Summertime and the Living is Easy – Sun in Leo

Summertime and the Living is Easy – Sun in Leo

by Alison Price

Life Comes in Cycles

One of the more obvious cycles is the seasonal changes you experience as the Sun moves through the zodiac when it enters a cardinal sign every three months.

This is the start of the four seasons.

The Zodiac Year

The year begins as the Sun enters the first sign of Aries and spring officially begins. Summer starts as the Sun enters Cancer around July 21st. Autumn is ushered in late September and winter draws in from December 21st at the Sun’s ingress to Capricorn.

Midsummer – Sun in Leo – What to expect

Here we are in the early degrees of Leo. It is just about mid-summer. But what can we expect?

That depends on whether you have a strong Leo presence in your chart from planets or your Ascendant or your Midheaven is placed in the sign.

Or, if you have a chart where there is no Leo influence at all and you have zero planets or angles in the sign of the Lion.

If you do have a natal Leo influence

As the Sun moves through its own sign it will connect with any planets or chart points in Leo.

This will stimulate that planet or point and you will become aware of creative potentials as suggested by the strength of the contact,

Having Leo planets already in your natal chart will be reinforced as the Sun comes through. Things can become over-the-top but to express your individuality is key this month.

If you do not have a natal Leo influence

When the Sun transits Leo, and if you have no Leo signature in your chart, it becomes an opportunity for you to experience your inner child and express yourself in ways in which you would not normally.

Yes, at times it can get dramatic and loud but it can also be a lot of fun.

Summer is always good to kick back, relax and when you can be the star in your own life production.

It is a great time for a vacation or at least relaxing at home lying barefoot in a hammock.

Everyone

Enjoy the simple pleasures of sunbathing, sun-downers (drinks at sunset) and sunbeams playing in your windows. Be kind to yourself. Soak it up and make the most of the Sun in Leo.

You can’t keep up a punishing work pace all year. Even the tireless practitioners amongst you need a break from your grueling schedule of clients, preparations, and research.

Don’t be too hard on yourself.

You can’t be going at full tilt all year.

Going forward into Virgo

Face September with renewed enthusiasm and bring your relaxed and refreshed self to your business and clients.

Your Quiet Month – Sun Transits Twelfth House or Less is More

Your Quiet Month – Sun Transits Twelfth House or Less is More

by Alison Price

There are a few weeks when the Sun and the inner planets, Mercury and Venus, pass through and transit the twelfth house of your chart.

This is a time of the year to slow down, rest and take a pause from life. It is a period of about one month when:

  • your energy and drive becomes less prominent (the Sun),
  • your reading, thinking and conversation turns inward (Mercury) and
  • personal relationships, your social life and romance become less active (Venus).

In a way it is like having a dimmer switch on your life which reduces the glare and allows your eyes to adjust to the darker world where you can see what is lingering in the shadows that you have been ignoring up until now.

You will once again be back in the spotlight when the Sun crosses your ascendant and announces your personal New Year.

For you to be able to step onto the stage of life with vibrancy and confidence (which comes from the Sun) you are required to rest up, recuperate and chill as the planets move through the twelfth house of your natal chart.

Every year is different

Each one of you will have a different “quiet month” depending on which other planets are passing through your twelfth house at the same time.

It also changes tempo depending on whether the Sun leads the charge through your twelfth house or Mercury or Venus gets there first.

Born on the cusp? Don’t know your sign? I can help.

Born on the cusp? Don’t know your sign? I can help.

by Alison Price

Were you born on a cusp and want to know your Sun sign?

Read on…

Each year the Sun moves through twelve signs of the zodiac. As it changes signs it creates twelve cusp days each year.

A cusp day is one of the twelve days each year when the Sun changes sign from, say, Virgo to Libra or Taurus to Gemini. If your birthday falls on one of these cusp days you could be either sign.

Remember the Sun does not change sign neatly at midnight, it can enter a new sign at any time during the day. This is what makes it tricky. Thank goodness for astrologers!

So, are you a Virgo or a Libra? Or do you think you have a bit of both signs? I don’t  think so. You are either one or the other, not both.

How do you know which sign your Sun is in? Simple, ask me. Don’t live under the wrong sign one minute longer!

What you Do

In the email below write your name, time of birth, date of birth and place of birth.

I used to offer this as a free service but I have been inundated with requests from cusp people so now there is a token amount due of $1 before you email me.

What I Do

I will calculate your Sun’s position and tell you which sign you are.

Usually I do it straight away so you don’t have to wait, but if I’m having a nap I’ll do it as soon as I can.

I’m glad to help you.

How to Interpret a Retrograde Sun

How to Interpret a Retrograde Sun

by Alison Price

Everything you wanted to know about a retrograde Sun but were too afraid to ask

There really are only two responses to the title of this piece. Ok, maybe more than two, but the essence of each will be the same as they are just variations on a theme.

The first response is “I have to learn about this new feature in astrology” and the second reaction is “What’s she banging on about now?”

Part 1: If you don’t know about retrograde Suns

Read this part if you have a retrograde Sun in your chart, if it is in a member of your family’s nativity, it has cropped up in a friend’s horoscope or if you wish to learn how to interpret one.

  • Decide if it is a daytime or nighttime birth
  • Check for converse progressions
  • Realize that astrology has many confusing details
  • Calculate the chart with Regiomontanus house cusps
  • Book in for the class “Astronomy for Astrologers”
  • Make sure to discuss this interesting phenomena at you next astrology meeting

Part 2: If you do know all about retrograde Suns

Read this part if you know about retrograde Suns or if you have come across them before. Here are some thoughts on how to proceed.

  • A little knowledge is a dangerous thing
  • Choose your mentors wisely
  • Always be on the lookout for a sense of humor
  • Know that not all those reading this have your powers
  • Get behind the “All practitioners must get certified” regime
  • Go outside, stand in the Sun and smile

Remember everyone sees the world through the lens of their own chart. What one person sees is often different to how you view things.

Who is correct?

Sometimes it is not easy to tell.

Let astrology inspire you.

Sun Square Jupiter + Disposed by Mercury = Bragging Rights

Sun Square Jupiter + Disposed by Mercury = Bragging Rights

The Sun makes a square aspect to Jupiter twice a year.

The Sun as the faster moving of the two planets and is applying a square to Jupiter until the exact aspect, which forms on September 7th from then on it, will be a separating square. The applying period is felt more than the separating time.

A square aspect is ninety degrees with an orb of eight degrees coming and going. As the Sun moves at almost one degree a day this particular aspect will be in effect for sixteen days or just over two weeks. This one is the opening square.

Mercury owns this square.

With the Sun in Virgo and Jupiter in Gemini Mercury who rules both signs disposes them both. It is always valuable to consider the dispositors of the planets in any aspect as they may indicate which planet is the stronger of the two. In this aspect Mercury is conjunct the Sun reinforcing the Virgo part of this square.

What to expect.

We can expect to see individual aggrandizement and larger than life stories like “The one that got away” whether it was a fish, a job or a date.

If you are giving a presentation this Sun square Jupiter will aid you as it supports honest promotion.

You may want to tell all now and if you do you may not consider how the consequences of the truth you have to say may impact on your life. Be aware that you may be called to justify yourself. Things may later be seen as blatant lies and exaggeration.

This square can indicate a time where personal expression is over the top and excessive ego is visible. Watch out for behaving in a boasting way or hogging the conversation as both planets are in Mercury ruled signs. In the cold light of the day you may wish you had had more tact.

It will be tempting to take on more than you can deliver. Accepting projects with unrealistic deadlines will likely come back to haunt you later.

You (Sun) will be judged (Jupiter) in the aftermath of this square. Make sure your personal bluster does not let you down.

Children may be especially boisterous now and will want to get outside to run it off.
