February 2025

This month sees the Sun, Mercury and Venus entering Pisces and Saturn entering Aries.

Direction

Uranus stations direct.

Mercury begins its first retrograde period for the year.

Lunations and Eclipses

Early in the month there is a Full Moon.

The first solar eclipse for the year occurs in February and this is the first of two eclipses in the new eclipse season.

Solar Cycle

The Sun continues to reduce in declination as it moves northwards from the solstice turning point towards the equator.

In the Wheel of the Year is the festival of Imbolc.

3rd Full Moon in Leo

The Moon is ambivalent in Leo. At the Full Moon at 13° Leo, you can explore your feelings clearly, if briefly. Always pay attention to your gut reactions at the Full Moon as they reflect are your true responses coming out which are likely to be somewhat dramatic this month.

4th Imbolc

When the Sun gets to 15° Aquarius it is officially Imbolc. Imbolc is a festival on the Wheel-of-the-Year and it marks the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. It’s a time of quiet renewal when the first signs of life stir beneath the surface. Traditionally linked to the Celtic goddess Brigid, Imbolc honors inspiration, creativity and purification. Many people light candles or fires to welcome the returning Sun and bless the months ahead. It’s a perfect time to clear out the old, set new intentions and prepare for growth. Imbolc reminds us that even in the coldest season, hope is rising and new beginnings are already taking root.

4th Uranus Stations Direct

When Uranus stations direct at 27° Taurus, sudden insights and breakthroughs begin to flow. After months of inner reflection, its forward motion brings change, innovation, and freedom. This shift can shake up routines and spark bold ideas. Embrace flexibility and trust new directions as the energy of awakening moves outward once again.

6th Mercury enters Pisces

Messages can be confusing so be as clear as possible as Mercury enters Pisces. Misunderstanding may plague your days. Avoid making pronunciations that are wide reaching. You do not have all the facts clear yet. Deals that seem certain may drift apart or collapse. A picture is worth a thousand words now.

This month’s solar eclipse at 28°50′ Aquarius brings fresh insights, bold ideas and a call to embrace individuality. This eclipse energy encourages breaking free from convention and aligning with your authentic vision for the future, both personally and within your community.

18th The Sun enters Pisces

As the Sun begins to illuminate Pisces, there is an urge towards sacrifice and doing things to help others. Most Fish will be happy and contented for the next four weeks. Everyone will warm towards art and music as entertainment. Practice meditation and inner work.

20th Saturn Conjoined Neptune

Saturn conjoins Neptune once more.

26th Mercury Stations Retrograde

Mercury Stations Retrograde at 22° Pisces. If you are born on the 12th, 13th and 14th of March you will find Mercury aligning with your natal Sun, to become an integral part of their Solar Return profile for the upcoming twelve months.

Be prepared for potential challenges in communication, as texts and conversations may seem to take unpredictable turns. Expect disruptions in appointments and sudden changes to plans. During this period, you may feel a strong urge to revisit, return to, or replace people, situations, and belongings. It’s essential to stay adaptable and patient as Mercury’s retrograde influence in Pisces unfolds.

February 2025 Background Energy

Broad Strokes

I always like to get a feel for the month by looking the background energy.

This is typically shown through all the planetary positions by sign and their polarity, element and mode emphasis.

As each month develops planets move and create the background energy modifications that I’m talking about here.

For my background energy count I only consider 10 planets which are the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron.

I ignore the Moon.

This is not an exact science, but what in astrology is?

1st February 2026

Polarity

On February 1st the Active polarity is a whopping seven planets and passive polarity is reduced to only two planets.

Element

The elemental shift by the end of the month is strongly Air with half the planets now in Air.

Mode

The mode shift is towards Fixed with six planets from Cardinal at the start of the month.

Overall

This results in an emphasis on Fixed Air which equates to the sign of Aquarius.

Which is great as sometimes as you know the emphasis when broken down does not relate to the main sign, but in January it does.

1st March 2026

Polarity

By March 1st the polarities are once more in perfect balance with five active planets and five passive planets.

Element

The elements are balanced Fire = 3, Earth 1, Air = 2 and Water = 4.

There is no clear front runner in the elements which, if you recall, need to have two more planets than the next best element and Air is not.

Mode

The modes by the end of the month are balanced with Cardinal = 4, Fixed = 3 and Mutable = 3.

Again, in the modes there is no clear winner.

Overall

The overall energy feel for the end of February is pretty balanced.

There are no specific outliers by polarity, element, mode or sign whatsoever.
