cyclical nature of existence and the interconnectedness of various life domains.

The houses represent specific realms of experience, while the axes highlight important dynamics and relationships within the chart.

By visualizing the chart as a wheel, you can gain a comprehensive understanding of how different facets of life intertwine and influence one another, allowing for insightful interpretations and analysis of an individual’s unique cosmic blueprint.

X is for X-Factor

The X-factor in astrology represents your individuality and the unique qualities you bring to chart interpretation.

It remains unknown until you dive into the process.

Your personal approach to understanding and connecting with clients becomes your X-factor.

When interpreting charts, I draw insights from my own birth chart, which reflects my true essence, while you utilize your birth chart and personal experiences to shape your interpretations.

In astrology, there are no rigid rules for interpretations, allowing for individual interests and inclinations to shine through.

Embrace your X-factor and unleash your potential as the best astrologer you were destined to be, utilizing your distinctive perspective to provide meaningful and authentic guidance to others.

Y is for Yod

The Yod aspect in astrology, also known as the “Finger of Fate,” is an intriguing and potent configuration.

It forms when two planets are in sextile (60°) aspect and both form an inconjunct (150°) aspect to a third planet.

The Yod creates a focal point of tension, pushing an individual towards a unique and transformative path.

It represents a karmic challenge or a special mission in one’s life, often requiring adjustment and integration of seemingly contradictory energies.

Those with a Yod aspect pattern possess exceptional potential for personal growth and spiritual evolution, as they navigate the complexities and embrace the opportunities presented by this interesting and impactful configuration.

Z is for Zodiac

The Zodiac signs derive their names from the constellations that the Sun traverses throughout the year.

Only the constellations aligned with the Sun’s path are recognized as Zodiac signs, while those like Orion, despite being well-known, do not fall within the Zodiac.

Although constellations can differ in size, each tropical sign spans a uniform length of thirty degrees.

This standardization allows for consistent division and interpretation of the zodiacal wheel.

By understanding the relationship between the Sun’s journey and the designated signs, astrologers can accurately analyze and interpret the unique characteristics and energies associated with each Zodiac sign.

Greetings Cards

Because I enjoy astro artwork as well, I have created a greeting card with the ABCs images on it and you can find the link in the description.

Pantone – the Color People

Color of the Year

Towards the end of each year, Pantone announces a new color for the forthcoming year.

The publication of the Color of the Year is highly anticipated, mainly by artists, graphic designers, trend setters and the New Age community.

Because this is such a big deal in the world of color, the color which Pantone chooses usually invokes the potential that each New Year heralds.

As someone who loves astro art and color in general I find this interesting.

2023 Viva Magenta

The Pantone color of the year for 2023 is Viva Magenta a rich magenta color.

Colors

Rainbow Colors

The seven colors of the rainbow or spectrum are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

Chakra Colors

The seven chakras are the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown chakras.

The chakras are related to the spectrum colors thus:

Red – root chakra

Orange – sacral chakra

Yellow – solar plexus chakra

Green – heart chakra

Blue – throat chakra

Indigo – third eye chakra

Violet – crown chakra

Crown Chakra

Anyone familiar with chakras will know that the Viva Magenta color is related both the Root (red) and Crown (violet Chakra.

Aquarius

Astrologically the colors are related to the signs.

The 2023 color of the year seems to be associated with the sign of the the Fish, Pisces.

Pisces is associated with many things one of which is that it is a sign of intuition and blending in.

Saturn is shortly going into Pisces to stimulate this color .

Interesting ly Saturn was in Aquarius for the Veri Peri of 2022.

Color Theory and Healing

That color can influence us is well documented and many practitioners will use color to invoke emotional, spiritual and even physical healing.

2023 Potential

I wonder how the choice for this year’s Pantone Color of the Year will unfold during the next 12 months for the world.

Starztober 2025: Astro Art Challenge

Starztober 2025: Astro Art Challenge

Author: Alison Price   –   Updated: September 2025

Starztober: Astro Art Challenge

Introduction

Inktober is an art movement devised by Jake Parker way back in 2009.

It’s a challenge designed to encourage artists to improve their skills and develop positive drawing habits. During Inktober, participants create one ink artwork each day throughout October, resulting in a collection of thirty-one unique pieces by the end of the month.

The challenge is open to artists of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. Each day has a prompt word to inspire creativity and guide the day’s drawing. While the traditional medium is ink, many artists experiment with different materials and techniques, making Inktober a diverse and inclusive event.

Participating in Inktober is not just about the end result; it’s about the journey of daily practice, pushing creative boundaries, and connecting with a global community of artists. By the end of the month, artists often find their skills improved and their artistic horizons expanded.

This week I’m talking about Starztober which is Inktober for astrologers.

I’ve previously done Starztober for several years now where my original Starztober prompts were intermingled with other New Age topics as well, but this year, in 2025, we’re going to look at it slightly differently.

I’ll be starting an Astro Card Deck.

Astro Resources

As someone who taught astrology for over 15 years, I know that the way to learn a subject is not just to read one book. It’s always better to have multiple ways of learning things and this is where Astro cards come in.

There are many published astrology decks and the one I started using was the AT Mann Astrology cards.

They are a Tarot deck with astrological symbols on, which was great to learn with because I knew astrology but I didn’t know Tarot, so I was able to combine the two knowledges.

Astro Journal

Additionally, when learning astrology, you need to be working with your journal making notes, drawing charts, making sketches, appreciating the planetary movements and understanding the keywords for the planets. In this way, you create for yourself learning resources that you can come back to time and time again in the future. Not only do I have a basic astrology journal with clearly the basic stuff in it, but each year I get myself in Leuchtturm A5 journal and turn it into my 2025, 2026 and my 2027 astrology journal.

As I’m tracking what’s interesting me in eclipses, perhaps that’s going on what’s happening each month, this is where I am able to do my monthly overarches as well. It’s an interactive thing where I create with my own fair hand, with my coloured pencils and my markers.

To make diagrams and lists of what’s going on up there right now helps me understand astrology and ultimately this helps you too as my client. I’m continuously developing my astrology knowledge and I’d like to urge you to do that too.

This can be done by creating an astrology card deck for Starztober, which is something that I’ve had on the back burner from for a long time. In the past I tried to do some digital cards, but this year I’ve plumped on the idea of making my very own Astro art card deck. I shall be working through this during Starztober in October 2025.

Sharing My Process

I’m just going to be sharing with you how I decided to work with these particular cards, the sizes I’m using, the papers I’m using and what you really need. I’ve always been a proponent of the adage that you have what you need already, you’ve just got to go and find your stuff. Further down this article I will be giving you the Starztober prompts and because it’s part of a card deck, it’s quite clear what we’re going to do.

Whereas usually, Inktober and Starztober, AHAtober and Pinktober prompts are only revealed to everyone on October the 1st.

Creating an Astro Card Deck

Method

A fun way to learn astrology is by making yourself an astrology card deck. There are many ways to do this and I’m going to share with you my method of making astro cards. This is going to be my Starztober project for 2025. You can check out what I did in previous years to align with Inktober. You can also read one woman’s story about how she followed along with my art prompts and managed to win this challenge a few years ago.

Astro Card Deck

I plan to make an astro card deck during Starztober and I invite you to join me. That means that the prompts are going to be basic astrology terms to help us build our astro card deck to start with. During October, I will create thirty-one astro themed card to go in our astro card deck.

November and Beyond

This means that you can continue into November, December and well into next year, adding more cards that make sense, astrologically to you, into your card deck.

  • More on Pinktober (Arwynne’s Art Challenge)

Podcast Episodes

You can listen to our recent Starzotober 2025 podcast (see below) and also go further back to last year to see how things have changed since then.

Inktober Prompts

Each year, the official Inktober prompts are published to inspire and guide artists throughout the month. These prompts consist of a list of 31 words, each assigned to a specific day in October, providing a daily theme or idea for the artwork. Artists can choose to follow the official prompts or create their own based on personal interests or specific themes they want to explore.

Many artists and creators design their own unique prompts to align with their artistic focus or hobbies. For instance, the “Starztober” challenge is tailored for those who enjoy astrology, offering prompts related to astrological signs, celestial bodies, and other cosmic themes.

The essence of Inktober is to create artworks using ink, which is why it is called Inktober and not Paintober. The medium encourages artists to explore the versatility of ink, whether through traditional pens and brushes or modern digital inking tools.

Participants widely share their Inktober journey by posting their work and process drawings on social media platforms. This sharing not only helps them stay motivated but also connects them with a global community of artists participating in the challenge.

#Starztober

The hashtags #Inktober and #Inktober2025 (or the current year) help in finding and engaging with other artists’ work, fostering a sense of camaraderie and collective growth.

Through the discipline of daily drawing and the support of an active community, Inktober becomes more than just an art challenge; it transforms into a creative festival celebrating artistic expression and improvement.

The Inktober Challenge

Inktober is a personal challenge where the goal is to create one ink drawing every day throughout the month of October. Successfully completing Inktober means producing thirty-one drawings by the end of the month. While many people begin the challenge, not everyone manages to see it through to the end which is something I can personally attest to.

Inktober isn’t a competition against others; it’s a contest with yourself.

Thirty-one Drawings in 31 Days

The core question of Inktober is, “Can you create one new ink drawing every day for thirty-one days?” This daily commitment is the essence of the challenge.

Completing all thirty-one drawings before the month ends means you have “won” Inktober. The victory lies not just in the quantity of drawings but in the discipline, creativity, and growth you experience along the way.

Participating in Inktober pushes you to develop consistent creative habits, improve your drawing skills, and explore new ideas. Whether you follow the official prompts or create your own, the true reward is the sense of accomplishment and the impressive body of work you’ve created by month’s end.

Previous Inktober Years

In previous years, I’ve embarked on the Inktober journey but have never managed to complete it. Each attempt has been a learning experience, revealing both the challenges of maintaining daily creativity and the determination needed to see it through.

This year, I feel more prepared and confident than ever before. My artistic skills have grown, and I have developed a stronger sense of discipline. I am truly up for the challenge of Inktober this time.

Reflecting on past attempts, I see how far I’ve come as an artist. The experience has taught me the importance of persistence, creativity, and self-discipline. With these lessons in mind, I believe this year will be different. I’m excited to tackle the daily prompts, push my creative boundaries, and finally complete all thirty-one ink drawings.

This year, I am ready to meet the Inktober challenge head-on and finish strong.

My Art Blog

Over on my art blog at Alison Hazel Art I have documented my previous attempts at Inktober.

This is a space where I focus on meditative art and uplifting themes.

There was an artist who completed AHAtober and you can read her story here.

Starztober Prompts

If you prefer to follow the traditional route, you can find this year’s official Inktober prompts here. These prompts provide a structured yet flexible framework for your daily ink drawings.

However, as an aspiring artist with a passion for astrology, I’ve decided to create my own Inktober prompts this year, which I’m calling “Starztober.” Each prompt is inspired by fundamental concepts in astrology, from zodiac signs and planets to houses and aspects. This personalized approach allows me to blend my artistic endeavors with my interest in astrology.

I have an exciting plan for my Starztober drawings: I intend to use them as the foundation for a coloring book, which I aim to publish next year. This project not only motivates me to complete all thirty-one drawings but also gives my Inktober efforts a meaningful purpose beyond the challenge itself.

By integrating astrology into my Inktober experience, I hope to create a unique and engaging collection of artwork that resonates with both art enthusiasts and astrology lovers. Stay tuned as I embark on this creative journey, and look forward to the release of my coloring book next year!

Materials

You can do the classic pen-and-ink beloved of staunch Inktober and Starztober fans or move to an art medium that you are comfortable with each week.

You may use:

  • Pencil
  • Pencil crayons
  • Markers
  • Watercolours
  • Acrylics
  • Oil paints

It’s up to you.

The idea is to get productive with astro related artworks.

Drawing Inks and Supplies

I recently started working with colored inks and I plan to use this medium in my Inktober challenge this year.

The art supplies I’ll be using are:

Cover Page

Below is the inside cover page of my journal. I’ve clearly labeled it “Starzober: Inktober for Astrologers.”

This title serves as a reminder of the purpose behind this creative journey.

By dedicating this Inktober to self-care, I’m focusing on using art as a means to nurture my well-being and mental health.

In years to come, when I look back at this journal, I will instantly recall the significance of this project.

Each drawing will not only represent a step in my artistic growth but also a moment of personal reflection and self-care.

This cover page sets the tone for the entire journal, emphasizing the blend of creativity and mindfulness that defines Starztober.

Prompts Two-Page Spread

On the next full two-page spread, I’ve carefully written out the complete list of Starztober prompts. The left-hand page features the prompts for October 1st through 16th, while the right-hand page lists prompts for October 17th through 31st. This layout allows me to quickly see the day’s prompt, making it easy to get straight into drawing, no matter where I am.

Having this organized and accessible list is especially handy when I’m out and about with my Starztober journal. Whether I’m at a coffee shop, on my lunch break, or simply enjoying some downtime, I can refer to the prompts and start sketching right away.

I plan to begin these sketches early in the day, setting a positive and productive tone. By drafting outlines whenever I have a spare moment, I will get steady progress and make the most of my creative time. This approach helps me stay on track and do the daily drawing challenge of Starztober.

My Art Style and Process

For my Starzober drawings, I will follow my usual pen and ink process, which begins with a detailed pencil sketch.

This initial step helps me lay out the composition and ensure the proportions are accurate.

I also plan to include a border around each drawing, typically 1 cm (about half an inch) wide, to give each piece a framed and finished look.

Once the pencil sketch is complete, I’ll go over it with a black pen to create a clean, defined outline.

This step brings the drawing to life and sets the stage for the next phase.

Colored Inks

After inking the outline, I will add color using colored inks.

Depending on the effect I want to achieve, I may use pens for precise lines and details or a paintbrush for broader strokes and shading.

This combination of techniques allows me to explore different textures and depths, enhancing the overall visual impact of each artwork.

By following this structured process, I ensure that each Starztober drawing is carefully crafted and visually cohesive, while also allowing room for creativity and experimentation with color and form.

What to Do with The Art You Create

If you are a general astrologer, you may be asking yourself why do art? But I think if you’re in any way artistic and maybe you have a sketchbook already, then this would be an ideal art challenge for you. I do believe that creating art in this way, as a daily art practice, is a 6th House activity.

Calendar

You could choose the 12 best artworks that you create during Starztober and turn them into a calendar. You would use one image for each month of the year and so with a dozen pieces you could produce a calendar.

Colouring Book

One of my ideas with the Starztober images was to create a colouring book. This would be just the black ink lines and not coloured in. The idea would be that you would buy this colouring book and colour in these astrology themed artworks and this would be one way during Starztober and October for you to get a head start by creating 31 images to start with. Now 31 images are not enough for a colouring book, you need at least 52, but it would be a way to develop your daily art practice too. You can become more honed in, so that you actually are able to produce these images during this period.

Astro Card Deck

I’ve had an idea for many years to create an Astro card deck.

Now of course I know there are many decks out there, but as an astro astrologer it’s always been one of my ideas to do so.

And even in the past I have started with a few sketches because the actual dimensions of the images are slightly different.

Over the years I’ve probably created eight to 10 images that would work for an astro Tarot deck, but I really haven’t gone further than that.

During Starztober and October, it would be an idea to bring some focus and create a card deck that could be used later.

The main challenge with this is that you generally need 72 cards and of course, during October you’ll only create 31, but it would kickstart your astro art practice if that was something you would be interested in doing.

Wall Art.

If you go through all your thirty-one drawings that you created, you may find one that stands out head and shoulders above the rest.

The best one you drew.

This will be an ideal piece to actually get blown up and printed at a professional printer so you could hang it on your astrology consulting office wall.

Sketchbook

Even if you don’t have any desire to somehow monetize the art that you’re creating through Starztober the actual fact of working through a sketchbook is very satisfying.

Because your Starztober sketchbook for each year is an individual sketchbook wheew you’re not adding other artwork in there of bits and bobs.

It stands as a testament to what you were doing and how you were feeling about both art and astrology during any particular year.

I do look back on my previous attempts at Starztober and I do have one book from 2022 where I got quite far through this challenge.

I will admit, I didn’t finish it, but every year as we come round to this time of the year and Autumn draws in, I feel that maybe this is the year because I do enjoy art.

Perhaps you could give some thought into how you could re purpose your Starztober artworks this year.

My Starztober Strategy

My strategy for Starztober this year is designed to help me achieve several key goals:

Complete the Challenge

My primary aim is to successfully finish Inktober by completing all thirty-one drawings. This year, I’m determined to win by staying committed and consistent throughout the month.

Personal Competition

I plan to only compete with myself, focusing on personal growth and self-improvement rather than comparing my progress or artwork to others. This mindset will help me stay motivated and positive.

Daily Drawing

I will draw every day, dedicating time each day to create a new ink drawing based on the Starztober prompts. This daily practice will help me develop a strong artistic habit and improve my skills over time.

Mastering Inks

I propose to learn more about working with inks, experimenting with different techniques and tools. This exploration will expand my understanding of the medium and enhance my artistic versatility.

By following this strategy, I aim to make the most of Starztober, creating a meaningful and enriching experience that fosters both my artistic and personal development.

Extend Yourself: September

1st September is when the official Inktober and Starztober prompts are published.

This is often a highly anticipated day in the art world.

Prompts Set

Before you start you need to decide which prompts set you are going to use. This may come down to just how artistic and creative you are. Look to your 5th house for this.

Decide whether to:

  • Use the official Inktober prompts.
  • Use the official Starzology 2024 prompts.
  • Create your own Inktober prompts.

Inktober Journal Setup

It helps to have your journal in hand and to set up the pages beforehand.

You will need 31 pages for the actual artworks, but you can also use some pages at the front for a cover page and the full prompts list.

In your Starztober 2024 journal please do the following:

  • On the first cover page write your name.
  • Write the year.
  • On the second double-page spread write the Starztober prompts list.
  • Get your art supplies to hand and be ready to start.

Share

If you are comfortable, share your artworks with the hashtags #inktober or with my two hashtags for this year #starztober and #starztober24.

Extend Yourself Further: October

October

As October unfolds, we dive into the heart of the challenge. With all your art supplies ready and your sketchbook prepared for success, it’s time to bring your creativity to life through your artworks.

  • Start by drawing your first sketch based on the October 1st prompt.
  • Each day thereafter, continue sketching according to the daily prompts.
  • Allow your creativity to flow and your skills to grow with each artwork.

Extend Yourself Even Further: November…

November and Beyond

If you find yourself falling behind, don’t be discouraged.

Simply pick up where you left off and keep moving forward.

Even if October comes to an end and you haven’t completed all thirty-one sketches, remember that the journey doesn’t have to stop there.

You can continue into November and beyond, pushing yourself to finish the challenge by the solstice on December 31st.

I’m here to support you throughout your Inktober journey.

I’ll send reminders and encouragement via email throughout October to cheer you on and keep you motivated.

Keep me updated on your progress.

I’m excited to see your artistic journey unfold!

Wines and Signs

Zodiac Pairings

Wine and the zodiac actually have a lot in common. Both have elements that change over time and have seasons and situations in which they shine best. Each sign in the zodiac wheel compliments the others in a specific way, just as wines compliment different foods. There are already so many resources out there about how to pair food and wine. Today I’m going to do something a little different and tell you which wine compliments your zodiac sign and why.

Fire Signs

Aries and Petite Sirah

Petite Sirah Profile

Style: Full Body, Dry, High Tannin, High Alcohol
Flavors:  Sugar Plum, Blueberry, Dark Chocolate, Black Pepper, Black Tea

Though it’s a common California wine, Petite Sirah comes from a French grape called “Peloursin”. This is a rare grape, with a very flavorful profile. This wine is popular for its bold, fruity flavors which contrast its dark red color.

Aries Traits

March 21 – April 19 | The Ram

Strength: Bold, Honest, Determined, Confident
Weakness: Aggressive, Impulsive, Moody, Impatient

Aries is the first sign in the zodiac wheel. It falls under the Fire element. As the first sign, Aries is open to new opportunities. They move through life knowing that they’re leading the way for a new adventure, even if their adventures are short lived. As a fire sign, Aries tend to have bold emotions at all times. It is not unlike an Aries to show some tough love. To an Aries it means they are doing right by you. This blunt honesty is what makes them a loyal friend and lover.

Petit Sirah Pairing

Petite Sirah is full of aggressive sweet and bitter notes. Similar to Aries, who are bold in their own right, giving you a refreshing solution to a problem. Within all its powerful flavors, Petite Sirah is good for your health. The bitterness is an effect of the high level of tannins in this kind of wine. Like an Aries’ brutal honesty can leave a sour taste in your mouth, so can a Petite Sirah. Among its sweet notes of blueberries and sugar plums,  Petite Sirahs have the bitterness of dark chocolate and black pepper to spice things up. Life is never boring with an Aries, this flavorful wine pairing will not disappoint.

Leo and Champagne

Champagne Profile

Style: Light Body, High Acidity, Intensely Dry
Flavors: Citrus, Peach, White Cherry, Almond, Toasty

Champagne comes in a variety of brut, dry, and sweet bodies with deep flavors that pair great with seafood or crunchy appetizers. You know Champagne as the world’s go-to bubbly used to celebrate special occasions like weddings, holidays, and Friday nights.

Leo Traits

July 23 – August 22 | The Lion
Strength: Ambitious, Loyal, Generous, Enthusiastic, Leader
Weakness: Egoistic, Lazy, Stubborn, Arrogant

Out of all the Fire signs, Leos yearns most to make an impression. In fact, it’s their number one priority. Their personality is powerful and attractive making them hard to miss. As far as love languages go, this Fire sign is most fluent in Words of Affirmation. As much as they receive compliments, they’ll give them right back to you. Leo’s warm heart and eagerness to do well in everything they set out to do is what makes up their magnetic confidence and loyalty. However, if Leos are mistreated, they won’t hesitate to move on from what is making them unhappy.

Champagne Pairing

A Leo’s loyalty is unmatched so long as it’s reciprocated. They know what they deserve and will not budge. Fire signs need the proper attention to feel someone is worth the affection they are giving. When you don’t fulfill the needs of a Leo, their confidence dwindles. Just like a Champagne left unattended, that can’t help but go flat. Both Champagne and Leos can be dry or sweet depending on their style. Regardless of the details, there is no better pair to celebrate with than Leos and Champagne.

Sagittarius and Malbec

Malbec Notes

Style: Full Body, Dry, Low Acidity, Low Tannin, High Alcohol
Flavors: Red Plum, Blackberry, Vanilla, Tobacco, Cocoa

Like many other wines, Malbec originated in France. However, most vineyards that produce this wine are in Argentina. Malbec has a deep and sweet full body bound to leave you wanting more. It’s cocoa and vanilla tones give this red wine a smooth finish every time.

Sagittarius Traits

November 22 – December 21 | The Archer
Strength: Idealistic, Adventurous, Persistent, Optimistic, Romantic
Weakness: Competitive, Impulsive, Impatient, Overachiever, Blunt

Sagittarians are the social butterflies among the zodiac. They are known to be very positive and outgoing. They are always up for sharing information with others. As the Archer, they seek out as much knowledge as they can find. A Sagittarian’s curiosity is limitless especially regarding love, philosophy, and religion. They yearn to be free, therefore knowledge and adventure is what they pursue most. This can make them a bit stubborn, as they hate being told the can’t do something.

Malbec Pairing

Malbec is a fun and strong wine with strong notes of oak and black fruits. As the last of the Fire signs, Sagittarians can be as aggressive in their passion as they are in their truth-seeking. Unlike other wines, a Malbec’s finish does not last, and the same can be said with the adventures of a Sagittarius. Just like Aries, Sagittarians are very good at starting new ventures but are not the best as finishing them. Without looking back at how their last one ended, they’ll embark on a new one.

Earth Signs

Taurus and Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon Profile

Style: Full Body, Dry, High Tannin, High Alcohol
Flavors: Black Cherry, Black Currant, Baking Spices, Cedar

Cabernet Sauvignon is among the safest choices when selecting a red wine. It has a strong full body with a balance of fruits and spices. This California wine is easy to pair with a variety of unexpected foods. Sure, red meat is an obvious pairing, but get yourself some dark chocolate with this wine, and you’ll be dreaming about it later.

Taurus Traits

April 20 – May 20 | The Bull
Strength: Loyal, Dependable, Patient, Grounded
Weakness: Possessive, Aggressive, Uncompromising

Earth signs tend to do things to get rewarded. Taurus is no exception. People who fall under this sign will work hard for the benefits they earn. Along with their work ethic, a Taurus is dependable knowing that they will earn respect and other prizes. However, they know it’s a two-way street and remain aware that their work is ongoing. This is where their patience comes in. As hopeless of a romantic as they can be, a Taurus is always on the defense. You must first earn their trust before they feel safe giving you theirs in return.

Cabernet Sauvignon Pairing

Cabernet Sauvignon is a sensual red wine that you learn to love and trust – not unlike a Taurus. The sensual undertones of the wine’s flavor evoke black fruits and spices. These undertones are found in Taurians too, they’re one of the most sensual signs on the wheel. Both the sign and wine have a range of earthy flavors with a strong body, and dry style.

Virgo and Chardonnay

Chardonnay Notes

Style: Full Body, Dry, Medium Acidity, High Alcohol, Little to No Tanning
Flavors: Yellow Apple, Starfruit, Pineapple, Vanilla, Butter

Chardonnay was originally harvested in large quantities in the Burgundy region of France. The variety of flavors a Chardonnay offers is not limited to the list above. When fermented and aged in oak, it develops spicy, almost bourbon-like notes, making it the rich white wine we love.

Virgo Traits

August 23 – September 22 | The Maiden
Strength: Strong, Hardworking, Observant, Analytical, Sophisticated
Weakness: Intense, Dominating, Perfectionist, Shy

Virgos have a very practical way of making their plans. Like Taurus, this Earth sign doesn’t mind putting in the work, as they realize how the little things can add up to the big picture. Virgos are known to be the most sophisticated on the zodiac wheel. Both their work and honest advice are delivered clearly so that you won’t misunderstand what they mean. It is their graceful advice and willingness to help that make Virgos great friends.

Chardonnay Pairing

It takes a lot of dedication to make Chardonnay the elegant wine it is, much like the dedication Virgos put into their own craft. Virgos are sophisticated in the way they talk, work, and carry themselves. Some call it perfectionism, Virgos call it attention to detail. Virgos are loved for their ability to compliment all the other signs just as Chardonnays are loved for their versatility in food pairing.

Capricorn and Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc Profile

Style: Light Body, Dry, Low Alcohol, Low Tannin, High Acidity
Flavors: Gooseberry, Honeydew Melon, Grapefruit, White Peach, Passion Fruit

It’s hard to confuse Sauvignon Blanc with other white wines (like Chardonnay). When compared, you’ll note Sauvignon Blanc is full of acidity and herbal flavors. This rich white wine is widely produced as the grape can be grown almost anywhere. The result, Sauvignon Blanc comes in a variety of ranges – from lean to bountiful.

Capricorn Traits

December 22 – January 19 | The Goat
Strength: Responsible, Disciplined, Ambitious, Practical

Weakness:Inability to be Wrong, Pessimistic, Unforgiving

Capricorns will tell you they are the “Greatest Of All Time” or these days, G.O.A.T. This earth sign is a determined sign which doesn’t need to be asked to do what they know needs to be done. Along with their practical sense of duty, they always strive for success. Yet they are fully aware that their success will take time. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day. That’s an Earth sign for you.

Sauvignon Blanc Compatibility

Capricorns are dry with their emotions, much like Sauvignon Blanc. This is due to a Capricorn’s view of the world and their diligent traits. Sauvignon Blanc is one-part fruits and one-part earthy notes matching Capricorn’s element perfectly.

Air Signs

Gemini and Bordeaux Blend

Bordeaux Blend Profile

Style: Full Body, High Tannin, High Alcohol, Medium Acidity, Dry
Flavors: Black Currant, Black Cherry, Graphite, Chocolate, Dried Herbs

A Bordeaux Blend is made up of grapes used for red wines like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, in addition to other grapes harvested within the same region of France. The uses of multiple grapes make this wine a sweet, dark, red blend with high tannins and a strong body. Perfect for red meat pairings with very little seasoning.

Gemini Traits

May 21 – June 20 | The Twins
Strength: Intellectual, Versatile, Social, Cheerful
Weakness: Gossipy, Indecisive, Superficial, Anxious

Gemini is one of the signs that tends to earn a bad reputation. They have a two-faced stigma as their personality is ever changing. The reality is that Geminis are too smart for their own good. They can adapt to any environment they are in, and behave accordingly. Air elements will demonstrate an ease of going with the flow, and Gemini is no exception. Geminis also love to talk your ear off, but it’s hard to not enjoy a Gemini’s company. Their charm is contagious, and it’s almost impossible not to learn from them.

Bordeaux Blend Compatibility

Can you blame me for picking out a Blend for the Twins? Much like Bordeaux Blend is mixed to balance well, Geminis have their own mix. It should be said that as versatile as Geminis come, you never really know which Gemini you’ll get. Just as you never know which grapes are within the Bordeaux Blend you choose. Though the flavor of the wine varies in strengths (either sweet or citrusy), the wine stays true to its notes. As do Geminis to themselves.

Libra and Moscato

Moscato Profile

Style: Light Body, Low Alcohol, Sweet, Low Acidity
Flavors: Meyer Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Pear, Orange Blossom, Honeysuckle

Moscatos are among the sweet white wines with fruity notes. Unlike the majority of the wines mentioned, Moscato is an Italian wine made with the Muscat Grape. There are different Moscato styles which include Bubbly, Still, Pink, Red, or Dessert Moscato. This wine can be made into several styles depending on which Muscat grape is used, and how.

Libra Traits

September 23 – October 21 | The Scales
Strength: Fair, Charming, Diplomatic, Easy Going, Imaginative
Weakness: Indecisive, Bad Temper, People Pleasers, Overthinker

Libras are towards the center of the zodiac wheel, and you can see a noticeable change in the signs that follow. The first six signs of the zodiac focus more on their individual needs. While the signs that follow Libras care more about their impact on others. As the Scales, Libras constantly analyze if should they be kinder or harsher depending on how others treat them. This constant mental back and forth is what feeds their indecisiveness.

Moscato Pairing

Libras and Moscatos always leave a good impression. A Moscato wine is sweet and aromatic, while balanced with acidity and a mineral finish. Libras are all about finding and providing balance. Be it in work or relationships, they find comfort in harmony. Libras don’t care to change for most people. To do so, would tip the balance scale and would be unfair to their own desires. Though a Muscat grape can fit into any type of Moscato, the wine will always stay true to its flavor and body, no matter the color.

Aquarius and Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir Profile

Style: Light Body, Dry, High Acidity, Low Tannins
Flavors: Cherry, Raspberry, Hibiscus, Mushroom, Vanilla

Pinot Noir is among the world’s favorite red wines. A bottle of light-red wine can be aged for up to 10 years, sometimes more. The aging process enriches the flavors making it all the more satisfying in color and taste.

Aquarius Traits

January 20 – February 18 | The Water Bearer

Strength: Humanitarian, Intelligent, Independent, Loyal, Visionaries
Weakness: Detached, Extremist, Aloof, Stubborn, Unpredictable

An Aquarius showers us with their knowledge and ideas, as a Water Bearer showers people with their gift of water. This Air sign is all about making humanity great. They look to encourage others to do better because they see the world as a clock that runs on many gears. If one piece fails, the clock doesn’t work. They apply this philosophy to themselves as well – always trying to improve on their weaknesses.

Pinot Noir Pairing

Both Aquarians and Pinot Noir are dry, yet smooth. A Pinot Noir wine’s finish is smooth though its body is light with high acidity. In comparison, Aquarians are not ones to lead with emotions. They can be dry in their efforts to communicate how they feel. They believe their actions will speak for themselves. Just as an Aquarius is progressive, Pinot Noir is one of those wines that increase in finesse with age.

Water Signs

Cancer and Riesling

Riesling Profile

Style: Light Body, Little Tannins, High Acidity, Off-Dry, Low Alcohol
Flavors: Lime, Green Apple, Beeswax, Jasmine, Petrol

Rieslings are an aromatic white wine that was first produced in Germany, making it stand out from the French and California wine crowds. It was turned into a classic table wine for its ability to pair well with savory and sweet foods.

Cancer Traits

June 21 – July 22 | The Crab
Strength: Kind, Creative, Family Oriented, Tough
Weakness: Hot-Headed, Immature, Moody, Overthinkers, Emotional

Cancer signs are deeply empathetic, as all water signs are. Cancers are driven by their nurturing needs and seek to have a family when all is said and done. Though they wear their hearts on their sleeve, Cancers aren’t weak. As the Crab, Cancers have a tough exterior and will be strong when they need to be, especially to protect their loved ones.

Riesling Pairing

There’s a sense of moodiness to both Cancers and Rieslings. While Cancers have a sweet demeanor, their temper is strong. Cancers are quick to react based on their emotions. Rieslings, too have plenty of strength. They can range from tasting really sweet to bone dry. The sweetness of a Riesling is controlled during the fermentation process. It’s not so much up to the grape’s nature as it is on the maker’s influence. Like a Cancer’s empathetic nature, which has a tendency of getting away from them.

Scorpio and Merlot

Merlot Profile

Style: Full Body, Extra Dry, High Tannin, Medium Acidity, High Alcohol
Flavors: Cherry, Plum, Chocolate, Bay Leaf, Vanilla

Merlot is one of those wines that stand out in the crowd. It has vibrant black cherry flavors and great depth. Due to its complimenting flavors and chocolatey finish, Merlot is a wine can mix well with other full body wines, like Cabernet Sauvignon.

Scorpio Traits

October 22 – November 21 | The Scorpion
Positive: Loyal, Passionate, Determined, Intuitive, Empathetic
Negative: Secretive, Intense, Emotional, Jealous, Flirtatious

Scorpios are one of the other signs that get a bad reputation. If you ask around, people will tell you that Scorpios are the most intense, but this is due to their passion. They hate small talk, for example, and would much rather just get to the point. A Scorpio’s keen sense of intuition is what helps them know if a person is lying, or being shady. They also know who is good and will be fiercely loyal with whom they trust. Break that trust, however, and it’s game over for whoever wronged them.

Merlot Pairing

A Merlot starts bitter (or intense, if you will) with sweet tones to finish it off. If you don’t pay attention, you’ll miss it the uniqueness of this full body wine. We can learn to appreciate a Scorpio, in the same way we appreciate a Merlot. Scorpio’s sweetness comes through in their passion and loyalty. To a Water sign like Scorpio, loyalty means never revealing secrets. This type of loyalty, along with their protective nature, is what makes them irreplaceable in friendships and love.

Pisces and Rosé

Rosé Notes

Style: Light Body, Dry, Low Tannin
Common Flavors: Lime, Cherry, Watermelon, Strawberry, Celery, Pepper

Rosé is a wine that does not come from a specific grape. Instead, it can be made from a variety of grapes that are used to make fuller bodied wines. Grapes found in Rosé include, but are not limited to, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Sangiovese, and Grenaché. Contrary to popular belief, Rosé does not come from mixing wines. And though doing so is prohibited in many places, the region of Champagne, France is not one of them. Ergo, the Rosé Champagne we all know and love.

Pisces Traits

February 19 – March 20 | The Fish
Strength: Artistic, Compassionate, Intuitive, Gentle
Weakness: Fearful, Too Trusting, Head in the Clouds, Play the Victim

Pisces is both the last Water sign of the bunch and the last sign in the zodiac wheel. Perhaps this order is what makes up Pisces traits, as they encompass a little from all the signs. Though Pisces like to keep to themselves, there’s no denying they are focused, selfless, and easy going. After all, they are the Fish of the wheel, so they just keep swimming. Like their Water sign companions, they are very empathetic and protective of their hearts. Their eagerness to make others happy can be taken advantage of. Knowing this, they will be kind, but never a pushover. They can tell people’s bad intentions from miles away.

Rosé Pairing

Just like a Rosé can be composed of a variety of grapes that come from other wines, a Pisces is shaped like their zodiac family. When hanging out with a Pisces, it’s never dull. Like with any Rosé you choose, it is always a fun and unique experience.

Symbols and Meaning in Art

“I saw an angel in the marble, then carved and carved to set her free.” Michelangelo

Allow me to share with you my experiences as an artist and an astrologer. I have been combining astrology and art for many years. Now I am happy to have found RedBubble to showcase my original art pieces for you.

The world has moved on, and in the digital creation arena is where I feel compelled to express myself. From my creator studio in downtown Vancouver, I enjoy expressing myself via the colourful creations I produce.

Symbolic Language

The language of astrology is created through the symbols and glyphs that are used in astrology charts. These complex shapes and sigils, when skillfully combined, will make sentences which ultimately tell a story.

Your personal astrology chart, and the symbols and patterns they contain, can help you explore the deeper meaning of your life through the symbolic language of astrology.

When the symbols are in your chart, it will be the story of your life. This is exciting isn’t it?

These symbols, or glyphs, convey meaning more than the actual shape. Glyphs have inherent properties that can be used to elevate your understanding of your life, and the world around you.

In your chart the synergy effect is present. Now one plus one equals three, or the sum of the whole is greater than the parts. Powerful.

I use traditional astrological glyphs in my artistic designs to bring them into mainstream consciousness for everyone.

Night Sky Dreams Pattern

We are but a small part of the huge universe. Many galaxies, stars and planets bring the positive energy of the universe to life. This is where life is lived to the full.

The vast dark space between the stars is the negative energy. Between the two opposites of light and dark, or positive and negative, the universal energy is in balance and mathematically adds up to zero.

My new “Night Sky Dreams” pattern is a piece that combines the sign symbols with other well-loved icons of the sky.

The deep purple background symbolizes the night, and the negative, as it contrasts sharply with the brilliant white light of life as shown by the stars.

I avoided black to accent this piece by choice. I interpret purple as a secondary colour that is both rich and mysterious, without the connotation of a darker side of life which a midnight black shade implies.

My Starz

As an astrologer and artist I love what I do. For those of you who have supported me in the past thank you, and if you have just discover my creations, then welcome.

Make Your Own Astrology Wheel of Fortune

Make Your Own Astrology Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune

Designing the Wheel of Fortune

I used to teach a class about the real basics of astrology. This was a class for beginners with not even a whiff of technicality.

I decided to create a visual aid to learning astrology that the students could make themselves and get to keep. I happiliy called it my “Wheel of Fortune.”

This diagram was inspired by the birth chart and has the twelve signs on it.

Template Creation for my Wheel of Fortune

I created a template for one sign that fits on a letter size piece of paper which can be printed out. The student printed out 12 pages and started to color in and make notes on their Wheels of Fortune.

The beauty of this is that everyone had a similar wheel, but each one was unique.

This wheel is made up of twelve “slices” just like the slices of a pizza. Each slice is 30° wide and therefore is exactly one zodiac sign.

How to Construct Your Wheel

  • Print 12 sheets, so that’s one page for each sign.
  • Add your own keywords and notes to each sign.
  • Colour in as much as you like.
  • Cut the slice out leaving the tab on.
  • Carefully layout all the signs in the right order.

      Zodiac Signs in Order

The signs in order anticlockwise are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

      • Tape the slices lightly at the front with small pieces of masking tape just to hold it.
      • Turn it over and magic tape the slices together.

Note: Take your time as the slices can be tricky.

        • When completed glue the whole wheel onto a sheet of cardboard or Bristol board for support.
        • Cut with scissors and trim to 5mm to the edge of the circle.

          Hang Your Wheel of Fortune

Hang the finished astrology wheel by a centre pin so that it can rotate, because you read each sign when it is at the bottom and the signs can be read from all around.

How to Use the Wheel of Fortune

You should place your wheel on the wall near your desk and where you do your astrology work. In this way, it becomes as inspiration and a memory jogger for when you forget things.

Remember to send me a photo of your completed wheel and I will publish it on this post later. There is no time limit. Enjoy being creative and learning at the same time.

          Keywords to Use

Many astrology keywords are well known and you should add these to your wheel.

When you discover a new word to describe the signs you can add them to your wheel. This is how you interpret astrology and not how I do, or the next guy does.

Be your own astrologer and develop the art so that it speaks to you.

Why stray from the true and tested keywords? Because we want to hear your voice coming through in your interpretations.

If you ask ten artists to paint a picture of an apple they will all produce a painting that represents an apple. Maybe Picasso’s apple is a bit odd but it is still an apple how he sees it.

It is the same with astrology. Every astrologer can read a chart, but each one brings their own flair to the reading. Your own words are important and this is why you need to develop your own words as well.

How we Learn as Things Change

Back in the day I was taught that the eighth house was to do with death. But I prefer to read it as a transformation either of the mind, body or the finances.

Now, blood donors and blood donations (other people’s resources) are shown in your eighth house.

Greek astrologers or even those in the last century may not have experienced blood donors (or had the ability to benefit from blood donation) but we have this today.

It’s the same with Instagram and Facebook being in the eleventh house. Social media and being “friends” with others is an eleventh house thing. But ten years ago FB was unknown.

Always Interpret in Your Own Words

Yes, you need to use the usual keywords to start with as you learn astrology. It is the language of astrology. But as you develop your own astrological voice I urge to use your own words. This may take a while but I encourage you to take ownership of the astrology you do.

If you want a cookie-cutter reading you can go to the internet and find a free site that prints preprinted pages of interpretations.

But, if you want to be a good astrologer you need to do your own thing. Your own thing comes from the internal dynamics of your own chart.

Be yourself. Don’t be just a human computer churning out information with no discernment for the value of what you produce, rather be yourself.
