Saturn in Pisces

How Saturn’s Energy in Pisces will Manifest

The two-and-a-half-year transit of Saturn through Pisces from 2023 to 2025 will affect all Pisces folks as Saturn draws close and makes a conjunction to your natal Sun.

If will also affect anyone with other planets in Pisces or those people with a Pisces Ascendant or Pisces Midheaven.

To a lesser extent this dynamic energy shift will affect people with chart points, like the North or South Node, the Vertex or the Part of Fortune, in Pisces.

Saturn Transit Position

Only as Saturn moves to within 1°, both applying and separating to your Sun, planets or chart points in Pisces will there be a focus affect for you.

In general, it is not a two-and-a-half-year effect to your natal chart.

Saturn in Pisces: Video

Watch the video below where I chat with intergrative astrologer Christine Linwood about the transit of Saturn through Pisces.

Saturn in Pisces and Your Sun Sign

Saturn Aspects to Your Sun – Time Frame

While Saturn is in Pisces it will aspect every Sun sign and this will be different depending on the aspect being formed.

Some aspects are easy, some are challenging and some are neither.

Additionally, as Saturn moves quite slowly, its influence will only come into play when Saturn gets to be within one degree of the perfection of the aspect to your Sun.

Virgo Sun signs

Will receive an opposition from Saturn to your Sun which will probably present as authority figure like your parents, your boss or the government restricting your activities somehow.

Gemini and Sagittarius Sun Signs

Gemini and Sagittarians will receive squares to their natal Sun from Saturn. Squares usually show up as internal struggles with yourself. You may be stopped in your tracks as your make judgements about how you should move forward. Use this time to carefully consider and take your time. There is no rush where Saturn is concerned.

Cancer and Scorpio Sun Signs

The two water signs of Cancer and Scorpio will receive positive energy from Saturn as it make a trine to your Sun signs.

This is likely to present as mastering something in your life.

Aries and Aquarius Sun Signs

The two adjacent signs to Pisces, Aries and Aquarius, may not see much energy either up or down as Saturn moves through Pisces because Saturn will make a semi-sextile to your Sun position.

Leo and Libra Sun Signs

For Leo and Libra, this transit will probably manifest as many adjustments having to be made as Saturn make the irritating quincunx aspect to your Sun position.

Saturn in Pisces in 2023

During 2023 Saturn will only cover the first seven degrees of Pisces. This will specifically affect people born between the 19th and the 26th of February in any given year. These people will receive a triple conjunction from Saturn to their Sun in 2023.

As Saturn retrogrades in the early part of 2023 it brings a higher concentration of its energy to certain parts of the sign and particularly the first quarter or initial seven degrees of Pisces.

Saturn in Pisces What to Expect

Relaxing Laws into Guidelines

The very nature of Pisces is to water down and dilute things like stringent laws that have been in place for years.

Saturn is the planet that rules the government and the establishment so while it is in Pisces strictures will loosen.

Saturn in Pisces for All Signs

If you know your Ascendant sign then read that sign or if not, then read your Sun sign.

Saturn in Pisces for Aries

Saturn enters your private area suggesting you may be alone more. It will be easier to live in isolation and spend your time unaccompanied with your thoughts. You would do well to go on a retreat and spend some time secluded in some way. The lure of bright lights will fade a little for you during this period.

This is the time to look inwards and spend time on self-improvement.

Saturn enters your debt and taxes area suggesting as one this is the time to get organized with your taxes. If you owe anyone, it will be come due now. If your papers are in order, you will be dealt with fairly receiving neither more nor less that what you are due.

This is the best time of your life to crush any credit card debt or pay back what you owe to others.

It may be a frugal existence for a while, but at the end of the two and a half years you will have a far better understanding of how borrowing affects many areas of your life.

Saturn in Pisces for Virgo

Saturn enters your partnership zone. This may be when you decide to tie the knot as you strive for a relationship with someone who is stable and respectable now. You may marry an older person.

If you are single, there are likely to be offers to get together which at first may seem a little dull but secure. This will be something you have to consider now.

If you are already in a meaningful relationship, you could decide to call it a day as boredom pervades your marriage. Think long and hard before throwing in the towel.

Saturn enters your work sector to bring honors, recognition and promotions if you are worthy. This is the period when you can achieve good results in your profession. The efforts of past years will be recognized and conferred upon you now. If you want to open your own business, the cosmos will support that for you now. Just make sure to build your company on sounds principles and good work ethics. This is not the time to cut corners where owning a business is concerned.

Saturn in Pisces for Scorpio

More than most now you must pace yourself or you may find your reserves depleted and still demands are being made on your purse.

Saturn is your sign ruler and where it exerts its energy will always be important for Sea Goats.

This will be a great period to learn something new. You may enjoy taking a short course or attend a few weekend conferences where you can master skills that interest you.

Additionally, your relationship with any cousins or siblings will probably take a serious tone now.

Saturn in Pisces for Aquarius

Saturn enters your money area and you can expect some restrictions on both earning and spending now.

If you have established savings and good money management plan all will be well. However, if you are living pay cheque to pay cheque that will be some hard lessons to be learned as the planet of discipline passes through your earning area.

Even if you want to contribute it is better to give one dollar than to ignore others. ‘

Shift unwanted stuff and free yourself if commitments both financial and personal that no longer serve you.

Transcript

Alison: Hi Starz. Welcome back. So today I’m here with my good friend Arwynne O’Neill, and in this episode we’re going to be discussing Saturn in Pisces. So, Arwynne, I think you have quite a little bit of information for us about this current transit.

Arwynne: I did a bit of research. Yeah. Yeah, it’s an interesting one. It’s an, yeah.

Alison: So, what can you tell us for. Saturn in Pisces.

Arwynne: Well, it, will be going, well. It, it actually did go into Pisces on March 8th, 2023. Right. And it will be there until March 24th, 2026. So that’s a good, a good three years solid right there. Solid. the last, well it was in Aquarius, obviously previous to this, and that was from December 17th, 2020. Yeah. To March 7th, 2023. So that, that, kind of gives you an interesting. It’s most of Covid, for example. all the things that have happened, are kind of characteristic of Saturn and Aquarius and we, don’t have to talk about that, but

Alison: Alrighty. Yeah. So, what is the shift how do, we think it may be expressed?

Arwynne: Well, I mean, obviously. It’s, it’s a big shift from Aquarius to Pisces. They’re very different signs. some of the sign changes tend to be, kind of a little more flowing. I think like Virgo to Libra isn’t all that jarring. Sagittarius to Capricorn is sort of a little smoother, but, but Aquarius to Pisces, that’s the jarring one.

And then, Pisces to Aries is another like very jarring kind of, kind of transit. So it’s, I think definitely, we will see. Some, some different, sort of feeling of, like, well, first of all, obviously, let’s talk about what Saturn means. Okay. What is Saturn? Saturn is about restriction.

It’s about limitation. It’s about structures. Mm-hmm. government control, tradition. Yeah.

Alison: If you, if our listeners wanted to explore something a little more, do you have any particular book that you’d like to recommend that they go to?

Arwynne: Well, obviously Liz Green’s, Saturn a New Look at an Old Devil. That’s the new look at the old sort devil, the OG. she’s definitely, it’s a classic. It’s a classic for sure. It’s a classic. Yeah. There’s probably been some written since then, but some things are classics for a reason. interesting. Yeah. Yeah.

Alison: Great.

Arwynne: Yeah. So Pisces obviously is a water sign. It’s the wateriest of the water signs. It’s  about creativity, spirituality, sort of addiction, religion, water for sure. Yes, yes. a lot of interesting things around water, sort of. Occur in, flowing and morphing. Yeah, exactly. And, and this sort of dissolving of boundaries and, and Saturn is about boundaries, so, right.

So, this, it’s an interesting clash Yes. Of meanings. So, Saturn’s trying to make boundaries, but PIs you say, no, no, let’s not have any, interestingly, yeah. Yeah. So, we have weird sort of, Oxymoron type of things. Yes. That, that come up like, like spirituality and religion. but then we have, sort of, authoritarian, Religion and, and the sort of, very structural religion sort of, returns to traditional values, right?

And, that kind of thing. So things that seem like they’re in conflict or, or their meanings are sort of, opposite, but, but really they, We do see them a lot in, in, in society. we have water issues that come up, environmental issues with water. but there’s a lot of environment, environmental regulations that occur around water when, when Saturn’s in Pisces.

So, policies and regulations about water pollution, for example, or, or, possibly about, Bridge, retrofitting, you know. Okay, so protecting down walls or something. Dams and, yeah, exactly. water, what do they call them? The, the water walls, where like in, in the Netherlands or whatever, where they have them.

Alison: Oh, yeah. So, right. Okay.

Arwynne: Yeah, exactly. Things like that. Levees, levees, whatnot. or, or just regulations that protect waterways. Okay. So things like that. It’s, yeah.

Alison: Yeah. And it’s interesting that you talk about, traditional over spirituality because what I was actually thinking about, as you were saying that was this, this coronation we’re having of Charles King. Charles is getting, right, he’s, it is his coronation and which is that traditionally, done it, it’s been done the same way for like 10,000 years or something.

Arwynne: Yeah.

Alison: And now, he’s changing things and he’s making adjustments and he’s, bending the rules, to suit 2023, which is kind of interesting.

And there’s quite a lot of, people have got a lot to say about it on both sides of the argument. Yeah. Interesting. Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, that was an aside.

Arwynne: Yeah, for sure. Yeah. What sign is he?

Alison: I believe he’s a Scorpio.

Arwynne: Oh yeah, that’s right. How could I forget? Oh, yeah. Interesting. Another thing that’s a, a very Pisces sort of aspect of, of society is art and creativity.

And of course, Saturn brings challenges and restrictions to whatever it touches. And art is definitely being challenged in one way that we know right now, which is this whole AI art thing. and it’s amazing. What they can do. Yeah, absolutely. And, where is the artist going to be? If you can just call up any kind of, creation in, at the snap of a finger. Yes. Whatever you wanna say. Yes. Yes. at, at the prompt that that, where is authorship, where is identity, all of these things. And, that kind of challenge is, is definitely already happening in the art world.

Alison: And, what’s, what’s going to happen over the next couple of years while Saturn is in Pisces and, and this challenge is, is occurring to, do you think they’re into bringing some restrictions about?

Arwynne: We, if you, if the AI created the art, you can’t hang it in the gallery. I mean, and say it was yours. There are surely going to be restrictions and laws and lawsuits. Lawsuits are already beginning to happen over, over, authorship and I, people who feel they’ve been defamed by the chatbot. Oh, people who feel like, they’re, they’re being represented by the AI in a way that’s unflattering, they’re suing for libel.

And obviously artists are, are trying to find ways of, of either putting restrictions in or suing or, or somehow digitally signing things or, yeah, I, I. Who knows where this will go.

Alison: Gosh. But it’s a really interesting time.

Arwynne: Yes. And also, as one of the things that Pisces does is, Saturn and Pisces, could be like a return to some sort of traditional forms of art.

Alison: Right.

Arwynne: Communal forms of art.

Alison: Right.

Arwynne: So, dance, Classical, classical forms of art. Mm-hmm. different things like that. also psychedelic art is an interesting kind of, PIs intake on, on art that’s have had a huge resurgence. collaborative art forms, ecstatic or spiritual art forms is, is another possible way that this could be playing out. And, yeah. That, is gonna be really interesting to watch. And it also leads to, the need for novel approaches and novel, more creativity. So obviously there’s a challenge, but there’s also. Innovation that comes from, from the challenge and the restriction as it always does. That’s in, in art and in That’s right. Human endeavors.

Alison: I’ve always thought that the art, that, when, when Saturn is going through there, is that like murals on a wall where you’ve got this massive wall and multiple people could like, contribute to.

Arwynne: Absolutely. We’ve got an awful lot in our city. That’s amazing. I love them. I, I’ve actually I will frequently stop and take pictures of the, the mural. That’s amazing. And that’s, that’s something that can’t be done digitally, like That’s right. Yeah. And it’s like someone’s concretely, it’s just, it’s the sad thing. Yeah. The wall thing. Yeah. Literally concrete. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely.

Alison: Interesting.

Arwynne: Yeah. And one more thing that, that I’m seeing as a possible thing that’s gonna be coming up in the next couple of years is, is. Collective unconscious. And, Pisces being this, this watery sort of subterranean, subconscious, unconscious sort of energy. And Saturn, Saturn influencing that, or, or Pisces influencing this Saturn, however you wanna say so there could be a lot of social and poli political issues coming up around mental health addiction, neuro divergence and collective trauma. PTSD, what have you. These, the psychedelics that are now being used to treat ptsd.

Alison: Okay. That’s a really interesting thing.

Arwynne: So the government is now. The sanctioning, especially for war veterans the use of psychedelic medicines to, to bring people out of, the, trauma that they had from being in war. Yes. Which is this fascinating, I think very sort of Saturn and Pisces thing, where you’re saying, okay, so these things that we’ve vilified, these medicines, these, these chemicals, these plants that we’ve vilified for, now dozens of years and said like this, you’ll go to jail forever.

Alison: Right.

Arwynne: But now we’re saying, okay. Maybe these can be actually used to treat people and, and bring them out of this horrible, crippling trauma and depression from being in war, which is an amazing, I think, convergence of, of history and yeah, these energies, which is, so are you saying you think that there’s going to be a relaxing on, on the, the laws or the Absolutely.

The government is dictating the use of these product a hundred percent products and I’m, we’re already seeing it for sure.

Alison: Yeah.

Arwynne: Yes, it’s, yes. It’s fascinating and I think long overdue. Yeah. Wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like, this is also an interesting time in, talking about the collective unconscious, where it’s, it’s not even an unconscious thing, but the, the collective sort of, Experience of, escapism and manufactured realities as maybe a coping mechanism for the, the trauma of just dealing with everyday life.

Yes. So massively multiplayer video games is one thing. meta the metaverse. Yeah. This is whatever you think of meta as a company, as a concept. it’s happening. Virtual reality has been promised for like, decades now. It’s, it’s here. Yeah. And what could be more. Saturn, Pisces then like a technology that allows you to enter into like a collective reality.

Yes. That’s, that’s not really real, but it, is Yeah.

Alison: It’s interesting.

Arwynne: Yeah. So, I think that’s, that’s definitely another, another Saturn, Pisces thing. So are, are you thinking that more and more people are going to be like, dare I say, sucked into these things rather than living with. In the real world almost, that these like video game types environments will be more appealing to a place to be rather than having to, to struggle with the realities of, well, it’s kind of like how, like escapism, I mean Yeah.

But it’s kind of like how Covid forced us all indoors. Yes. And, and then we found ourselves on Zoom in. in Zoom meetings with, with all of the invasive, pervasiveness of, of Yes. Like a 24 hour, workday in some cases for some people and, and in some companies and, and then, never being able to turn it off.

Like what could be more prices than that. Like the, the metaverse has you, it’s true. Yes. Yeah. But, but at the same time, it, it, there are escapist, like, what’s the word? Recreational forms of that and okay, these, you turn off one screen and then you enter the other screen and that’s your, your other 12 to 16 hours reality.

Yeah. You need never go outside again. Well, and it sounds tempting at times, I have to say. Yeah.

Alison: Yeah. Interesting.

Arwynne: I mean, some people were obviously, All too ready to enter that anyway. I mean, I don’t think that’s everybody. I don’t certainly think that that’s, it’s not something that’s gonna attempt people who are already, outdoorsy and mm-hmm.

Just, going out and hiking and biking every day and, they’re not gonna suddenly be like, oh, I need to play World of Warcraft. Yes. Every minute of every day. but, but yeah, maybe these things, obviously, all the screens are, are, tempting our attention and true and being made to be addictive.

In ways that seductively addictive. Yes, absolutely. Yes. Yeah. The algorithms, they exist to, to grab your attention and to keep your attention as long as possible, which is, it’s an interesting thing to think that these companies and, they, they exist in a way to create addiction, which is a yes.

A PIs, thing.

Alison: And then, what, sorry to cut you off there, but then the, What, as part as certainly is going through Pisces, which, which science do you think it’s actually going to affect more than others? Or is everybody going to be affected in the same way, would you say?

Arwynne: Well, I mean, definitely not everyone’s gonna be affected in the same way.

Right? It’s hard to predict. Everyone’s chart is different, obviously. These are, these are broad energies, like everything from Saturn on out is, is. A generational or like a transpersonal, planets. Yes. If you’ve got, say, say you’ve got the Sun and PIs, it’s definitely going to come your way, isn’t it?

Alison: Yeah.

Arwynne: I mean obviously then you have Saturn conjunct your sun at some point, which is, that’s, yeah, that’s something to for sure. Always be aware of. You wanna know where, where those planets are, where they’re gonna be touching your chart. and even if you don’t have anything in Pisces, you, everyone has Pisces somewhere in their chart, correct?

Yes. So maybe you have Pisces Rising or maybe. Pisces is on your midheaven and it’s gonna be touching your, your, the midheaven obviously being your career.

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: Or your, your, expression in the world, your, your face to the, to the world or your, your career. Yes. so it’s interesting as these planets are transiting through the chart.

Alison: Yeah. And they’re all moving all the time, but some are more heavy hitters and I think Saturn is one of those planets for sure.

Arwynne: Yeah. I think that’s on its business card. Saturn the heavy hitter. Yeah. Yeah. Perhaps it is. Perhaps it is. Yeah.

Alison: Do you have anything in Pisces at all though?

Arwynne: No.

Alison: No. Neither do I dodged a bullet there, but yeah.

Arwynne: But, for, I think for those who do have planets in Pisces it will, it will be Saturn’s common and calling. Yes, definitely. Yeah. And it’s not necessarily a bad thing either. Mm-hmm. I’m trying to think back to when Saturn was. Going through, let’s see, where would it have been really impactful for me?

Alison: So when he went through Scorpio, I suppose, right?

Arwynne: Yeah. And when was that? Oh, it must have been a while. We, we don’t know. We don’t, it was a while ago. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Cause Sam takes around 30 years, right? To go, yeah. All the way through the zodiac. So, the last time it was in Pisces was what, 30 years ago?

Alison: Really?

Arwynne: Yeah. And okay, so this is the thing. I mean, what, what you wanna make sure to look. At in your chart is where you have Saturn. If you have Saturn in Pisces, you are coming up for a Saturn return. That is big thing. That is a big thing. It’s a big thing. I distinctly and vividly remember literally the day of my first Saturn return, and I say first because my second is coming up in a few years, whatever, whatever.

Right, right. haven’t really marked it on the calendar yet, but it’s looming. but yeah, I mean the very, and my, my Saturn is in Cancer and that was a year. Holy crap that I remember the day actually, and I came home and I was like, what is happening? I was in tears. I was hyperventilating on the street, like just walking home from an appointment and.

And I got home and I was like, what is happening? And I looked and it was literally that day that my Saturn return had hit, so to speak.

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: Yeah. I will never forget. But it doesn’t always happen that way for people. It frequent, frequently does though. But Saturn’s got the reputation, doesn’t it?

Alison: For sure.

Arwynne: Return. Yeah. It’s wonderful. So those of you who’ve got Saturn in and Pisces, you, you, you’ve got a return either just happened or, yeah. And these are people who are like in their late twenties to, to 30, 28 to 30 years old-ish. Which, obviously that is,

Alison: or 60 ish as well.

Arwynne: Right, exactly. Second Saturn return and these are, these are sort of pivotal times anyway, right?

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: Like, in our society. Yeah. Turning those ages.

Alison: Yeah. I think we, we need to, in the future we’ll definitely have a chat about Saturn returns in great detail as well, because there’s actually a lot to it there for sure. Many people actually turn to astrology at that point.

Arwynne: Yeah.

Alison: So, yeah. Super interesting. Yeah.

Arwynne: Yeah. So look at your chart. Absolutely know where your Saturn is and what you’ve got in Pscess, coz this is going to be affected now.

Alison: Yeah. Would you say that when Saturn goes through Pisces, say if you had the Moon in Pisces that it would just nonchalantly go by? Or are we going to know about this transit?

Arwynne: I mean, it’s interesting that you use the moon as an example because as I’ve I’ve said, I think a few times, the moon, I, I don’t really notice in, in my chart, my chart has. My chart, my, the moon is like not connected to anything. It’s, it’s loosely, it’s not compute, it’s loosely conjunct. My Sun, they’re both in Virgo, but there’s like 10 degrees separating them.

some people know exactly where the Moon is all the time. They can feel it when it’s full. They know everything about the Moon in their chart. And for me, it’s just not a thing. so I would say it’s definitely a thing for some people. It depends on how connected you are with the planets that you have in Pisces.

If you have the Moon in Pisces and you are very connected to it and it’s touching all kinds of other things in your chart, I would say definitely be prepared for some upheaval. Yeah. or restrictions even. Obviously upheaval isn’t really a Saturn word, but, but yeah, I mean, be prepared for some restrictions, some limitations, maybe.

I dare I say like, be careful with your taxes. You don’t wanna get audited. What are Saturn Things like, government intrusion. Yeah. Like you, wanna make sure that you’ve kind of done everything right. You know that you’re not Yeah. You know? Inviting any kind of, restriction or, intrusion into your way of life.

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: You know?

Alison: Yes. It, and to go back to, the Moon, what you were just saying. Mm-hmm. And I too, I have to say I’m very much a solar girl. Yeah. I know where the Sun is, what potting and when the equinox is and solar eclipses. But the moon, I’m not tracking it. it just doesn’t, as you say, it just doesn’t, yeah appeal to me. astrologically much interesting.

Arwynne: Yeah.

Alison: So now, just, one other thing that I was thinking of that when you were last on the show, you were talking to us about how your, when you launched into using astrology publicly, you actually gave a lecture to conference about Neptune and Saturn and I was wondering if maybe you could make that link available for our listeners.

Arwynne: I would love to. It was about the opposition of, of Saturn and Neptune back in 2006. Okay. And, what’s interesting about that now is that, they’re not conjunct this time around, but they are both in Pisces.

Alison: Yes.

Arwynne: At this, at this time. and they won’t actually be conjunct again until the next time Saturn goes into Pisces, which is in, 2052.

But they will be very close. Okay. this time around because they’re both in Pisces. And, and that is a really interesting energy. Obviously the, the opposition is different from the conjunction. Sure. Very, similar but, but different, it’s part of the same cycle and, and obviously the conjunction and the opposition are, are sort of the two, the big aspects.

Alison: That’s right. So that would be great if we have, some of our listeners maybe wanted to dig a little deeper into what we were saying here and, find out a little bit more about the type of work you’ve been doing as well.

Arwynne: Yeah. Thank you. Great. It’s a really interesting historical cycle like Saturn and Neptune are a fascinating, kind of, it was called Heavy Water, so that’s heavy water Saturn, Neptune Heavy Water.

Alison: Yeah well you could still call it that now because Saturn’s in Pisces, right?

Arwynne: Absolutely.

Alison: I mean the two key words I came up were with limiting beliefs. Yeah. Which is the two combinations of the two. but heavy water works just as well actually, which is, which is kind of interesting too.

Arwynne: Yeah, yeah.

Alison: Okay, Arwynne. Well, thanks so much for, joining us today and, we look forward to having you on the show again in the future.

Arwynne: Thanks so much, Alison. I look forward to it as well.

Rulership

Saturn rules Capricorn and Aquarius .

Saturn has much to say about discipline, control, self-control, suppression, limitation, boundaries, being held in and the building of walls.

On the upside, Saturn rules things you can master, your ambition, worldly achievement and your grasp in life.

Time, timekeeping, hourglasses, being on time, time and motion, watches, and clocks all are under Saturn’s influence.

Capricorn’s ruling planet also has an affinity with older men and your father.

Saturn symbolizes all authority figures, the police, your parents in general, anything respectable, taskmasters, headmasters, and your boss.

It has to do with all traditional things; the tried and tested, systems, methods and predictable things that are same old, same old.

Saturn is often a factor in depression a lack of faith and the feeling of being.

Your Second Saturn Return – Astrology for the Third Age

Your Second Saturn Return – Astrology for the Third Age

Your Second Saturn Return

Astrology for the Third Age

Discover more on your Saturn returns in general.

Introduction

As you pass the age of sixty, and even the in the year coming up to your 60th birthday, the planets make a special contact to your birth chart as Saturn once more returns to its natal position.

This is where it was the day you were born and Saturn takes around thirty years to make one full pass through the zodiac.

Your first Saturn return happened at about age twenty-nine to thirty and the second Saturn return occurs at around age fifty-nine to sixty.

Saturn is the timekeeper of the zodiac and brings a time for you to recalibrate back to your core values as shown in your natal chart.

Acceptance

You can make the most of your second Saturn return by accepting the following:

  • You know who you are
  • You are mature
  • You know what you can and can’t do
  • You know your limitations both physical and mental
  • You consider starting a new business
  • You become the mistress or master of your own life

The Astrology of your Saturn Return

Your Saturn returns can happen in one of two ways. It all depends on the movement of Saturn at the time of your return. This movement is determined by the angular relationship Saturn has with the Sun in the transit chart.

If the Sun is square or sextile Saturn it will not be the Saturn retrograde that happens once a year.

Your Saturn return could be short as a one hit transit or prolonged if there is a three contact transit.

One Contact Return

In a one conjunction Saturn return the influence will be in orb for ten days beforehand and ten days afterwards the exact date.

If it is one single Saturn return you will immediately recalibrate back to all your natal aspects to Saturn.

Three Contact Return

If you are fortunate to receive a three contact Saturn return the transit can be for as long as three months as you experience an extended Saturn return that is more powerful and life changing.

There will be a first direct hit, then a second retrograde contact and finally the third contact.

  • The initial contact will set the stage for all this Saturn return favours.
  • The second contact makes you revise any plans or opinions about your life.
  • The third and final contact brings closure to the things initially opened at the first contact of the return.

Natal Saturn Direct

If your natal Saturn is direct and you get one transit it will be a relatively painless return. A Saturn return like this is short and sweet.

If your natal Saturn is direct and you get a three pass Saturn return it will draw out. The natal issues relating to Saturn and it’s complex in your chart as shown by the sign, house and aspects that you natal Saturn has.

Each contact will be reinforced in a prolonged Saturn return and you will have more time to assess and process the changes taking place in your life.

Natal Saturn Retrograde

If your natal Saturn is retrograde and you receive one direct contact from Saturn it will be refreshing and the positive side of Saturn will be available to you.

If your natal Saturn is retrograde and you receive a three hit Saturn return it will seem more familiar. The hesitation that comes from the Saturn retrograde will be reinforced through the aspects that you already have in your natal chart.

When to Expect Your Second Saturn Return

Your second Saturn return happens when Saturn does a full second cycle and returns to the sign it was in when you were born.

If your natal Saturn is in Aquarius your Saturn return will happen from March 2020 to March 2023.

If your natal Saturn is in Pisces you will get a Saturn return somewhere between 2023 and May 2025.

The Third Age

Your second Saturn return is like a passage of life. Everyone’s life is different and if you were married or not or have kids or grandchildren the situation will differ from person to person.

But there are main themes for the third age of Saturn.

Now you are free to do more. The constraints and demands of reproduction have passed as most women are now through their menopause and cannot have children. They may be called crones or elders.

The grown up kids may have moved out, gone to college or got married.

Your parents may have gone. Even your husband or wife may have shuffled off.

This time is for you to master yourself and to draw the line about people or things that demand too much from you.

You may downsize your home and find a smaller place and change things.

You are not responsible for so many things and now you can concentrate on yourself.

Now your duty is to yourself. You can approach life with renewed energy and accomplish things you have only dreamed of before.

Now you can:

  • Be free from responsibilities of a family or a husband.
  • Know that retirement is a dirty word
  • Travel
  • Make new friends
  • Get more education
  • Explore your creativity
  • Be a mentor for others
  • Have a simpler life
  • Get a smart phone
  • Eat nourishing and quality food
  • Exercise as you see fit
  • Volunteer your time
  • Upgrade your wardrobe and style
  • Get new hair and makeup
  • Love your grandchildren

Each second Saturn return will be different for everyone but the core meaning will remain.

If you plan carefully you will have a new lease on life and can do what you have always wanted to do on your own terms.

Your Progressed Moon and Transiting Saturn – Special Forecast

Your Progressed Moon and Transiting Saturn – Special Forecast

Forecasting in astrology can be a simple Sun sign interpretations that any astrologer can do, or the more detailed and complex forecasting techniques which a professional experienced astrologer will provide. It depends on the level of understanding you wish to extract from your birth chart which route you will choose.

In astrological forecasting there are many things to consider for each chart that you look at. One of the interesting nuggets in forecasting is the relationship between your progressed Moon and transiting Saturn.

This connection deserves a second look but only in some charts. It is not always present and therefore can be dismissed as not worth bothering about. But in the few charts that this does occur, you need to fully appreciate exactly what is going on and how this dynamic situation will affect you and for how long.

If you do have this complex attribute in your chart the energy from the contact will be in play for ten to twenty years. This can overshadow other things being brought forward in the forecast data. Pee Moon and Tee Saturn can be the full story for many people and for years of their lives.

Your Secondary Progressed Moon (P-Moon)

The progressed Moon can travel up to just over three times around your chart in your lifetime. In doing so it makes all the possible aspects to all the planets and points in your chart. This speed and constant aspect contacts creates an endless variety for consideration for an astrologer.

As the progressed Moon takes +/- twenty-nine years to make one round of the chart it will therefore progress through each sign in about two years and five months (29 / 12 = 2.42y).

All things being equal and depending on the house system, the progressed Moon will spend a similar amount of time in each house .

Progressed Moon changing sign:

  • You instinctively relates to sign attributes
  • Your moods reflect the sign element changes
  • You take comfort in the new signs meanings

Progressed Moon changing house:

  • You become emotional towards the affairs of the house
  • You feel at home in the new house
  • Your habits move towards alignment with the new house

Transiting Saturn (T-Saturn)

Saturn keywords: Detract, static, pull, contract, steadfast, curtail, held-in and achieve.

Saturn Returns

Saturn moves about eleven degrees each year or, to put it another way, spends around two and a half years in each sign. Saturn takes about twenty-nine years to pass through the zodiac. You can experience up to three Saturn returns in your life.

Your Saturn returns are at approximately ages twenty-nine, fifty-eight and eighty-seven.

A Saturn return can be a one or three pass transit. The three pass transit is very important and should be accorded the correct amount of attention.

Saturn and Jupiter are very often the opposite side of a situation and, when they both bring in influence to bear, both can be negated.

Transiting Saturn by house

Saturn through the houses shows where you exert control, can achieve things and will succeed in the long run. Saturn can bring structure to chaos and create formal organization in which to work.

During a Saturn transit you will “draw the line” and maintain boundaries for yourselves. When you have a Saturn transit you may have to learn the hard way about the issues of the house.

It can be challenging when Saturn passes through some houses and you may have to tighten your belt and keep going.

Transiting Saturn by aspect

The four major transits from Saturn are those to it’s natal position. Saturn transits can bring maturity, the ability to take responsibility and a certain acceptance of what the world has to offer. It can also be where we exist under some limitations or imposed boundaries.

Saturn is an indicator of your father, father figures or older men in authority in your life and they may become a feature under a Saturn transit.

Transiting Saturn waxing square natal Saturn

Transiting Saturn square natal Saturn at about age seven most children are in big school and in the system and have to abide by timetables and rules.

Transiting Saturn opposition natal Saturn

Saturn opposition natal Saturn at somewhere in year fourteen is an indicator for puberty and physical maturity. Some adolescents can begin a casual job in the food industry for example, and start to earn a living in the big world.

Transiting Saturn waning square natal Saturn

Transiting Saturn square natal Saturn at the closing square happens around age 21 and is the threshold for adulthood.

Saturn return

First return at 28/30 the age of maturity where you stop blaming yoru parents for your woes and take ownership for your life.

Natal aspects between the Moon and Saturn

Moon conjunct Saturn

The issues of parents Mother (Moon) and father (Saturn) are closely linked. This person goes through life with their parents showing a united front to them regardless of what is really happening.

Moon square Saturn

This person has a life where their parents may disagree on how to bring the. Hold up. There may even be a question on the paternity or the child. This person has tension about their parents that they take forward into their own lives where they become the authority and the pattern continues.

Moon opposite Saturn

This person experiences diverse views from each parent or opposite view which may develop into outright conflict between their parents. The parents will play them off against each other. This placement frequently brings confrontation and flip flopping in discipline for this child.

P.MO T.SA

Of all the planetary progressions the Moon needs close attention as the whole mood of the life shifts during the time it takes to pass through the natal chart and ingress the signs and houses. These subtle changes which happen over a two to three year period are often easier to appreciate in retrospect. As an astrologer you need to be on the lookout for this phenomenon in your chart.

Parents

The Moon (mother) and Saturn (father) can be at the root of many issues faced by people. So much so that this phenomenon (the Moon aspect Saturn lockstep) may easily dominate the whole life. Resolution is to be found in the natal placement of the Moon and Saturn and the energies need to be accepted into the life of the individual. This is likely to be challenging.

Pee Moon Tee Saturn Forecast Lockstep

Transiting Saturn takes twenty-nine years to transit the zodiac and the progressed Moon takes twenty-nine years to transits the zodiac. If there is a natal aspect between the Moon and Saturn it will be held in place by the movement of these two planets with one transiting and one progressed.

Difficult aspects (hard) are exacerbated. Although transiting Saturn will retrograde for periods and perhaps break the aspect it will reform when Saturn goes direct, is fast and reapplies the aspect.

Natal Moon aspect natal Saturn – orb

Depending on the tightness of the orb of the natal aspect between the Moon and Saturn this aspect may be in orb, by progression, for the lifetime of the individual.

Over time it will ease away but this could take many years. It depends if the aspect is applying or separating. For example if the Moon is applying an opposition to Saturn it may hold the opposition for longer than if it is already separating in the natal chart.

In the natal chart if the Moon and Saturn are in a fourth harmonic aspect that is either a conjunction, square or opposition. This needs a further look.

If the Moon and Saturn are sextile or trine it just makes it an easier relationship throughout. Only bother about the fourth harmonic aspects.

How long will it be?

Each chart is different but many people will have an aspect between the Moon and Saturn. The first thing to look at is whether there is an aspect between these two bodies.

Second is the natal aspect applying or separating? This will show how long the aspect will be in orb.  If the aspect is applying from 8 degrees then it could be applying for years and then become exact and finally separating for ten years.

This time of”being in orb” varies in each case but will still be long time.

So what?

Well for someone with the Pee Moon Tee Saturn in aspect, the energies of the two planets are connected for much if not most of their life.

It is well known that the Moon and Saturn can be many things both separately and together but when there is a link between the Moon and Saturn by aspect in the chart, it is always the parents that come together.

Moon as mother

In your chart your Moon shows how you see your mother and your experience of her.

If there are two sisters with different Moon sign this indicates their different experience of their mother even though she was the same woman they experienced her differently. This can be seen with eldest child, middle child and youngest child situations where each one has a different Moon sign.

It suggests how she nurtured you and tells how she mothered you. Was she super cuddly or a bit cold or somewhere in between? Did you get beautiful clothes to wear or your brother’s hand-me-downs? What about her cooking?

As an adult you will remember your mother’s treatment of you forever. It is where you learnt how to care and how to provide nurture for yourself and others.

Saturn as your father

Saturn in your chart shows your father and older men like uncles and grandfathers. It shows how you experienced him and his fathering.

It shows father figures and men in authority over you. These people were (and are) teachers, headmasters, the police and judges.

It shows whether you dad was there for you, or a bit distant or an absentee father.

Well placed Saturn shows how you respect authority the law and if you respect your elders or not. Do you give your seat to a senior when on the bus? Do you call old men “Sir” or does it choke in your throat. All of these things are shown by your natal Saturn.

Your transiting Saturn and progressed Moon return

Much has been written about a Saturn return. Even people outside the astrological community know of the Saturn return. But what of the progressed Moon return?

It happens around age 29/30 and can be a time for change and of going back to basics as promised in the natal chart.

Any return brings the energies of the planet back to its true meaning for you, as the planet in question returns to its natal position in your chart. At this point it remakes all the natal aspects it has that are part of your natal chart interpretation. So aspects other than to the Moon or Saturn from either will be realigned.

Once you realize that your Saturn return is around the same time as you progressed Moon return you can see how they can be different for each person.

  • There is only  one progressed Moon return in each cycle.
  • There can be one or three Saturn returns in each cycle.

Return sequences possible

  • Saturn returns before the progressed Moon return
  • Progressed Moon returns before the transiting Saturn return.
  • Saturn return one hit
  • Saturn return three hit
  • Saturn return before and after progressed Moon return.

When you realise the potential implications of a simple Moon Saturn aspect in a natal chart it opens the door for further investigation of the long term effects of this phenomena. Parental issues may not be the only thing to think about but they may be laid as a full background stage for the life of the person.

As always care should be taken when interpreting charts and all situations will ideally be related back to the whole chart for a full rounded forecast.

How Saturn Transits can Improve Your Life

How Saturn Transits can Improve Your Life

by Alison Price

I recently received this question about Saturn from a reader:

“I always watch where Saturn is transiting for me and I’m beginning to think that Saturn is not as bad as we understand. I have had some of the best things happen for me when Saturn is in a certain house.

Like when it was in my first house I stopped drinking, smoking and lost weight. Now it’s in the second house and I have never earned so much money in my life. I have a lot to pay but the earning is something else!

I think if we are aware we can make it [Saturn by house] work for us. Buckle down to the discipline and so on. We live in terror of Saturn and yet find incredible blessing in its transits.

What do you think Alison?”

Here’s what I think

How exciting that a relative novice at astrology has such insights. That by having even a smattering of information (Saturn in her houses) allows her to understand the complexities of the planetary astrology and how it actually works in her chart.

For a bit of background information, this woman is forty-something and lives a regular life in the suburbs. She and her husband enjoy a fulfilling life where they try to make ends meet at the same time educating their kids and enjoying their family with many dogs.

In fact they are a couple probably just like you or me.

The first house

The first house is about your physical appearance, vitality and how you look. It is the facade you present to others.

Any planet passing through (or transiting) your first house will change you in the nature of the transiting planet.

Saturn

Saturn is traditionally known as “The Greater Malefic” this means it is the biggest bad boy of the planets.

In case you are wondering Mars has the dubious reputation as “The Lesser Malefic” and on a side note Venus is the “The Lesser Benefic” and Jupiter is “The Greater Benefic” and we’ve got to love the old labels.

Saturn is the planet of control and discipline. It can be cold and hard but it does have its up side. When saturn bestows its gifts they are sometimes difficult to see.

Saturn brings things like:

  • Being able to master something
  • Finding staying power for the long haul
  • Building on a strong foundation

These are old fashioned virtues and don’t fit with the modern world of quick fixes, sound bytes and 7 day miracle diets etc.

Time is of the essence

Saturn takes time but if you do put the time in you will reap benefits from Saturn’s graces.Cousin Violet

I often relate how Saturn works in your life, to the beloved character of Cousin Violet in Downton Abbey.

Here is a woman who is old and crusty, loves traditions but has staying power for the long haul.

The Dowager will prevail.

Reader insights and being self-aware

That our reader has noticed when Saturn recently went through her first house changing her physical appearance by her improved self care of cutting out drinking and smoking and losing some weight is excellent.

Yes, Saturn can change your life and yes, for the better.

Although you may not notice it at the time, you will be able to look back and see the improvements that have been made in your life.

Your vitality is as good as your first house.

Living every day with destructive habits can be stopped, or at least curtailed, and limited when Saturn passes through your first house. This is a perfect example of Saturnian energy.

Putting your back into your toil can benefit you through more work coming your way or an increase in your hourly rate. This usually means more pay.

You have to work hard but the cash is worth it and so are you.

I have often said that “good income equates to good self-esteem” and this is very much so when Saturn passes through your second house.

Forecast for Saturn in the third house

We can guess what will happen when Saturn enters her third house.

Perhaps she will find the time for her brother and sister, or she could easily take a stand on what is going on in her neighbourhood and perhasp build a fence to keep the dogs in or the passers-by out.

Our reader may decide to build on the successes she achieved when Saturn went through her second house of good work and income, and sign up for some more courses.

Maybe she will attend classes for something new that interests her or she could go back over classes she took in the past when Saturn first went through her third house, which would have been about thirty years ago when she was at school.

Perhaps she will make up a personal reading list and decide to get through one book a week for the year and a half that Saturn is in her third house. She could add some beloved classics to the list or try a modern author. Heck, she may even start her own journal, scribe poetry or teach others.

The possibilities are endless.

That we have given some ideas here will set our reader thinking on how best to use the planetary energies as they slowly transform her and she evolves in line with the potentials of her chart.

In reality an astrologer would look deeper into her chart and note the sign on the cusp of each house that Saturn is transiting and also how her natal Saturn is placed and how it contacts the rest of her chart through the dynamic aspects.

Of course there are many parts to a chart reading, and we have only looked at a small section today.

Can you find the blessing when it passes by?
