3rd Full Moon 13° Cancer
This lunation brings emotions to the surface and reminds us to care for what truly matters.

“Make do and mend” fits perfectly with this earthy lunation, reminding you that small, consistent efforts now can lead to lasting rewards later.
20th Sun enters Aquarius
The life-giving Sun enters its opposite sign of Aquarius. This is not a favorable placement for the Sun.

January 2025 Background Energy
Broad Strokes
I always like to get a feel for the month by looking the background energy. This is typically shown through all the planetary positions by sign and their polarity, element and mode emphasis.
As each month develops planets move and create the background energy modifications that I’m talking about here. For my background energy count I only consider 10 planets which are the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron. I ignore the Moon. This is not an exact science, but what in astrology is?
1st January 2026
Polarity
By 1st of January the polarity emphasis is active over passive. A strong active polarity shows that more actions will be taken, and initiatives will begin.
Element
During January, and at the start of the year, the element emphasis is not clearly defined although Fire is still ahead of the others by a whisker.
Remember for an element to be emphasised it must have two more planets than the next best element and by the end of December there is no clear winner element wise.
Mode
On 1st of January the mode emphasis is cardinal. Cardinal has five planets which is two more than the next best which is fixed. Strong cardinal indicate that things will start up again as people get moving on their projects.
1st February 2026
Polarity
By February 1st the Active polarity is a whopping seven planets and passive polarity is reduced to only two planets.
Element
The elemental shift by the end of the month is strongly Air with half the planets now in Air.
Mode
The mode shift is towards Fixed with six planets from Cardinal at the start of the month.
Overall
This results in an emphasis on Fixed Air which equates to the sign of Aquarius. Which is great as sometimes as you know the emphasis when broken down does not relate to the main sign, but in January it does.
Goddess of the Month
Seshat – Egyptian
Seshat was the ancient Egyptian goddess of writing, wisdom, knowledge, and record-keeping. Her name means “female scribe,” and she was considered the patroness of architects, mathematicians, astronomers, and librarians.
She was credited with inventing writing and was often depicted with a headdress that included a seven-pointed star and downturned horns, as well as a leopard skin and a notched palm rib to represent time.
