Solar Eclipse October 2023

Solar Eclipse October 2023

2023 2nd Eclipse Season

There is a Solar Eclipse on October 14, 2023 at Libra 21°08′ at the South Node

This marks the start of the first eclipse in the second eclipse season of 2023. In two weeks, there will be a lunar eclipse.

Almost every year has two eclipse seasons, and 2023 is following this pattern. Eclipses happen when the Sun comes near (within 18 degrees) to one of the Moon’s nodes.

Solar Eclipse

Solar eclipses occur when the Sun gets close to a lunar node and the Moon aligns with the Sun. The lunar nodes are points where the paths of the Sun and the Moon intersect.

Synodic Cycles

Now, let’s talk about synodic cycles. Solar eclipses mark the beginning of a new synodic cycle between these celestial bodies.

What does this mean for you? Solar eclipses blend your needs and desires, bringing focus to what truly matters. They create opportunities for starting fresh with new projects, relationships, or activities.

To understand how this eclipse at 21 degrees Libra may impact you, take a look at your birth chart. Pay attention to which house it falls in and any connections to other planets or points. This will help you grasp its specific effects on your life.

South Node

Eclipses occurring at the south node of the Moon carry the theme of releasing and letting go. This release can involve attitudes, clutter, or beliefs that no longer serve a purpose in your life. South node eclipses offer you the opportunity to shed unnecessary baggage.

By letting go of these things, you create space for more valuable and meaningful experiences that are on their way to you. South node solar eclipses signify the importance of making room in your life for new opportunities and growth. It’s like decluttering your physical and mental space to allow new possibilities to enter.

Remember, if you hold onto the past (associated with the south node), there won’t be much room for fresh beginnings. It’s essential to choose wisely and consider not just how you manage your time but also your energy.

For instance, if you’re thinking about getting a new puppy (which is a symbol of a solar eclipse, representing new beginnings), you’ll need to clear some space in your daily routine (related to the south node). This might mean allocating time for a half-hour walk with your furry friend. In doing so, you open up space in your life for this new and joyful experience.

Solar Eclipse Aspects

Conjoined Mercury

This eclipse is closely linked to Mercury, which is quite common, as Mercury often aligns with the Sun.

The fact that Mercury is in close proximity to the eclipse degree suggests that there may be extensive discussions regarding the themes this eclipse brings to light.

Mercury’s presence in Libra indicates a tendency to be diplomatic and avoid confrontational speech. It’s important to consider all available options and maintain harmony with your partners and those close to you.

Thoughtfully selecting your words can play a strategic role in smoothly implementing new plans and avoiding resistance.

Square Pluto

The eclipse forms a square aspect with Pluto, indicating that the transformation highlighted by the eclipse might have profound and far-reaching consequences, potentially leading to a significant transformation in your life.

This impact is likely to be even more pronounced if the eclipse aligns closely with one of your planets or significant points in your birth chart.

Opposition Chiron

Additionally, the eclipse loosely opposes Chiron, indicating the possibility of encountering resistance or opposition to your intentions during this eclipse.

It’s worth noting that Chiron’s influence can sometimes make you feel vulnerable or less confident in your abilities. It may even trigger imposter syndrome, where you doubt your qualifications or worthiness when dealing with these celestial transits.

Conclusion

This solar eclipse carries the potential for significant transformation in your life.

It’s essential to observe what unfolds on the day of the eclipse, which falls on October 14th.

The impact of this eclipse is expected to last for approximately three months from the date of the eclipse itself.

Typically, there is no noticeable shift in energy until the eclipse becomes exact.

In this episode, both Arwynne and I delve into the details of the eclipse, providing valuable insights and discussions.

Solstice Turning Points

Solstice Turning Points

Gain insights on the symbolism of the Solar cycles, and focus on the solstices. Let’s explore the significance behind these celestial events and delve into the meaning they hold.

4 Cornerstones of Chart Interpretation

4 Cornerstones of Chart Interpretation

4 Cornerstones of Chart Interpretation

In this post, I’m going to share with you the four cornerstones of chart interpretations.

Chart reading is a huge subject and there are many ways to skin this cat, so today let’s zoom out for a high level look at what you need to know.

And what is important for anyone who wants to read charts.

Cornerstones

The four cornerstones are what holds things up and they can hold up your chart readings.

An example is the pyramids. They first lay the four cornerstones and make them level then they can build upon that.

Walls are built that hang from the corners.

It’s like the foundations of your house.

1 Signs

The signs of the zodiac are the gateway into chart reading.

Everyone knows their Sun sign.

As an astrologer, you need to understand the signs and one way to do this is with keywords.

Sign Keywords

There are a few main keywords for each sign.

A keyword cannot be generic like “happy” as this could relate to many signs.

It must directly relate to the sign and to no other sign.

A sign keyword is unique to that sign.

Example Sign Keywords

Fire signs keywords

Inspirational

Hot

Fiery

Active

Outgoing

Aries

Competitive

Aggressive

Dynamic

Red

Leo

Creative

Honest

Extravagant

Yellow

Sagittarius

Adventurous

Cosmopolitan

Philosophical

Blue

Your Astrology Journal

Read into your astrology books and reach for your astrology journal.

Make a page titled “Sign”.

On the next 12 pages, write each sign name at the top.

You will fill in more information later.

Choose five sign keywords for each sign. and learn them first.

Be aware of polarity, element and mode, but don’t worry too much about out this yet.

First learn the signs in which you have tenants, or planets.

So for instance, if you have the Sun in Libra, then learn that sign.

Next turn your attention to your Moon sign and learn that signs keywords.

Follow in for all the planets and learn these signs first.

2 Planets

As you start to learn the sign keywords, along with all of that you can add in some planet keywords.

Start with the Sun, the Moon and then work your way outwards from Mercury.

Get at least five planet specific keywords for each planet.

Planet keywords must not be generic and must be only relevant to that individual sign.

You can use all your astrology books as a reference but don’t quote other astrologers directly.

Book for beginners

If you are looking for a good beginner astrology book, I recommend The Contemporary Astrologer’s Handbook by Sue Tompkins.

3 Houses

For the houses there are 12 houses and each house represents a different area of life.

Houses can also contain people in your life.

Start learning the houses by your own planet in house placements.

So learn your Sun’s house keywords then your Moon’s house keywords and so on.

In this way you become more familiar with what is in your own chart first.

Then go back over and learn the rest of the house keywords.

That will be your vacant houses.

4 Aspects

Next learn the aspects.

Ptolemaic Aspects

There are five Ptolemaic aspects.

Start with the conjunction, opposition, trine, square and sextile.

In other words the major or Ptolemaic aspects.

When you have mastered the big five, go on to learn keywords for the minor aspects.

Minor Aspects

The minor aspects are the semi sextile, quincunx, semi-square and sesquiquadrate.

Aspects of Declination

Eventually you will learn keywords for the parallel and contra parallel aspects.

Lesser Used Aspects

And the quintile and biquintile. The sextile and bi-sextile and the novile and decile.

Process

You won’t know everything at once it is a process.

Lay out your astrology journal with one double page spread for each cornerstone component of sign, planet, house and aspect.

Ideally you will leave pages inbetween each cornerstone topic so you can come back and add more information later.

Personal Astrology Resource

If you create an astrology journal it can become your very own astrology resource.

As you read more and more charts you can develop your interpretation style further.

Let me know if you have any questions about this topic

And you can send your questions and thoughts to starzology@gmail.com

I hope these ideas will give you something to think about

I’d like to think these four cornerstones will help you get going with learning your wonderful craft.

Thank you for being here and spending a part of your day with me.

Until next time.

This is Alison saying bye for now.

Star of David: Major Aspect Pattern

Star of David: Major Aspect Pattern

Star of David

The Star of David is a major aspect pattern formed with six planets.

There are two grand trines and the planets from the one grand trine are sextile to the planets in the other grand trine.

This is a very rare major aspect pattern and sometimes the planets only form five of the star points which results a partial Star of David and not so important.

What to Consider

As the Star of David is made from two grand trines and six sextiles it has much of the meaning of the grand trine.

There are typically only two elements in play, fire and air or earth and water, so there is usually in one polarity either active or passive.

Interpretation of a Star of David

In this pattern the planets are spread about the chart which suggests a variety of interests and talents because of the six sextiles which indicate latent talents for the individual.

Example Chart: Partial Star of David

November 3, 2023 has a partial Star of David.

The planets in this partial Star of David are the Moon trine Mercury and Neptune, and Venus trine Uranus and Pluto.

Four sextiles between Moon and Venus, Moon and Uranus, Uranus and Neptune and Neptune and Pluto.

Ascendant

Ascendant

The Ascendant: Your Face to the World

Your ascendant is the impression you make on others.

It shows how others see you. It projects the “self” and your personality and the façade or mask you wear.

It indicates the vehicle you use to get through life.

The Ascendant fronts for you.

Other people initially see your Ascendant before they get to know you and then they see your Sun.

Ascendant

The second thing you need to learn is your Ascendant sign. This is likely to be different to your Sun sign although it could be the identical. You will only know your Ascendant sign if you cast your chart.

Your Personality

The Ascendant is a symbol of your one-to-one, face-to-face, meet-and-greet personality that you employ to socialize.

It is a vehicle you use to interact with others.

Cloak

It is your personal interface and is like a cloak you wear to ‘appear’ to others when you walk out of your front door.

Your Ascendant is your opening position and obvious agenda.

Your Ascendant is a collection of expectations you have of the world and your immediate place in it.

First Impressions

Your Ascendant reveals the first impressions you make and receive which start out as early messages about your behavior (are you good or bad, or right or wrong).

How you strive to meet the expectations of others through your actions when you were a child is indicated by your Ascendant.

Your personality is seen in your Ascendant complex, and most importantly its sign and major planetary aspects to its degree.

It is the variable means by which you negotiate your needs with others (as seen by your Moon) and formulate or build something we can identify as character (as seen by your Sun).

Your Ascendant acts as an interface between the Sun or Moon (or other parts of the chart) and the immediate world around you.

Your personality has energy.

You have a particular attitude, humor, engagement and interaction.

Ascendant Energy

The Ascendant energy is quite different from the accumulation of early behaviors (Moon) or the formation of your character (Sun).

Personality is easy to pick up on, quick to read and decipher.

You can usually see it when you first meet someone (Ascendant).

Personality traits have little to do with our true character.

They are what we show to others.

Appearance

Your appearance, and how you come across and the means you use to get through life.

Astrologically, the Ascendant is often seen as the vehicle by which we reach the Sun’s destination which is your life goal.

The Ascendant is the route to getting your needs (Moon) met in relationships and how you negotiate these personal needs in a one- to-one environment.
